What do you guys think about having fast food sometimes
For about a month I was not eating takeaways or junk food or sugar. I'm still off sugary foods and intend to stick with that because I don't really miss them, but recently I have increased my daily calories because I was feeling really tired and unwell and I do feel better eating a bit more. I still have a deficit but it's only about 300cal a day, I really want to lose weight but perhaps it's better for me to do things really gradually and sustainably because I tend to lose motivation.
I have also had fast food a few times, and the weird thing is that I have felt a lot better since I reintroduced it, sounds crazy I know. I don't want to go back to my old ways, but I would like to be able to have a burger or some fish and chips or fried chicken ocassionally..previously I was wanting to eat clean, but I don't know if that's realistic for me..I am eating a lot nutritious of food still though
The question is can I control myself with the junk food..I have so far but who knows.
Everything in moderation is okay. Moderation is key. ![]()
i really think people should never eat fast food (but i love it too). after a long time without it there would be no need to start eating junk again.
yep, listen to the bunny :)
Just watch your saturated fat intake. It is very easy to stay within whatever calorie range you want but take in double or more saturated fat (and sodium also!) with fast foods, fried foods, etc.
key word OCCASIONALLY and that is completely fine. you're not going to do any permanent damage by having fried chicken, french fries, or chicken nuggets every now and then. If you find that you are craving these foods then indulge a bit but consider it a rare occurrence and don't give in each and every time because it can become habitual and more and more normal but many people maintain their weight by eating the better fast food choice and are perfectly healthy. is it ideal, no, but it can be done.
To be honest, if I could fit it into my daily calorie allotment, I would LOVE to have a Big Mac or an In 'N Out cheeseburger and some of their fantastic fries. But, that one meal would be almost 2/3 of my day's calories. I'm sure that once I reach my goal, I'll treat myself once in a while.
I have fast food from time to time. The kids loves to go to Mc'ds everyonce in a while, and a few other places. I have to limit myself most of the time. It's something you can't over do or pig out on. One fast food meal can add up to 1200 calories like that. I ate fast food the other day, and my fat intake was super high that day. I normally stay within a range of 30-40 grams of fat. In one day I racked up 90grams of fat, and felt really bad about it. Bunny is right. You can have things in moderation. That's the key. I though I was doing good, but once I got home to my calories king calories counter book. I was shocked to see how fast I added 56grams to my intake, and that was lunch with the kids. If you do eat fast food. Just make smarter choices than I did. Eat in moderation.
I have lost my craving for fast food, but primarily because it makes me feel so awful. The biggest probblem with most fast food is in it's fat and salt content, not necessarily just the calories. I don't think it's good for you, even in moderation - but I guess that depends upon what you call "in moderation."
I guess I think of unhealthy fast food the same way I think about smoking - there is nothing redeeming or therapeutic about even one cigarette - there is nothing redeeming about fast food even in small amounts.
And then there's Subway......I DO believe there it is possible to find healthy "fast food"!
I have not had any fast food since February except for an occasional 6 inch veggie sub with no cheese and no sauce or oil and I feel great .I feel much better the way im eating now.I used to eat fast food almost everyday before i switched to my healthy lifestyle. Its ok in moderation I think my kids eat it still in moderation but I just perfer not to because of how I feel.
IMO I think eating perfectly clean is unattainable for most people. I KNOW it is for me.
Fast food and "unclean" food is fine as long as it is not your complete diet.
Example: On a trip we stopped for lunch at a McD's. I brought in some fruit with me and got a cheeseburger and small fry from the dollar menu. Mix the healthy with the fast...the water in the fruit offsets the sodium I think. I don't eat fast food much because I don't want to spend the money on it, but when I do it does not make me sick because I add the healthy stuff to it and I don't eat completely clean.
I have kept some fast food in my diet. I just know that whatever I eat, it has to fit within my 1200 calories per day, and if it doesn't, then I can't have it. Likewise, it is useful to know that a Volcano Burrito is 800 calories, and a Grilled Chicken Queso Burrito from Qdoba is over 1000 cals, so that's basically my WHOLE DAY - really can't do THAT anymore. But then, 1 taco is (not healthy) but tastes awesome and is only 170 calories, so that fits in a little better.
I have swapped my double cheesburger & large fries at McDonalds for a regular cheeseburger and small fries (518 cals total) which I can fit in occasionally . . .:-)
I will never be able to eat "all healthy" it's just not me and I think my body would go into shock!!! I also feel better when I've had some "junk" :-)
BTW, I've lost 25 bls since July, so this method does work for me.
Everybody needs to grab a quick bite every now and then and quick serve restaurants are great for that. The food at some of them is good. I don't and I wouldn't recommend making them part of your regular diet though. But every now and then they are fine. Actually I wouldn't recommend making any restaurant part of your regular diet but eating out every now and then is fine. I eat out about once a week, twice some weeks, but usually it's not a QSR.
