Is Hamburger pattie and cheese with ketchup a good choice?

Quote  |  Reply
I heard that protien is good, so I have been having hamburger patties, that I make from 97% ground beef with a slice of american cheese and less than a table spoon of ketchup. Is that a good choice for dinner or is it to fatty? Just starting this new diet and really wanting it to work. Thanks for any feedback.

Sounds good! Just make sure you stick to extra lean ground beef, and if you use a hamburger bun.. make it wheat. Also try Boca burgers that are veggie but VERY good (they taste like the real thing) and only 90 calories a patty.

That sounds really good.  It's a great source of protein with just a little fat.  You should eat it with some veggies too to fill yourself up more.  How about a salad or something?  But that's definitely not too fatty with 97% lean beef!

Sounds good. I love cheese, but I have found some fat free cheese and I swear it tastes just as good if not better than the full fat ones. I think the Borden brand is the best so far for slices of any yellow cheese (sharp cheddar and American are amazing) and it is only 30 calories per slice.

When I make my hamburgers like that I always add a small salad on the side, and have some grilled onions on the burger too just to try to get more veggies in for the meal.

Protein is good and important, but keep in mind that you really only need about 12 percent of your total calories to be from protein.  A lot of people have been misinformed about how much protein they actually need.

As a protein source your "cheeseburger" sounds delicious and reasonably good for you.

If you log your food into the "food" section here, (under the account tab) you can then click on "analyse" and CC will grade it for you.  Took me a long time to start doing this and now I love it and check; fat, sodium, cholesterol, etc etc.

you can 'tag' or save what you enter, so its available next time.

very easy and helpful.

Yes, I love the fact that it grades it!  I just ate a smoked sausage and low and behold, it was graded a big fat F!  I knew it likely wasn't the best thing to eat, but it looked good so I had one.

I'm new too and want it to work!  So keep it up and hopefully it will work!
