"guys dig curves" garbage
Seriously people, whats with all this 'guys dig curves' garbage? Yea right! If guys dig curves, than why is the stick-thin image promoted? And why do guys only date mainly skinny girls whose legs don't even touch when they walk?
Anyone else in high school notice this? Do you think it's just our age?

Funny story: not a lot to do with curves, but everything to do with why guys are weird...
A guy friend of ours was watching the victorias secret somethin' or other, and we girls were like, jeez, giselle is gorgeous! He takes a look at the TV, and goes, ick...that's her? She's weird looking...we looked at him like he was crazy...giselle? the woman most girls would KILL to look like? Weird looking?
So I asked him, okay, so who do you think is the most desirable woman on television/movies/whatever...? He began thinking, and I honestly thought he would come up with someone like Jessica Alba, and instead (after a solid three or four minutes worth of thought) he said Pam from the Office, the most normal looking person that I have ever seen in my life...
The best part of this story is that when I relate it to a guy, he usually stares at me as if I'm stupid, shrugs, and says something along the lines of "but Pam from the Office is hot..."
So ladies, I think the moral of the story is that an average guy understands the difference between airbrushed playboy models vs. day to day people...just like we girls don't expect '300'-style Spartan 6-8 packs on everyday men. So buck up, get fit, and quit yer worrying!
Ok, to me.... Giselle... NOT HOT!!!! Six packs on girls... NOT HOT!!!! right before a six pack... HOT!!!! Fit..... HOT!!!!!
I think this goes for both men and women.... so i agree... buck up, get fit and it will all fall into place, when you like how you look and are comfotable... you are the sexiest thing on earth... male or female!
i've found that the skinny twig like girls tend to be the trophy wives and are the ones who get cheated on by thier men with the curvy girls with a... and t....
not to offend anyone .....
i personally would like to experience being a prize/being used for once in my life, though.
weird?

I did a search for the first line of that 'what if' paragraph, and this came up. Really, I couldn't NOT post it:
"What if she doesn’t worry about her body and eats enough for all the growing she has to do? She might rip her stockings and slam-dance on a forged ID to the Pogues, and walk home barefoot, holding her shoes, alone at dawn; she might baby-sit in a battered-women’s shelter once night a month; she might skateboard down Lombard Street with its seven hairpin turns, or fall in love with her best friend and do something about it, or lose herself for hours gazing into test tubes with her hair a mess, or climb a promontory with the girls and get drunk at the top, or sit down when the Pledge of Allegiance says stand, or hop a freight train, or take lovers without telling her last name, or run away to sea. She might revel in all the freedoms that seem so trivial to those who take them for granted; she might dream seriously the dreams that seem so obvious to those who grew up with them really available. Who knows what she would do? Who knows what it would feel like?"

There is a difference between curves and fat.
Personally I like a girl with curves if it is obvious that she takes decent care of herself. I would prefer if they were mostly muscular curves but some fat in those areas is not a big issue at all. Sometimes it even enhances a woman's beauty. The point is be comfortable and confident in your body and you will portray a very sexy image of yourself. Now I need to get fit myself! ![]()

Slightly off-topic, but what i really dislike is how some people call fat people, actually fat, probably quite overweight (it doesn't extend to obese though) curvy. They are not curvy. They are FAT.
Anyway, yep. guy like girls with big boobs/bum. small waist ideal. skinny legs, arms, neck etc quite necessary.
Ooh, what also gets me is the 'ideal' woman. Its a strange mixture of gay fashion designers and male lust: long, thin legs, no hips, tiny waist, enormous boobs, small shoulders + frame, no arse.
come on. get real.
Referring to your off topic comment, I completely agree with your point that overweight people get called "curvy" when they shouldn't. For example, in Seventeen magazine, they label overweight people as "curvy all over"...which is fine to be curvy all over, but the model they show is obviously overweight. And they call this "curvy all over" a body type. Being overweight is NOT a body type. Yes, having a large frame and having legitimate curves from bones IS a body type, but an unhealthy BMI is not.
Ah, I love everyone who has said that fat isnt curvy. It's fat. Thankyouthankyouthankyou. You all know what I'm talking about-- so no need to elaborate. =)
Anyway! lol back the topic. I live in the midwest, and i know guys that love flat-chested, no curves girls at all. And then at the same time, they're best friends with the guys who like bustier, more junk-in-the-trunk girls. I really don't think it depends so much on where you live so much as the individual guy in general. =)
Also, I dont think the stick-thin image is really promoted or entirely for looking good for guys. I think its this unsaid competition between girls-- to always be better, look cuter, dress better, etc than the others in the room. It always feels good to feel like you look better or as good as the other women in the room. However, some just take it too far.
And maybe we prefer to be called curvy instead of fat because it makes us feel better...or are overweight people not allowed to have feelings?
"they're not curvy they're FAT"
Just as long as I know where I stand jesus.
This wasn't placed in the weight loss forum, it was in the young calorie counters forum
we teenagers feel this way because this is actually the way it looks to us. It seems guys like stick most of the time, no there isnt much we can do about it, but we sure as hell can complain if we want to :)
I didn't mean it harshly, I just believe that too many people get called or call themselves "curvy" as an excuse for an unhealthy BMI.
everyone's preference is different. But I think also the reason they may be with that "stick thin" girl more often is because those tend to have more confidence than the girls with curves. Because every not-stick-thin-girl I know is either extremely self-conscious and alone, or she's confident and is with a guy. I used to be the kind lacking confidence, never had a real boyfriend then. Now I'm actually ok with who I am, and I've got the love of my life coming home from the army base pretty soon.
It just depends on the guy.
I mean, not every woman goes for the same type of man either - some like thin, some like muscles, some like fit, etc...
I'm 23 now and still the pressure to look "stick-thin." I have found, though, that confidence (no matter what your body looks like) is the most importance. People notice that first.
As a 23-year old, I have to say, when guys get into their 20s they appreciate curves much more than in their teens. It just happens. Guys take longer with everything. Girls develop real curves in their late teens and guys don't learn to appreciate it until their early 20s. It's similar to when girls were all taller in middle school, guys are just always a step behind. I swear, that'll change. They like a waist and allover tone, but no need to be stick thin, believe me.
I am 16 and my boyfriend is 18. I'm 153 lbs and am 5'8" he loves my curves and told me that if I lose them he won't be as attracted to me so the "stick thin" thing is complete BS!!!!
*sigh* A girl doesn't NEED an excuse to have an unhealthy bmi. Everyone's body is their own and how you choose to describe it is your own too. Why does a fat girlhave no right to have confidence in herself and refer to herself kindly? I would much rather overweight young women were encouraged to see themselves as curvy and love themselves for who they are and not define themselves by numbers, hate themselves for being overweight and call themselves fat. Whether you mean it or not you are being harsh. I'm overweight, I'm trying to lose but I'm still trying to love myself because there is more to me than the number of the scale or my weight in relation to my height. And while you are on a weight loss journey it is important to remember that. You don't have any right to decide how a woman defines her body and I'm glad you don't because I'd be staring in a mirror right now sobbing rather than having the confidence to know I'm hot, fat or thin.
