How do you guys plan on dealing with easter?

Quote  |  Reply

I mean, other than the huge amounts of chocolate, I also have a huge family dinner to survive...

I'm thinking I'll let myself eat whatever I want (well, I'll probably still try not to get too ridiculous) on Easter, and then workout extra and try not to eat too much chocolate afterwords.

How do you guys plan on not gaining huge amounts of weight because of one day?

You think your chocolate cravings are gonna be bad? Try experiencing this holiday at the very beginning of your TOM! Oooh boy, Easter is going to be a killer for me this year. I already asked my mom if she'd buy my an entire chocolate silk pie JUST for me. No sharing. She's also getting a cheesecake for the rest of the family, and a regular cake for good measure.

On top of that, we're having the dinner part of Easter at Claim Jumper, so there's pretty much no restaurant anywhere that's worse than that.

I have resigned myself to indulging in a ridiculous binge. I will take my carb blockers in advance, which supposedly cut down on 600 calories of carbs for 2000 mg. I have also prepared by being very good all week so I have some wiggle room sunday.

I figure I'll put away 4000-5000 calories that day if I eat nothing other than my claim jumper meal and my pie. But I suspect I'll eat other things too because I have no willpower.

I will gain at least a pound from this, but it's the only big family holiday between Christmas and Thanksgiving, so I'm still looking forward to the hedonistic excess.

^Ha! Yeah, I feel you on the large family gathering bit.

As for my plans, I have 2 months to lose about 13 lbs so I have to be a tad more careful. I plan on sticking to my calorie plan. I probably won't eat breakfast-because I never do, will keep lunch tiny, and eat a pretty big dinner. The big thing for me will be keeping the chocolate to a minimum. I will eat a piece or two but this year I will not succomb to chocolate death.

We just had a big family easter brunch today (friday) and I ate quite a bit! I had a little bit of everything, which added up to probably quite a lot overall lol. Pancakes with berries and greek yogurt, scrambled eggs, bacon etc etc and of course a bit of chocolate. Most I've eaten in AGES. And I'm soo full but it was fun and delicious so I'm not worried :) I think for a big brunch, I handled it pretty well! I don't feel guilty because it's just one meal and once the sodium is out of me I probably won't even have gained any permanent weight. So enjoy it! :D

I am going to give myself a few days though before I start eating the actual chocolate EGGS I've been giving....once I open them I have a feeling I might have problems with portion control :P So I need to mentally prepare myself LOL

That's my problem right there.  I'm starting to think maybe the easiest way to eliminate this problem is to just eat everything right off the bat, that way I don't have to worry about bingeing later :P

i plan on eating a little bit of everything (especially chocolate!).. but most importantly, i just plan on having a good time with my family Smile

I gave up chocolate, candy, chips AND soft drinks for lent, so I don't think one day of binging will kill me. I'll just swim for a few hours at the pool.

Haha, I live alone, I am an only child and have no family in my state and my parents work over seas so I have NO temptation!

I never feel like over indulging on occasions like Easter because I tend to let myself do it more regularly

In Australia, an innovative new company has invented chocolate that is made WITHOUT cooking it; it is just cocoa, cocoa powder, and the specific flavors ( such as mint oil in the mint flavor)

They basically mold pure raw chocolate into a block of chocolate, without adding any sugar or milk or cheapening ingredients that add bulk - it just pure chocolate - it is SO GOOD. Best quality chocolate I have ever had.

If any one wants pure, raw, healthy chocolate that IS ACTUALLY CHOCOLATE but without the bad stuff added to it, then let me know and I’ll give you the website to order some! They have original flavors that no other chocolate brand in the world has invented.

I PROMISE it is real chocolate, not some watered down “ health” product; you just pay a little extra for the trouble they go to make the chocolate without adding bad ingredients to cheapen it down, like emulsifiers, milk powder, and etc.

This chocolate has SAVED me from ever wanting to indulge at Easter, and I am a chocolate lover!

personally im not worried about easter as someone else stated they live alone well im pretty much the same i live with my 2 young kids so i will do them the pancake breaky whilst i stick to an egg white omlete and then jsut have normal lunch and dinner. chocolate meh that also doesnt bother me i believe if weight loss is what you are truly wanting then you will be able to overcome these temptations and stay on the right track

It is not the chocolate that will bother me.  I only eat 85% dark chocolate.

