So what would you say if one of your guys friends calls you sweetie or babe? Is this normal or would you say that means something?
Depends how he uses those. If he says that to all females... then its doesnt mean much.
But, more likely, is he only says it to people he thinks is cute (and likely interested in).
Hmm well I'm not sure if he uses it with other girls...I think he might not and he does tell me he thinks I'm cute and pretty.
Um, why don't you ask him? For one thing, the fact that you even know him means that you know him better than any of the guys who are going to respond to you on this forum. The male population aren't a fixed commonality. They aren't all clones of one another. How the **** will anyone here know what he means?! Cut the crap and ask the dude!
Okay it sounds like I'm being really offensive here, but I'm not! I'm just feeling the need to be straight up about things, and for encouraging it in others. If you like him, and think there's a chance he may like you, why not simply let it be known to him that you like him?
On a personal note, I had a guy friend that always called me by either of those two terms - yes, "sweetie" or "babe", along with the additional aforementioned commentary.
He was gay.
...And I imagine, still is.
Does this mean that your dude is? No. But if you want him, just bloody well ask him if he wants you back! *Slaps your forehead*...[ever so lightly]

funny-The way you wrote the question is confusing. Do you mean one of your GUY FRIENDS call you babe?
Or do you mean one of your GUY'S (meaning your boyfriend's) friends call you sweetie? If that's the case, then it's a different story.

YEAH! And if he doesn't tell you, pee on him! or torture him tell he spills! Or spank him till he bleeds!
My personal advice is just as him as long as you feel or think you could feel the same. I am currently in a similar situation where I am 85% sure my guy friends likes me but I know it would never work out so I am not going to find out for sure because then he might think I feel the same.
But if you do think you could feel the same ask him. I never told my college friend I liked him, actually I loved him and years later in a drunken conversation we figured out he felt the same. Lets just say I regreed never saying anything even before I knew that because in my world his is the one that got away and all others are compared to. And now he is happily married to someone else.
Good Luck
I call my guy friends and girl friends babe or sweetie. Mostly to the guys to make them feel uncomfortable but if I have a girl-friend that's done something nice for me...sure I will. I'm not hitting on her...I've just found that the girls smile when i say it...and that's what I'm after...nothing else...jsut a smile.
Maybe he can't remember your name.
Yeah, it probably doesn't mean anything OP. I call everyone darlin' or honey.
Kathy are you our receptionist here at work? Every single day I walk through the doors..."Hey hon" or "good morning honey". Doesn't make me uncomfortable in the least. To me, it just "the way she is". Now, for the record...the "wrong" person saying something like that the "wrong" way could get very creepy, very quickly!!!!!!!!!!
I was really only referring to my friends, U. But I shall certainly be careful with my 'darlins' around you. ;)
I think it's a term of "endearment" lots of my guy frinds call me "sweetheart" or "baby girl" . I would get a "feeling" if something were "off" with one of them...if you get a vibe from the guys doing it then...well you could say "I have a name" it's "so-and- so" say this in a nice way of course and only if sweetheart, babe etc. bothers you!
I hope that made sense-it's very early here.

This thread gave me a crush on shnooder. <3
Also, its tone not words. All my guy friends are my husbands guy friends and they call me babe, bitch, lady, darlin - whatever. I know where we stand regardless of what they are calling me. :)
Some guys just use terms like that. Some women too, now that I think of it.
I knew this guy who called everyone "babe" or "dude." But he didn't call all women "babe" or all men "dude." When he was talking to girls about "masculine" topics (guitars, video games) he would call them "dude."
Sorry dbl post!
If your gay ask him.
If your not no big deal let it go maybe he is and it really is part of his personality.

Heh. I do that as well. When I'm talking to my kids or giving my girls crap I use Dude. :)
Dude! If you don't want him to think you're interested in dating him, perhaps you should avoid greeting him with your tongue!!
i'd just take it as a joke
i hate when people use words like "hun" or "babe" or "sweetie" though
they make me ill!
Honestly, it could mean anything. I call everyone I know, even my guy friends, sweetie, babe, dollface, cupcake, darling, dear, my love, sweetness, kid, ...the list goes on. And I just do it cause, well thats the way I am. It just depends on the person I guess.
Where can I see 1/8th or 1/6th of a pie or angel food cake?
This is the best way to picture a portion of pie or cake: Draw a circle to represent the circumference of the cake or pie (9" pie? 10" cake?... Read more
