"guys dig curves" garbage
Seriously people, whats with all this 'guys dig curves' garbage? Yea right! If guys dig curves, than why is the stick-thin image promoted? And why do guys only date mainly skinny girls whose legs don't even touch when they walk?
Anyone else in high school notice this? Do you think it's just our age?
But really the ideal body shape chopped an changed way before twiggy. For example during the flapper era girls wanted to be straight up n down like aboard with no breasts. Boyish was hot. In the 50's the curvy silhouette was everything. 60's saw the waif like mods and it has gone up n down ever since. Until now actually. Where we are seeing no one shape as being universally beautiful, we have a celebration of the pear shape in hip hop culture, beautiful hourglass shaped women such as charlotte church, Waif like skinnies are almost being ostracised in the media (think nicole richie)
But above and beyond the one thing that transcends everything is muscle tone. As long as ya aint flabbin' about the place, you're beautiful! (not neccersarily true IRL but certainlyin the media)
I live in New England (Rhode Island) and there really isnt a way to phrase it. I have definition where my curves are: big breasts, big hips, HUGH butt (nicely formed I might add) and guys love my assets. But then again I have big thighs (too large) and I have a stomach (flabny). Right now there are many guys interested. But, if I lost my stomach and got rid of the thighs (to a degree) I'm pretty sure I would drive the guys crazy w/ my D chest, big hips and nice butt. Curvy women are definitely IN these days, like you said it's just in what your "curves" look like. If you're short and fat you have almost no chance. But tall (5'6) and "curvy" (215) like me doesn't look that bad. It's all in what men prefer (as INDIVIDUALS); how you wear your weight; how you carry yourself; and what type of frame you have. WHAT YOU WEAR has a lot to do with it too. Present yourself well, show some self-esteem and you'll do fine. I've seen women WAY bigger than me that work it and look gorgeous doing it fat stomach, big thighs and all.
And i can definately tell you, while i was anorexically underwieght, guys didn't even LOOK at me. my b/f is always commenting on how much he loves my breasts and nice butt :)
"skinny" is a competition between girls. who can eat less. who can see whose RIBS through their clothes...

one thing i know for sure, i've never heard a guy say:
"ohhh baby, look at the bones on her!"
or
"daaayum check out that set of ribs!"
LOL - true

Yes I do think that it's just your age. You can't generalize an entire gender like that. Every guy has his own preference. For me, I love girls period. As far as relationships go, looks can only take you so far. Two years ago when I was a senior in high school, I went out with a girl who was beautiful and your stereotypical "blonde thin girl with curves in all the right places". Unfortunately she was shallow and in love with herself and our relationship only lasted about 2 weeks. So now I make sure that I get to know girls first before I go out with them. My current girlfriend is 5'3, weighs about 130, and I couldn't love her more.
PS: her thighs definitely touch...and I like it. ![]()
I definetely got more attention when I was fit and healthy, than I do now. Even though im near maintainance now - weighing 103lbs, guys paid more attention to me when I weighed 120lbs. I had boobs, and an ass - and a nice waist.
Guys dont "dig" fat, or thin. They like fit and healthy. And girls like fit, healthy guys.
Thats why we're all here aiming for that level, arent we?
Because we know it definetely looks best. ;)

Well I guess it depends on where you are. In the down south states the guys like a girl w/ meat on her bones. More than that it's how you carry your weight. If your weight is all flabby and all over the place, of course guys aren't going to be interested. But if it's nicely placed (like in the hips, butt and breasts) guys LOVE it. But again, it depends some on where you live. It also depends on what you dress like. I don't know about you guys but I don't know anyone who wants a gift in messed up wrapping.
I definitely got more attention as well when I was at a normal, healthy weight range--135 pounds at 5'8. Guys used to come up to me all the time. When I relapsed back into an eating disorder & started losing weight, then I just got ignored. Which brings me to the conclusion that men are just shallow b*stards & would rather look at a woman's body rather than trying to get to know her as a person.
I doubt that guys will "dig me" no matter how fit I become.
I think that skinnier looks better and I know that all guys don't have the same opinions.
plus when you look in bloke magazines they don't actually promot a skinny image, they've got ladies who are slim yes but the also have bums and boobs, i've actually yet to see anywhere except a catwalk that promotes a stick thin image. even thing its not a real reflection of what people what, cat walk modles are clothes horses, a designer wants someone to look at their clothes not some hot girl wearing it, they'd rather have the plain jane that sold their talent designing clothing
I don't really care what men in general are attracted to, it really depends on the man.
What I have found to be the most attractive to a man is....
BOOBS
tiny waist
HIPS
long TONED legs
Something like this...
5'5" 36-22-36, half of her being legs.
I've always found it kind of easy to achieve that body. Then again, only 8% of women actually have an "hourglass" body.
Just weighing however much you need to be at your "ideal" weight is usually very attractive.
Not to fat, not too skinny is usually attractive to all men
Being that the guys you reference to are in high school - they are boys, not men.
Men want a woman that looks like woman. They want hips, tits & something to grab on to.
Boys want a girl. A girl that looks more womanly than other girls probably scares them.
Mind you tastes differ, but really you shouldn't care what guys in high school think. Tastes change with age.

Something about the media's image of a woman's 'ideal' body shape:
Look at pictures of women in classical art, like the birth of Venus, or the Venus de Milo (picture her with arms)...Venus had been thought to have the epitome of female hottness, until Twiggy came along and screwed things up for real women...
What? Twiggy was a fashion model, not a sex symbol. None of the thinner girls of the '60s, like Veruschka or Jean Shrimpton, were on men's walls or anything. Those were girls like Raquel Welch, Sharon Tate.. etc, girls with curves. It's not like someone showed up in the fashion industry and changed society's view about attractiveness.
If your flabby that is NOT curvy. Curvy is just a euphamism for fat people. Thats dumb, if your fat your fat and you shouldn't be pittied for it.
When I think of curvy or sexy I think of Playboy, I mean, its a sex symbol. I don't think of fashion models, and I don't think of people at a size 14.

maybe he/she didn't say it as pleasantly as he/she could have, but i do agree.
curvy HAS become a euphemism. when i think of curvy, i think of relatively large boobs, a TINY waist and relatively large hips. it's just what comes to mind with that word.
it depends on how you're using the word "curvy."
Course, in guys dreams, they probably imagine a tall, leggy, Barbie-doll with big boobs, hips and a tiny waist with come prancing up in a miniskirt and ask them out...but c'mon, how many girls are there like that in reality?? more to the point, how many girls are there like that who are smart?...or nice [not bitchy]? or arent just sluts?

So you are saying guys are just like girls? GOT IT!
And r2r2, I avoid those girls, but then again I haven't been very lucky anyway.
Oh I know, It's ridiculous. I know so many cute guys that all say that skinny girls are gross, and that they like girls my size (average). But then all their girlfriends are complete sticks.
I don't understand why they lie. They might be trying to make you feel better but it just makes you feel worse dude.
