Ok, I guess this doesnt have to do with introducing myself... good classes?
Hey!!
So, I live in Saint Paul and was really hoping to get involved in a fitness class of some sort at a gym/community center. Does anyone have any suggestions of what kind of class is good, where to go (keeping price in mind), etc.
Thanks so much!
I was able to join Fitness 19, I don't know if there is one in your area or not. I live in Blaine and one opened just down the road, they don't have any classes but they do have personal trainers available. The monthly costs are very reasonable, but there is a joining fee and you pay first and last months fee up front and of course the trainer is extra. I like it because it's small and very friendly. All the equipment is first class, but there is no swimming pool or exercise classes. I know the YMCA has more of those type of things. I guess I prefer to be more independent. I just started at the gym at the first of the month and I've met with the trainer just three times, but I've already lost 5 pounds, it doesn't seem like much, but my plan is to take the weight off slowly and in a healthy manner, no fad diets, just a real change in eating habits and watching my portion size along with the exercise. I've lost weight in the past but I've always gained it back as soon as I was sick of the diet. Good luck in finding a place you really feel comfortable with, exercise should be enjoyable or it just won't happen.
I live in Minneapolis and they offer a variety of fitness classes (yoga, pilates, etc.) through Community Education. I would guess St. Paul offers something similar, you can probably search online.
Starting in a week and a half I'm taking a 6 week yoga course held in the evenings at a school near my nieghborhood for only $34!
