So I heard that guns will now be allowed to be carried in certain bars, such as in Tenneseee.
Thoughts?

that screams good idea to me. i mean...what could possibly go wrong?
i must say, as a foreigner, I hear a LOT of bad rap about the US in regards to gun laws, gun attitude, and gun tolerance - whether or not this is a realistic POV is ofcourse negotiable - however- those with weapons are rarely reasonable!!

Does tennesse require carrying or concealing permits? I really have no idea. If they do, I don't have a problem with them being able to carry anywhere. I wish Texas would allow people to carry on university campuses.

I live in Arizona, and they just wrote into law that you can carry your gun into a bar or restaurant that serves alcohol IF:
1- You have a concealed weapons permit (which requires a safety class, and an extensive background check [I have one])
2- the weapon is concealed at all times
3- you are not drinking alcohol (this one is probably #1 on the written law's list)

Guns in my bra could only help me. So far, that's the only place I'm losing inches.

How is the "no drinking" part enforced if the weapon is concealed? IE: How does a server or bartender know whether or not they can give them the Jack Daniels?
Or do they have to wait for a drunk person to pull out their Glock? (Okay, that sounds nastier than it should...)

Don't ask, don't tell.
LOL, it does sound stupid, BUT, most people who clear the background check for the permit are not about to do something stupid to lose it. They'd never be able to get it back again, and most likely would lose their gun rights (once they got out of prison, of course).
Then again, they could just have the bouncer strip search them at the door. Whoever has a gun gets a cute hand stamp! (and maybe someone's phone number!)

That's an interesting idea, but it seems like it kind of goes against the concept of conceal and carry in the first place. Instead of people knowing a person has a gun because they can see it on their hip, it's known they have one because they see the hand stamp.

So, what if the homeowner doesn't want to own a gun?
