Group for teens that want to lose 20+ lbs by Summer
So I really need to get on the stick. I lost 15 pounds from february, but gained all of it back this summer when I totally binged. I'm really mad at myself and need to lose a lot of weight before I go on a cruise with my family and wear a bikini and stuff, y a know?
So, for teens who actually need to lose weight, we can support each other while we're dealing with school and life and trying to lose weight and still maintain our good grades.
So post your stats and we'll introduce outselves and support each other on this super hard journey.
You know what? It's a little on the late side, but I really want to join.
Age: 15
Height: 65 in. / 5'5"
CW: 145ish.
GW: 123
I would be eccstatic if I could get to 130 by June, honestly. XD I gained 8 pounds over the holidays, and I want to be at my slimmest before the year is over because after that.. I'm off to busy land with a job and starting college next year, so I need to SERIOUSLY teach myself some good habits so I can maintain my weight over that time period.
My goals along the journey:
- Put to rest my binging problem. Give it a good kick in the butt and tell it never to come back so I don't struggle with it as an adult.
- Be able to run 2 or so miles without rest (big goal for me since I'm not a fan of running)
- Be able to do 20 "manly" (ie on the toes) push-ups.
- Learn to appreciate my body in all forms, since it serves me well.
- Start eating healthy food, not just crap within my calorie range. (Dear varieties of chocolate I sneak in at night: I will miss you dearly..)
I always have a tough time getting good ideas from adults since most of them have jobs and money to spend.. What do you guys do to reward yourself when you finally reach a goal?
I'm going to save up all my money from when I get a job so that when I reach my goal weight I will be able to buy a whole new wardrobe. Hello shopping!
Kay: I think those are fantastic goals :) I also think that learning really healthy habits before you start college is super important. I had healthy habits but I wasn't aware of the effects of alcohol - and my miniscule bingeing issue became a zillion times worse when I was away from home with unhealthy food at my finger tips. As my goal for weight loss I got my belly button pierced. I wish I didn't do it because I wasn't maintaining at my goal weight for very long and I gained it all back plus some when I started school - now the belly button piercing really bothers me psychologically and physically. I see it as somewhat of a representation of my failure and I think it looks silly with my big tummy. Getting a job and buying new clothes is always a nice goal but I think appreciating your body is the most important thing. I was talking to my best friend about how I'm trying really hard to lose weight and it's frustrating to me and wearing on my self confidence and she was advising me that I should try to build my confidence in other aspects of my appearance. Before we went out last night she did my make up and my hair and I felt like a million bucks even though I wasn't as thin as I used to be. I got tons of compliments on looking cute and I had gained 20 lbs since I had last seen most of the people at this given party. I was talking to my mom this morning who has always been a bigger woman about weight and it's correlation to attractiveness. All of her friends are heavyset except one - and I was saying how the skinny one is the least attractive to me. She's the least kind and warm person and her face isn't as pretty. Skinny does not equal pretty. You can be beautiful at any weight, so as a reward make sure to be kind to yourself. Think, "I'm doing something good for myself". I know it sounds silly but as you meet your goals or even if you don't, try to feel good about yourself. You could weigh 75 lbs or you could weigh 300 lbs but you'll still be the same person and you'll still be just as beautiful at any weight. I was crying the other day about a rude comment someone made about my weight gain and my boyfriend said to me, "Lea I thought you were beautiful at 150 lbs and i thought you were beautiful at 110 lbs and I never thought you were any more or less beautiful at any points in between. You're a beautiful person and you have a beautiful face and I don't care what size you are" and I just felt a million times better :) Anyway this is long advice but your post just hit me for some reason. Good luck with everything :)
lafoutloud01 - One of the reasons I decided I wanted to be "straight edge" was because it's just so hard to be in focus on doing what's right and wrong. I'd imagine being drunk around food would be a binger's nightmare. @_@
Anyway, yeah.. One of the gifts you can give to yourself is confidence in what you look like. I watch my two besties go around being social butterflies with utter confidence, no matter what they look like. They can have a bad hairday and still go outside, find someone, and ask for a hug. One of my besties is *my size*, works on getting more healthy, but doesn't really obsess over it, or have self-confidence issues. Even though I'm 2 days older then she is, I aspire to have that same quality as she does and sort of look up to her. Personality is probably the prettiest thing you can ever have, that'll stay pretty all your life if you maintain a good one. It's just realizing that and fully believing it is the challenge, especially when things get tough and you're face-to-face in situations where someone may disagree.
