**spoilers if you haven't read the Half Blood Prince**

So don't tell me what happens next! lol  I'm on the Half Blood Prince and I have 4 more chapters to go.

  • I'm anxious to know if Hermione and Ron will every actually admit that they like each other
  • I giggled out loud when Harry kissed Ginny!
  • I can't believe that Snape (so far) has lied the whole time and earned the trust of Dumbledore when he's still loyal to Voldemort
  • What is Malfoy up to and is he really a death eater? I wonder if he will be the one who kills Harry in the end?

Ok, so tonight's chapter is the Lighting-struck Tower...  I can't believe we read this book so fast.

So, since you guys know all these answers, does it drive you nuts that you can't tell me??? lol

I was really happy when Percy finally lost that stick up his rear!!!

Me too!  But now Fred is dead.. I'm not even going to get into that!  grrrr

Yeah...if there was ONE thing I could change about that book, it would be Fred Cry

I finished the last book!  It was fantastic!!!!!!!

I'm so glad Snape wasn't bad afterall and Harry didn't die!  I heard that he had so I was already resolved to that.. but when he came back.. I can't tell you how happy I was! I was so choked up when all the troops rallied - Centaurs, House Elves - - Kreacher <3.. townsfolk, parents..  And Mrs Weasley killing Bellatrix and Harry telling off Riddle.. making him to be the fool before he killed him.. ahhh, sweet justice!

Harry's 3 children.. Did anyone else think that his eldest son, James, was like Fred?  How cool was that to name the other one Albus Severus.. and little red headed Lilly.. awww...  I'm wondering where Ron and Hermoine came up with the name Hugo though? haha

Who was Teddy snogging? Violete or something? Do you think that was George's daughter?

The only thing I wished that would have been added was more on George and Luna and who was the headmaster/mistress...  and I wonder where Ron and Harry are living. I'd like to know what everyone's current jobs are as well.

Anyway, thanks for letting me ramble on here about what you guys already knew!!  I can't WAIT for the movies!!!

Edit - I went to Rowling's site and found out a few more bits of info.. The Weasley's family tree!

Bill & Fleur have 3 children (one was Victoire so she's the one that's been snogging with Lupin/Tonk's kid, Teddy).

Charlie - not married, no kids

Percy is married with 2 kids (Molly & Lucy)

George is married with 2 kids (Fred & Roxanne)

..... and not in the Weasly tree.. Luna is married with 2 kids too!

Update on Harry - he is head Auror as of 2007!

Thanks star, I miss him.

Anytime, Madam :)

So, Jennifer, would you say you were satisfied with the ending??

I was very satisfied with the ending! I'm glad Harry lived and Voldemort was defeated.. it was great!  The only thing I didn't like was, like you, that Fred was killed... also, I was a bit disappointed in the Epilogue.. I thought that was rushed and I wanted a bit more info on the rest of the characters.

I'm having Potter withdrawls though!

Where you satisfied with the ending?

i haven't read this thread for a while... but reliving the last book through yur eyes was amazing!   we just finished Order of the phenox with my daughter and are starting the half blood prince.  she is catching the hints of darkness to come, and she listens to daddy read with wide eyes, cuddeled up with me.  I am glad to have the preview/ review through your eyes... i am pretty sure by her reactions she will be ok... but it does give me stuff to watch for.

so, we know your reactions... how did your son take it all? or is he as far in the book (were your reactions the preview for his?)

Mmm, you know, I have heard from a LOT of people that the ending seemed forced and rushed.  Yes, I was satisfied, but I did expect a bit more from the Epilogue also...

Well I didn't find the book itself forced or rushed like I've heard others mention.. just the Epilogue.

jessiemccrory -

I read these books with my son and we experienced them together.  He loved them - he would stop me and give me his thoughts and takes on what was going to happen and moaned when the chapter ended and he had to go to bed!   The deaths in the books didn't affect him like it did me. He would say 'aww man' but he never cried like I did..hahaha  But, he's a 5th grade boy and so your little girl might be more affected since she's, well, a girl! :) But it's ends up so happy that it makes up for it.

this weekend we read the part where Sirus died, and i was all choked up for harry (again) but she was kind of "huh... so he died...ok, bummer."  I was surprized by her lack of reaction and had to check that she actually understood what happened.  but she listens wide eyed and beggs for more when bed time comes.  Interesting.  i was kind of putting it up to her age or something... maybe it is a lack of experiencing (or even imagining) death... if that is the case i am glad it isn't phasing her.

lol, that's how my son was!  I was the one crying and he was like, bummer.. ok, what's next?

ok, so we are almost at the end of the Half Blood Prince now, (my 7yo daughter M, hubbie and i)and she just figured out D is really dead.  she listened wide eyed while daddy read.  and then after we put her to bed and tucked her in, i heard crying from her room. so i checked, and found she was sobbing about D.  so, she cried and i comforted, and we left the bedroom doors open last night (which gave the kittens the oppurtunity to attack hubbie and i through the night)

anyway, hubbie hasn't read the books, but i have.  i was suggesting maybe we should wait a bit before starting Deathly Hollows.  She got the Bard book a week ago from nana, and we could read that first...hubbie dosen't think so.  I think he wants to know what happens next.  M will probably choose whatever daddy wants her to.  i am a bit worried that it will be too much for her.... i just don't know.

Heh.  I had to give myself a break in between.  Sounds a bit silly, but I was emotionally exhausted after poor Dumbledore, and I felt I couldn't give the next book the attention it deserved.

i brought up the possibility of taking a break last night as we were finishing up.  hubbie was counting the pages (about 30 left) and said maybe 3 more nights of reading.  M is still hoping something will happen and D will come back.  so i said, "you know, some sad things may happen in the last book too... are you up for it?"  and she immediatly answered no.  she was so vehement daddy was surprized.  so he suggested the Bard... and then asked if she would want to read the last book at all.  which she assured us she did.  we left it at her choice when this one is done which she WANTS to start next.  we'll see.

I miss Dobby!!!
