No gym membership so how to lift at home
Hey everyone. I am wanting to try this program, I already lift at home. I am fortunate enough to have to benches and free weight dumbells ranging from 10-75lbs courtesy of my Father-in-law who is a trainer. The question I have is how am I supposed to do things like Lat pull downs at home? I don't have a bar either.
Any suggestions would be great. I am trying to get back in shape and lose some significant fat and gain musle.
Thanks!!! ![]()
I also work out at home. There are some suggestions in the book for doing things at home. I was doing pull-overs and bent-over rows instead of pull-downs.
I also got a chinup bar and sometimes I will try to do negative chinups in place of lat pulldowns.
I can warn you that you may have to buy some more plates sooner than you might think. For things like deadlifts you can gfet up to 90-100 pounds fairly quickly. Of course plates aren't that expensive.
I work out at home too.
I do pullups or chinups (depending on if they say overhand or underhand) for the lat pulldowns. I started by having my fiance lift me, and I did negatives, and now I can do the first few on my own, and he helps me after that.
We got one of those pullup bars that hooks over a doorframe but doesn't need to be installed (we rent)
Any other exercises you're not sure about?
Thanks. I have good news! My Father-in-law stopped by and is giving me a bar and lots of plates. He also told me exercises to do in place of some of the ones in the book. When I used to workout with him he trained me like the training is done in the book. It didn't take long and he hit all the major muscle groups and made me use significant weight so he pretty much agrees with most of the book. He has been in the business forever and a competitive power lifter all his life.
