Well let me start off by saying that I am not hapy with my results on the scale! I have been eating less cals smaller portions and ok maybe not working out as much But I thought thats when you are supposed to eat less when you can't get in a workout right??? So then can someone... anyone please tell me why I see the scale moving back up??? I am at 243 again and man am I PISSED! So I am trying to circumvent and see what I can do to be in the solution. Eat six small meals and bring snacks to work! I bought Kashi bars and nuts, and some dried fruit. bought frozen fruit for smoothies and have been warding off breads and things like that. Just started that. Bought some more yogurt can never have to many of those things . I know the big container of like plain of vanilla is cheaper and last longer I need something I can grab and go, and the ones that cost me more sugar are of course more convienent. We just joined the Y today under a family plan. I finally have someone to workout with but We both live by the Y and she says I will have less excuses if it is closer and I am alot less likely yto go to mine cause it now is claer across town. Shes right there I am down to two days a week if that. Now My daughter can go and workout with me or hubby. the best part is my oother memebership hasn't run out yet so I can still do the classes I like there and find some new ones at the y. With being back to work and the y across the street I have no excuse to hit the gym in the morning before work. Would like to start riding my bike to work since it is soo close now and need to probably up my water intake. I am just bummed and need to find a way tojump start my metabolism. Oh well sell see how this goes. I can't seem to figure out Why it seems to be at right around this weight I get stuck. Scale has been exactly the same weight for six days straight! I am soooo Frustrated and losing hope fast!

how many calories are you eating?

I'm sorry you are frustrated! Just try and be patient and breathe (literally). Maybe you are making too many major changes at once? If you are not enjoying what you are doing for yourself it can feel really frustrating.

Try only weighing yourself weekly (at the most). There are so many other rewards to what you are doing besides the stupid scale! Great you joined the Y.  I love that place!

between 900 and 1500

At 243, you should be eating around 1600-1700 on a no exercise day. Depending on how long you've been eating like that, you could be not losing because you're not eating.

Are you watching your portions? Just because you're eating healthy food doesn't mean you can eat unlimited amounts of it.

rying to watch portions but working in a restaraunt and some times grabbing things as I go doesn't all ways help. I havn't mastered the technique of eyeballing it yet. I do need to work on that. But then sometimes when I do a veggie I will only do one veggie and forget anything else and that will be all I eat all day, with maybe a yogurt or a kash bar or a bowl of cereal.

Just a thought- some people do well eating multiple small meals during the day... for me, my body does not respond well to that. I just won't lose weight. Three square meals and a snack is what happens to do well for me. My doc told me that for some people (like me) eating a little bit frequently never gives their body that feeling of satiety which can stimulate your whole digestive system which stimulates a whole host of other things.

Also, try to cut back on nuts EXCEPT almonds- just a few, 4 or 5 with a meal will help give you that feeling of being full.

Lastly, start weighing/measuring your portions. Invest in a food scale. It's easy to underestimate exactly how much you are consuming.

These are a few things that worked for me, I hope it helps you. Good luck!

I only had about 8 lbs to lose, but at 46, it wasn't budging!  I teach aerobics and weight training too, but it wouldn't go, even with cutting down to 1200 cals a day.  I finally looked into the South Beach diet, and did a kind of modified form of it, pretty much staying away from white flour, sugar, fruits.  I ate beans, meats, veggies, whole grain flatbreads (once or twice a day) and stopped thinking about DIETING all the time. I just ate until I was full.  I am sure some days I ate over 1600 and somedays less.  I started riding the exercise bike to do a different form of exercise (your body get used to the things you do all the time). It took about 2 weeks to start working, and before I knew it, I was back to my goal weight.  I still try to do low GI because in the process of trying to lose, my acne got better, and I would like to keep that benefit.  Plus going low  Glycemic Index keeps you from craving the sweets!  Good Luck!
