Hair Loss...

Quote  |  Reply
These last three weeks I have been losing so much hair...and I am starting to freak out! I am only 19 years old so it can't be the age factor and school hasn't started yet so it isn't stress...I read in past posts that losing weights might make you lose great amount of hair too..So far I have lost 30 pounds in 4 months. I also read that vitamin B helps regain hair loss so I am taking currently taking multivitamins...

Had this happened to anyone and what did you do to reverse the problem?

sorry, i dont have any advice

but i think i am losing more hair than normal too :(   so i am interested in what people's solutions are as well.
I dont want to scare you or anything but the first thing that comes to my mind is LUPUS.  The disease Lupus is an autoimmune disease.  In an autoimmune disorder like lupus, the immune system cannot tell the difference between foreign substances and its own cells and tissues. The immune system then makes antibodies directed against itself. These antibodies -- called "auto-antibodies" (auto means 'self') -- cause inflammation, pain and damage in various parts of the body.  The main outer symptoms are reddish "butterfly" shaped discoloration across the nose under the eyes and hair loss.

If nothing else you could just be shedding, change in diet perhapps?  If the condition worsens, I would go see a doctor.
I have probs with hair loss, too.  I think it has something to do with my thyroid, but I've never had it checked out.  There are free disease screenings occasionally, and I could go to one of those. . . but even if I found out it's my thyroid, then what?  I can't afford to see a doctor for treatment.  So I haven't bothered to check.
Some shampoos make my hair fall out.  Did you change you shampoo recently?  Also changing your diet might affect hair loss.

so, i went to the doctor to get a blood test, and the results were there were nothing wrong with me. so my doctor said that may be u r using too much shampoo...but i dont...kinda freak out right now...
Strands of my hair are always all over after I comb or brush it. I get sick of it falling out, but it's not like I'm going bald, so I guess it's ok...
When I lost 40 pounds I lost SOOOOOOOOO MUCH HAIR!It would be a GREAT idea to get some more vitamin B in your life. You should look into taking a couple COMPLETE multies! Sadly it will probably take 6 months to regrow, after it stops falling out (depends how long it took you to lose weight): but dont worry it DOES grow back! Mine did and is a lot thicker than it used to be! (WIth the help of the TONS of vitamins I take too!!!!)
It sucks I know, just dont wear FLEECE because hair attaches itself SOOOO easily to it, as I know WAY TO WELL!
Congrats on losing 30 pounds though, unless you did it in an unhealthy fashion! ha!
