Hair loss!
ok so after 3 months of undereating, losing 25 pounds and also mens cycle....I decided to eat healthy again and be healthy.
after a month or 2 after i started eating a normal amount of cals I noticed that my hair started to fall out in hand fulls....I thought...this is ok cos I became extremely malnourished and hairloss is just one of the side effects of anorexia nervosa right?...its been nearly 4 months...and Im STILL losing hair....ok right now im not losing as much as I was before.....but Im still losing quite a lot of hair regardless, and my hair is visibly thin. Its even weirder how Ive lost most of my hair from one side of my head (the crown or frontal area) so much that i can see my scalp...its really scary and I sort of wanted to know if anyone has been through this? :( is it ok to still be losing hair after 3 months of eating normal again??? My dad who's a doctor says thats its normal, cos I have a lot of hair in my head and its taking a while for me to grow new healthy hair and throw out the old dead one....I dunno, thing is he always says that Im "fine" lol regardless of how sick I may be...(he has said the same thing for years now each time I ask him about something that I notice thats wrong with me)
anywho, I'd feel a lot better if there's more people who went through something similar or is going through this as well....and if you have gone through this, did your hair grow back? :(
help!!
Congrats on deciding to get better. Standing up and fighting against your ED is hard work, but it is worth it. I am still struggling but feel as if I am stronger for it and we deserve good health and will find happiness and be stronger for it.
My hair also started thinning drastically and falling out in clumps after eating healthier and taking in a good amount of calories. This is because the old hair was unhealthy and now its dying to make way for the growth of new and healthier hair, so don't worry, chicka, we may look like we're going through chemo for a while, but your hair should return thicker and healthier in no time if you stay on the road to recovery ^^
Start taking more vitamins, i went through the same thing.
Your hair will eventually grow back without the vitamins but they do help tremedously