Appreciating yourself is something I think a lot of people of all ages needs to learn. @_@ It's so hard to do that in a societies that pressure you on a constant basis, but you see people, like my bestie, who accomplish it.. so I guess it's something we can do if we put our mind to it, right?
O'course a new haircut, or some kewl new wardrobe to show off whatcha' got (or atleast make you feel like a sexy beast) helps too. ;3
Hey I am Taylor...
I'm 5'7" and I weight about 160lbs... I used to weigh 124 and I would like to get down to that weight again. Other info: I'm 15 and another goal of mine is to get my marks in school up!
Age: 17
Birthday: July 18
Height: 5'7"
Weight: 188
Goal: 140 pounds by July 16th
For my 18th Birthday and graduation gift, my parents are taking me to USVI and I want to make sure I look fabulous for this event! I also feel like I have been unhealthy for a while now and I want to change that.
Tatyana: My birthday's July 17th :) Losing weight for my 18th birthday (last year) was big for me, this year I'll be turning 19 and I'd love to be the size I was then.
hii im dani
age 18
ive lost 5 pounds in 5 days and still going. calorie count says its physically impossible to loose more than 2 pounds a week. well ive done it, many times. so i dont really understand where that fact came from :/ but anyways i am 5'7'' and tryin to get to 112 im currently at 135, 23 pounds to go! would love to hear about what and how everyone else is doing with their weight loss goals to keep myself motivated
Hey dani!
112 at 5'7" is underweight for that height! :( You might want to reconsider your goal. 118 would just barely be at the "healthy weight" BMI. You're actually at a great weight for your height. Are you sure it's necessary to lose weight, not to just tone up and look leaner & stronger?
Also: Are you eating enough food? Unless you just started, 2 pounds is the healthy MAX you should be losing a week. When I first started, I lost 7 pounds real quickly, but it turned out it was just water weight, which is pretty common when you first start off.
Hey I'm Emily.(=
Height: 5'3"
Weight: 135
Goal weight: 110.
Hey. I just started back using the site. I used it a while ago and then stopped....i think mostly it was because my momma was on a diet with me an lost like 35 pounds and then she got to the point where she was comfortable with herself so i lost my partner. lol but that shouldnt be an excuse. anyway...
height: 5' 3"
weight: 142
Goal: 125ish
I'm not all about being super skinny. i just want to be comfortable with myself. like i love my butt and thighs lol. its just i would feel more comfortable with a slimmer tummy. so my real goal is get to a point to where i'm happy comfortable with my appearance. confidence is a beautiful thing. lol
Awh this is freaking sweeeeeeet :)
Most people on here are usually much older than I am, (20s-30s) so it's nice to see a group specifically for teeeeens.
I've been on it before but I felt so out of place and so I left, obviously not getting anywhere.
THIS TIME, I plan on really sticking to the goal. so stoked now. For all of us!
Height: 5 ft
Weight: 115
Goal: 100, 105ish
It just kind of sucks being short, because the fat you store doesn't have many places to hide you know? I agree with you Adea, It's not about being super skinny. Just so you will be comfortable about yourself. It's amazing what self esteem and confidence can do.
TO DANI:
NICE! So proud haha :)
I know the whole weightloss thing isn't quick, but how did you manage to lose 5 pounds in 5 days? Good job though, haha please do share.
Hey, I'm Jas.
My weight tends to go up and down a lot. Its currently somewhere on the middle. I've tried to lose weight soo many times now I've lost count. I've succeeded a couple of times but I always put it back on. Weirdly, the times I lost the most weight, I wasn't even trying to.
Anyway, here are my stats =] :

Age: 20
Birthday: feb 15 1988
Height: 5'1.5"
Weight: 125(ish)
Goal: 110 asap!
I never really "dieted" but I was eating really healthy and stuff and then I moved in (briefly) with my (now ex) boyfriend. He has HORRIBLE eating habits and never has any food in the apartment, so I was snacking on the worst possible things while I was there and now that I'm not with him and living back at home, I can eat healthier. My main goal is to lose what I gained (basically all in my tummy) back and maybe lose a little more... I don't really care about the number so much as how I look and feel, so 110 is just a rough guess.
