half way now- wanna speed it up
Hey everyone,
I have been controlling my calories since end of November and have lost 11lbs.
I feel and look so much better and now I cant wait to be my goal weight as I can imagine how fabulous it will be!!!
Just wish the weight would go faster as am half way now and am getting a bit tired of it. I have 10lbs to go and am wondering what I can do to loose it quicker? I suppose exercise is the only thing to speed it all up? Any hints and tips would be great!
Thanks![]()
Well, I think that 11 pounds in about 8 or 9 weeks is pretty good already. If you're tired of it already, then getting more agressive about it may only make you more tired of it. Besides, studies have shown that slower weight loss is healthier and more likely to stay off in the long term.
As for getting "tired of it", it might help for you think about it differently - eating healthy is a lifestyle, not just a limited time deal in order to lose 20 lbs. Once you get to your goal, you can't just let go and expect it to stay off.
It sounds like you need an altered strategy that's easier to live with in the long term rather than accelerated weight loss. What about your current eating and exercise plan are you tired of?
I dont do any exercise other than bout 30mins walk a day. I'm sure that if i exercise it will fall off quicker? I dont know what exercises to do tho really as i dont want to go to the gym.
I have a much better attidude to food now though as i know that i dont need to eat everything that i see!
F-yeah it will come off quicker! Not only that, but you'll gain muscle for definition. As you lose weight you'll notice sagging & other than plastic surgery there is no other way to fix it other than building muscle to fill it out & tone up your skin.
I hate "the gym." I LOVE exercise videos & strength training at home. I have a rotation of videos from Blockbuster.com & some others that I've purchased (Biggest Loser Power Sculpt & some of the Tae Bo series).
I've found going to classes regularly keeps me going. I go to a yoga class @ a local studio 4x/week &, until I broke my hand, trained in Muay Thai 5x/week (I started with NO experience & developed into a Bantamweight)
I also joined a sports league... it's really friendly & I had NO experience playing any sports before I started. Now I play flag football, softball & dodgeball! It's SO fun... you might have one like it where you are: http://www.underdogseattle.com/
These really helped me develop extra-cirricular activities besides going out to dinner or cooking ellaborate meals.
Bump up the activity & change your life! You will feel AWESOME!

Well I have 1300 calories a day and just now i feel like i'm missing out and its getting me down especially as i think of that ive still got all that way to go.

Well, 1300 is pretty low, IMO. The recommended minimum for adult females is 1200 a day, and that's supposed to be after you factor in exercise. If you decide to exercise more, be sure to compensate by taking in enough calories so that your overall "net intake" is at least 1200. You should also consider that there have been many cases of people staying at 1200 for a certain period of time, and it results in a weight loss stall. Sometimes increasing calorie intake, along with exercise, will accelerate weight loss. Have you used the CC tools to see what your recommended calorie intake should be for your goals?
And, if you are feeling like you're "missing out", you can get some great recipes and healthy, filling meal and snack ideas that might help out with that here on CC. Finding a way to fill yourself up healthy so you don't feel deprived is very important.
Besides, be careful about putting yourself in a rush to lose weight. Losing it slower is healthier, and trying to lose it too quickly could actually be unhealthy (a maximum of 2 lbs a week is the recommendation by CC.)
As for exercises, CC+ has an exercise section, with good suggestions for home workouts:

Good luck!
Hi Lucy,
I know how you feel- I hate the gym. Somthing to check out www.zumba.com Its a kind of latin dance aerobics. It is awesome and fun!!!. You can get a tape for yourself or they have classes you can attend, I checked in the UK and there's at least one in a good portion of the counties. Def. check it out and see if its worth going to a class. I know that for me I need the added motivation of classes, otherwise I wont go.
I also joined a Curves, I know they are expanding I wasnt sure if they were over with you yet, but try that out too- its only 30 min 3 times a week and it can be fun. Oh and its just a womens gym, so no guys to make you uncomfortable or judge you. Its not too bad as far as gyms go.
Anyway, def. check it out!!! And I totally hear you about feeling like your missing out, sometimes I get really down because I just want that Big Mac... but ultimately it all turns out ok.
Good Luck!!! (I still have another 15-18lbs to go)
