To gym or not to gym!!!
I am wondering if any one is experiencing the same thing I am. I am hitting the gym 4x a week. I do Torso 2x and legs/arms 2x with 60 minutes cardio.
Well, for two weeks I did not go to the gym as I was working around the house and noticed I lost more weight by not hitting the gym than when I do. Food stayed constant and work level stayed constant. The only change was the gym.
Any one experience this or have any idea what is going on?
About me:
Starting Weight (Jun ish): 322 lbs (Feb 15,2009 / 39yo / 5'11)
Current Weight: 255 lbs
Total Weight Loss to date: 67 lbs
Any help would be greatly appreciated.
Pete
i would def say Gym, for one you are a guy and who wants a nonmuscular dude, lol. but seriously it may take a little longer or you may start to loose .5 pds less a week but muscle building is important for bone health.
Gym!!!! I wouldn't rely as much on the scale because the difference might be only water retention. Strength training do cause some swelling but on the long run you'll burn more fat and look awesome. Try measuring yourself instead of just relying on the scale. Keep your workout schedule but keep adding some exercise variations to avoid adaptation. If you repeat the same routine over months, I heard your body becomes more efficient and you'll burn less fat. By the way, congratulations on your weight loss, you're doing awesome! Keep it up!
Muscle weighs more than fat...GYM
Losing weight after not working out is probably due to water and muscle weight. I can pretty much guarantee you didn't lost more fat by NOT working out. Tired muscles retain water, working out regularly, this weight doesn't really go away until you stop working out. And at a calorie deficit, you're body is perfectly ok with eating muscle instead of fat, so extra weight loss may also mean some loss of muscle mass.
If you're goal is just to lose weight, cut off a leg. If you want to lose fat and/or be healthy, stick with the workout.

Thanks Minda,
Any suggestions on the easiest and fastest way to cut off a leg? lol. I am currently having 1500 calories and am going to try to up that to 1800. I think my calories might have something to do with it as well.
We shall see. Thank you all for your feedback.
Congrats on the loss so far!
I think you need to up your calories to 1800. We are very similar from where I started and where your at right now. I am 5' 11" and was 250 when I started and am 190 currently with those last 10 pounds to go to be a heathly BMI. I never dipped below 1700 calories and most of the time was around 2000 and even higher depending on the workout. I have been stuck at 190 for awhile now so I went up to my maintenance of 2300-2500 for the last couple weeks and am going to see if this will break the stalemate. I have also had my gym time cut, lots of travel for work and kids activities. I am hoping my body will respond well to the shock of getting back to the gym.
Good luck and keep working at it, it will come off!
Is my sodium intake too low?
You have nothing to worry about because sodium deficiency is extremely rare. In fact, there is not even an recommended Dietary Allowance (RDA... Read more
