So I just joined world gym and I am super excited. The guy said he was giving me a good student deal (even though im not a student). I am signed up for 3 months at 120 dollars flat right and I get unlimited tanning - I love to tan.
I havent signed the contract yet, its all written up and ready. Is this a good deal?
What do you guys pay for your memberships;
darn, i didn't check where you live....cuz prices do vary! hahahah
I just signed up w a new gym. I got a couple's membership (and a great deal as my sis is an employee) so I pay 30/month (yours for 3 months is 40/month)....but single memberships in my area around 35-45 at most places......
The unlimited tanning is a plus (I get that, too, but again, my sis works there)! I'd say it's a decent deal, especially since it's a short contract, which a lot of places don't have, you can't do under a year! Generally the shorter the contract, the higher the monthly fee. Seems about right!
That is a pretty good deal I think....but it depends on what you want. If you want World Gym with its trainers and tanning and top-notch facilities then go for it. If you go to the gym to just do your thing there are definately better ways.
The Planet Fitness in my town is really nice, has tons of machines, free weights, club certified trainers etc...but it lacks experts, pool, tanning, classes etc. It is $99 for 2009. It is a bright, clean, happy place, but is by no means of World Gym caliber.

You should find out how much the monthly fee will be AFTER those 3 months.
I pay $61.95/month (taxes in).
If you want just bare bones workout, check for a Fitness 19 in your area. They just have changing rooms, no showers, but I pay $15/month. The one I go to has everything I could want, just no extras like racquetball, basketball, swimming, tanning, etc. Just the treadmills, ellipticals, free weights, machines, and things like that.
Well I started off paying $35 bucks a month. I picked that gym because the location was great, had tons of machines, personal trainers, unlimited tanning, etc. But I ended up dropping it after 2 months because I work at a hospital and they decided to remodel their employee gym! So now I pay NOTHING to go to the gym and use top of the notch equipment! Pays to have hospital benefits haha!
Jes
It depends on the equipment and services available, but it sounds like a reasonable deal.
I have had a super crappy gym, that had ancient crappy equipment in a tiny cramped room and it was 25$ a month, which was okay cause I was a broke student at the time.
Now I pay 62$ a month for a really nice gym with free training huge weight spaces and a TON of cardio machines. I dont mine paying extra for the nicer digs.
so in conclusion (hahahaha) 120 for 3 months at a nice gym sounds good to me.
yeah I chose it for the location for sure. its only about 2 blocks away from where I live and I dont have a car.
My friend said hed hook me up with another deal after the 3 months was up if I wanted to continue to go. So itll work out I think. Im super excited!
$40 a month is not bad for a world gym membership with all the extras that you get. You pay that much at the YMCA without the tanning, some bally's charge you more than that without even a sauna or pool. But find out how much the monthly payments will be after the 3months, before you sign the contract.

Sign It!! That is a pretty good deal and you can't beat the location and the terms. Watch out for those tanning beds though. My youngest daughter's team mate got Mersa from one.
Sounds reasonable to me. I pay more than that at both my gyms ($47 at our corporate gym, includes $10 laundry service and lots of cool, conveniently timed group classes; $59 at health club, for its indoor track and lap pool)
I go to world gym too and I love it! I also pay 40 a month, for me it's the same thing, I can reach it by bike, which for me is the important part of the deal, if it would have been further away I would not go as often as I do now and in the end that is what counts for me, I'd go with it if I was you.......
Sign It! thats a good deal w. the free tanning, I wish my gym did free tanning offers. but what is it after the 3 months? I pay 43 a month it was under 40 but they are doing contruction and replacing all the equipment so its a rather good deal.
I work for a World Gym so my membership is $0. That is a killer rate. I hope you enjoy it!
look to see if there is a planet fitness in your area i pay $10 a month and a annual fee of $20
Compared to the membership fees in NYC (where I live), that sounds like a great deal!!
That seems like a great deal!
I'm London (and a member of Esporta) and paid approx. £700 for a year ($1000?), which seems a lot but the facilities are second to none.
that's the norm, even better though if you get unlimited tanning. if you have to sign a contract though make sure you read the fine print so that can't raise the price on you or anything like that. i personally pay less than $20 a month for my membership, but i pay a year in advance. good luck with your membership, i'm sure you'll have a blast.
Sounds like a great deal.
Im paying $70 a month, minimum 1 year contract with NO tanning privileges (that costs an extra $1.30 per minute)
So I'm all pasty PLUS getting ripped off at the same time.
Your deal sounds good. Go for it!
i have a membership at 24 hour fitness and its great. I can go to any gym i like, with great hours, and i only pay $30/month. NO TANNING though. i guess it a good deal if you like to tan!
I have a gold's gym membership for $42 a month, with employee discount.
Can I encourage you not to use the tanning booth all the time? it's bad for your skin in the long run, and can cause skin cancer just like too much sunburn.
Can I burn calories watching television?
By using the Activity Browser in the Exercise section, I found that an individual of your height and weight burns 72 calories per hour... Read more
