Hallowe'en costume
I need a good, kid-friendly one. I would rather be a person than a thing or an animal because I have to work in the costume all day. In the past I have been the paper bag princess (easiest costume ever!) and snow white.
I also don't want to look totally terrible and idiotic all day. (I know, that's the point, but I'm vain....)
Any ideas?
How about Bell from Beauty and the Beast?
Peter Pan? Any sort of superhero with a cape? A ghost? A witch? A pirate? A rockstar?
Just to clarify, by kid-friendly I mean not sexy. And they (middle-schoolers) should 'get it', so no Stevie Nicks or anything 'retro'. I need something original!
Princess Fiona from Shrek? Any of the disney princesses (Belle, Aurora, Cinderella, Ariel?)
Dorothy from the Wizard of Oz? Alice (as in wonderland Alice?)
A Hippy chick? A Nurse? A school girl (not sexy one- just funny with baggy socks, crooked tie, funny pigtails? etc.) A nun?
Bacon. yes it is a thing. But it is easy to do - just paint a pillow case with baconish stripes. It is also a good group costume. One person can be toast. another an egg. bacon is boss.
what about Sponge Bob or Patrick? a Power Puff girl? Hello Kitty?
a couple years ago I saw a kid dressed as a tube of toothpaste - I thought that was pretty clever
I'll keep thinking...
Dress all in white and make a circular finger pad out of cardboard and voila you're an IPOD (middle school kids would totally appreciate that)
Queen Bee,Spelling Bee,nerd,a mad scientist, woman with a bad hair day, facebook page, come as your boss, school mascot,Project Runway Model
Pick a cartoon character--Olive Oyl, Pippy Longstockings, etc. Someone with a simple outfit (Olive Oyl: Black shoes, black skirt, red long sleaved shirt with white colar and black hair in a bun. Add an olive for effect. :)
Or a celebrity--Sarah Palin, Martha Stewart, Lucille Ball, a Dixie Chick (attach dixie cups to your clothes). Pick one that the kids might recognize and whose outfits are easier to replicate. Like with Sarah Palin: a power suit, heels and big hair. :) Then just keep throwing "Eh?" onto the end of sentences and "aboot" instead of "about." Etc.
Quick and Easy:
Self-absorbed: attach sponges to clothes
Wear your pajamas to work with slippers, reading glasses, coffee mug, messy hair and carry a newspaper
Write SWAT on the back of black shirt, but then just carry a fly swatter.
A refrigerater magnet: paint a shoe box black (or something square/rectangular) and attache it to your back. When someone asks what you are, you can pose or wear a shirt with inspirational words or pretend to stick to metal objects.
Mastercard Add: wear normal clothes, have a sign that says: "Jeans $40, shirt $30, etc....A Halloween costume that took minimal effort: Priceless" Or "Having people ask what I am all day...Priceless" or some other funny phrase.
Or go for a time period: 60's, 70's, 80's are always good. Usually easy to find stuff coming back into style or at Goodwill or some kind of vintage shop. And still recognizable for middle school kids.
These ideas are great! I love the ipod and the mastercard ad! Hilarious. I might go for the ipod. Pretty easy!
Zombies rule.
The best part is you can be any kind of zombie you like. I am thinking about being a zombie bride this year...but you can also just be zombie you, just need some fake blood/ wounds and a cool zombie makeup job, it's easy!
Dress as a substitute teacher- normal, teacherish clothes from the front, but have the back covered in spitballs, gum, paper airplane in your hair, kick me sign, etc.
I had a teacher in high school who came as a devil in a blue dress. Just wearing a blue dress with devil horns, it was pretty cute.