It is the ham that my daughter is going to make.  Ham is a trigger food for me.  I can not leave it alone, if it is in the house, it is in my mouth.  I don't even care if anything else gets put on my plate.

spoiled_candy, I love the almost pure dark chocolate too!

But unfortunately so does the rest of my family. And most of the easter candy they buy is dark chocolate or peanut-butter.

My grandmom just gave me the meal plan for our Easter dinner.  Ham, sweet potatoes (and the unhealthy candied sweet potatoes too for those not on diets in my house), beets, and asparagus.  YUM!  And I'm completely avoiding chocolate; it didn't even cross my mind to have any on Sunday.

LOL I am so weak....as we speak I'm demolishing some chocolate already....but I did a big workout this morning so hopefully that makes up for it? Haha :P

Why do people have “ Easter dinner” or “ Easter lunch”

I am not sure if it has anything to do with what Easter is technically supposed to me? Is it just an opportunity to spend time with the family? Just curious, as I have not been brought up to celebrate Easter - my parents spoil me though ( only child) and gave me A LOT of eggs!

My mum would leave a trail of small Easter eggs outside my bedroom, and I would follow the trail of eggs to another room where there would be a BIG Easter toy, along with A LOT of HUGE different Easter eggs! as in, A LOT of eggs!

I definitely know that chocolate has NOTHING to do with Easter….

I basically think that people who over indulge at Easter are just using it as an excuse - it is much smarter to just let yourself indulge several times through out the year so that you don’t HAVE to pretend that Easter some how has this huge association with over eating chocolate….

Fair enough, there are different types of chocolate that are EVERYWHERE, so it should be a time to try different types of chocolate, like the Easter eggs…. but I still think it is stupid to use Easter as an excuse to have too much.

Wow...that is so true.  Pretty much all month, I've been thinking "don't eat too much junk food, Easter is coming, you can eat all you want then, etc." without even realizing.

For a lot of people, Easter is one of those holidays that brings the whole family together, and for a lot of families, that means there needs to be a lot of food.

After reading this, though, I'm going to try to not use it as an excuse to go crazy...just because there's chocolate doesn't mean I have to eat it all in one sitting.

I'll avoid it (chocolate) yet treat myself. :) Just remember food isn't everything so enjoy the company of your family and loved ones surrounding you.

Have a good one!

I'm just gonna enjoy Easter without going completely overboard. I'm just gonna eat a granola bar and some green tea for breakfast and the rest of the day's calories is open for everything that looks good. x3 And dinner I know I'll try to control myself.

DARN YOU FOOD-BASED HOLIDAYS! o3o

So I started off well but it all went downhill haha....having a lot of chocolate around seriously tests my willpower (which apparently isn't so good!) BUT I have hidden the rest of the chocolate and I am DONE with being off track. Little bit scared of any weight I may have gained but oh well not long and it will be back to normal - gotta keep moving forward!

the boyfriend and i will spend easter sunday together once i get off wk [7am] and sleep & wake up again......

we've got to watch this movie that he watches every year traditionally about Christ, i forget what its called, and we also have to pack to go on vacation!

once all that's done we are walkin up the street to birch tree dining where we will eat a good meal at the bar & then get pretty tipsy and walk our happy selves back home.

i'm not worried about ruinin my allowance or anything, gna enjoy the meal & eat plenty of fresh produce with it/ the rest of the day before & after.

pretty sure i didnt get an easter basket, so no real worries about candy or anything...

im exctied!

I thought I'd try to "prepare" myself more for it, but I'm actually (surprisingly) not really stressing about it at all. it's pretty much like a normal day for me; I planned out my breakfast, lunch, & snack, and will just eat what my mom makes for dinner. Fortunately I'm maintaining, so there's less to worry about I suppose. I'm probably just gonna eat a serving of lasagna as opposed to the reast of the food (ham, baked beans, etc. I can eat them whenever I want, plus there'll be leftovers). As for dessert, I'll probably be full. But I'll make sure my mom saves a slice of cheesecake for me. I can control myself around the candy and everything else.

I still wish I could go running today, but it's too cold here, and I'm not in the mood to bundle up and freeze.

Well I just ate a bag of chocolate for breakfast, so I guess that's how I'm dealing.

Happy Easter!
