have you guys discovered Kale chips yet?

Quote  |  Reply

edit: i also just found out that kale chips have more calcium than milk!! and it also has all the nutrients needed for your bones to absorb the calcium, if you add a little fat to it [olive oil]!!

if someone were to close your eyes and put one in your mouth you would think you had discovered an ultra-crispy potato chip

they are soo yummy

you just get some kale [grocery store, somewhere near the lettuce] and bake it the oven for about 10 minutes until it crisps up

and season with whatever flavoring you like!! [ i like a little salt and vinegar]

at first they're a bit weird but after a while you start craving that crunch more than you crave potato chips

and you're eating vegetables, getting lots of nutrients, protein and fibre

and it's only 30 calories for 130 grams! which is quite a bit!

perfect snack for movie nights!

Good points

Cool! I love kale, mmm, but never thought of doing that!! Will have to try it ASAP, as crisps (or, potato chips to Americans...) are my downfall...

When you have a vegetable I can replace chocolate with - let me know!!

Actually, I suppose chocolate is originally a type of vegetable, hmmm...

Kale chips? Now that's original, I am going to have to try this. Who ever thought of making chips out of a green leafy veg?

Wow, great idea, how exactly do you make them though, tear off the leaves, put them on baking tray, then what temp.?

A recipe - gotta factor in some of the oil sticking...

i'll try it.  i love kale, too!

Oh wow, I want to try this!

yes there are tons of recipes and directions for this.. people have been doing it for years but I just recently heard about it, and wanted to share it with you guys

you wont believe how crispy they get

just type in 'kale chips recipe' into google and take your pick of flavours

i don't even put oil on mine, but i suppose 1tbsp of olive oil wont  hurt

also, as for an alternative to chocolate

i haven't found a vegetable sady..

but have you ever tried chocolate  flavored tea? 0 calories!

i mean i don't think  it's as effective as being a replacement as kale chips are, but you could try it

i love vanilla cream flavored tea

I get chocolate tea from Trader Joe's! When I first saw it, I thought "this is so weird, I HAVE to try it." And you know what? It's really tasty! A packet of Splenda and a little dash of light creamer - fabulous!

And thanks for posting about the kale chips, I'll try them this weekend!

never had kale but i love veggies so im gonna try this

i can't believe the flavors that tea comes in now

mint chocolate truffle?

butterscotch?

pecan pie?

i can totally add a couple extra spoonfuls to my dinners now and have tea for dessert with a little honey

So yeah, I'm totally trying this kale thing tomorrow. I'm going to coat them in a bit of olive oil, sea salt and apple cider vinegar. Should be awesome. :D

I've done it with collard greens and mustard greens.  Collards work beautifully, but the mustard greens are much too thin.  Just giving a little heads up =]

I haven't tried kale, but I'm guessing the end result is similar to seasoned laver (seaweed). I completely replace chips with seaweed because I'm really only craving the crispiness and salt, and it's only like 10 calories per package.

let me know how it goes to those of you trying it!!

This sounds different but I am willing to give it a try... Sounds good!

Thanks for sharing.

I tried it last night with the salt and vinegar.  My daughter spit the first bite out.  I at a couple then threw the rest in the garbage.  It was definetely NOT good.

THanks for this tip.  I just made some and it was great. Bought the bagged kale that had already been washed and cut and it worked perfectly.

Vegges into chips, i like it.
