gym motivation afterwork..

Quote  |  Reply

for the LIFE of me I will NOT goto the gym after a day of work! I don't know what it is.. maybe just want to come home and relax, its busy at 530, im tired from working all day.. excuses excuses! I like to do the gym early like 6 am but sometimes I need the extra sleep instead of the workout so I'm not a tired grouch all day.. for those that go in the evening, what really gets you going after your day? It really irritates me I havent gone in about 4 days because of it which isn't the end of the world but geez.

I hear ya! what works for me is... just doing it, don't over think it, just change clothes and drag your lazy butt hahaha that's what I tell myself and what I do, I will definitely rather go after work than waking up earlier than I already have to.

I go after work. I know what you mean after a long day at work you don't want to do it. What works for me is that I pack a gym bag so I don't have to go home first. (If I was at home there would be no way to get my butt back in the car to make it to the gym). Then I just drive there. Even on the days I don't want to work out I just drive there. There have been days I sat in my car outside the gym for an hour on the phone procrastinating. But eventually I'm like what am I doing in here, I need to get home sometime tonight and I just go in. It works for me.

everyone is different after work is amazing for me.. but i have friends that go in teh morning and crash after work on teh sofa and some that cram the gym in at lunchtime..

just find a routine that works for you and keep going :) perhaps you need to try a different type of exercise or a class...

I was at the gym this morning at 5... and right now it's 4pm and I still feel energetic and revved up! I love going to the gym every morning before my day starts cause it really puts "pep in my step"... Honestly, if I didn't go... I'd probably fall asleep the second I sat down in class! I even said that in my class today and everyone said to me that they could NEVER imagine me sleeping, because I am so pumped from my work out...

I think since you can't motivate yourself to get to the gym after work, you should try your hardest to make it in before work: even if you can only make yourself do 10 minutes! Make those 10 minutes intense, and then be on your way! It's better than nothing!! :)

Then after work, you don't have to feel so guilty if you just wanna crash or sit on your couch for the rest of the evening.... unless of course you crave for the take out Chinese food! ha ha.

My biggest motivation for getting to the gym afterwork is it actually helps me eat a lot less in the evenings. If I get home at 5:30pm then I usually have dinner and end up snacking later on at like 8 or 9. If I go to the gym, I get home around 7:00pm, cook and eat dinner around 7:30, and then I'm usually good for the rest of the night.

Also I agree with the other posters who said get to the gym before you go home. If I went home first the gym would never happen.

thanks for the advice guys.. just in case ill leave gym clothes in my car and my extra gym shoes.. its so funny because ive sat in my car after work texting for like a half hour cause i dont want to go in hahha.. but doing it before work definately does get me going, but you know, all the good shows come on late so sometimes im up past the time i should be sleeping .. and chinese take out is def a no go hahaa

I happen to be in the military and my workout  is a part of my workday. But if i had to go in the evening, i would never make it, so your not along on that one.

Go when you can.  I pack my gym bag and toss it in the car and I dont go home until Ive hit the gym.

Decide what is important to you.  Write your goals down and exercise that body daily.

You can do it.  Believe in yourself and create a beautiful habit.

As many above me have said, just go straight there.  Don't think about it.  Certainly, don't go home first.  I found if I went home first, I never made it to the gym.  Pack your gym clothes in a bag, keep it in your car and just go.

Oddly enough, I work out at home now.  I've made it routine, but it was hard at first.  I come home, pound my pre-workout drink (JACK3D, it's awsome), change clothes, eat a snack, check email/chores etc for 30 minutes or so, then work out.  I then continue my day as if I just got home from work.

I think routine is the key word here.  Just tell yourself, "This is how my day goes:  I go to work, I go to the gym after work, then I go home."  There really isn't thing else I can say to motivate you.

success.. went after a 9 hour work day only because i drove straight there.. busted out an hour of cardio and arms and back.. wasnt as bad as i thought haha.

AHA ya see?  It isnt so bad and I bet you are pretty proud of yourself as well.  Good for you!
