Hair loss
ok so im a little bit worried!
I noticed last night when washing my hair i had quite a lot fall out. now im eating a really good diet, im up on the A grades on the system, and i take multivitamins, iron, codliver oil etc etc. im 5'4'' eating 1400cals a day and my defecit is never over 1000.
is this just a summer malting or is it a sign of something else?
I wouldn't worry about it unless it continues for awhile... like more than a week or so.
I've heard that your hair has natural cycles where large amounts of it can fall out. I have hair half way down my back and I periodically notice large amounts of it coming out, but it hasn't noticeably thinned so I don't worry about it.
Oh, I guess you might also be concerned if the texture or "healthiness" of it has changed. If it's very brittle or dry feeling it might be a concern.
Hmm. Are you sure it wasn't just breakage? How much is a lot? o_o Consider factors like if you dye your hair (usually leaving hair more brittle, I know it has mine, lol) and heat/dryness. If it was really a lot of hair falling out - as in, enough to cover a large part of the palm of your hand - see your doctor.
hmmm it wasnt like clumps of hair just a relatively large amount of strands. i used to dye my hair a lot when i was younger but i havent touched the dye since last july, so that shouldnt be a problem. it has been really hot here but iv been drinking lots of water which hopefully will mean im not dehydrated. i dont know what the answer is. i mean i get the odd strands here and there but this morning was pretty excessive :S
I loose a lot of hair when I shower and brush my hair. I have no idea why, I don't think it is my diet. I think it is because I used to dye my hair all the time. If you are worried see a doctor if it keeps happening.
I actually noticed this awhile ago with myself; I could lose upwards of 20 strands in one showering session. It's been going on awhile now and I haven't noticed any signs of thinning or brittleness otherwise; I think before, I had simply not noticed. Having asked around and done a bit of research into it, it's pretty normal to have those strands fall out; it's just hair replenishing itself. You've got thousands of spares left and new ones are still growing in; I wouldn't worry about it.
If the problem continues to nibble at the edges of your mind, you could try refraining from putting your hair into tight ponytails or buns if you do that, or stop blowdrying and/or straightening your hair. Pulling your hair back can cause tension on strands and sometimes pull them out (I know I'm fond of wearing mine up), and heat can definitely damage your hair over time.
