It's probably not feasible, but wouldn't it be great if there was some way that we could pass our "out-grown" wardrobes on to one another? I know that I have no intention of keeping any of my business suits (or casual clothes, for that matter!) once they're too big for me - I just don't want any clothes hanging around that might make me think it's okay to put on a few pounds again! But maybe there's someone else out there who's also working toward a goal, and who could use a decent "interim wardrobe" in that size along the way?
I know that I'm not going to invest much money in clothes during my weight-loss journey, but gee, how great would it be if there was a "hand-me-down wardrobe" in my new, smaller size as an interim reward?
Just a thought,
Split

Hey, I'm all for it! I've got some 18's that are too big for me now!!!! I'm looking for 14's.
And I'm open for men's wear in a 34 inch waist - anyone looking for the same in 38 inch waist?

I took and just bagged today ( mind u, I just moved halfway across Canada) all my plus size clothes. These are being donated to the "Canadian Diabetes Association".
It's a great feeling, now I'm off to the thift store for "proper" fitting clothes, until, my Hubby has to buy New ones...

There are many, many great places to donate used clothing - and I would never throw anything into the garbage or recycle bin that could be donated to a worthy cause. I just thought it might be an opportunity for me to demonstrate my appreciation for the support found on this site by lending a hand to others in the same position.

I think you guys had a wonderful, wonderful idea!! I hope more people get into it with you!! I mean, insted of buying hundreds of dollars of new cloths, why not pay a few tens for the shipping of someone's else?? If you don't like them, then you can donate them!!
Maybe this is possible?
I think this is totaly possible!! :)
I agree with you split, donating is the way to go for me. There's charities out there that will accept donated business clothing for women in need that are starting their careers, (the Women's Alliance, Dress for success), I'm sure there's charities that accept men's clothing for similar purposes... But some sort of trade on CC would probably work out well, esp. with the cold months coming up. Winter coats etc. are freakin expensive!

Firstly I want to state that I donate to charity and smile at the benefits and such like from the work that others do.
What I say here is to play devil's advocaat to some degree and take an opposite view.
Reading through the forums there are people dropping clothes sizes through hard work and determination.
Alot of clothes I would assume can not be held onto for too long once they are too large.
I guess you could find replacing the wardrobe on a bi-monthly exercise or to save the finances holding 2 or 3 outfits as temporary.
In this suggestion the awkward decision of - should I hold on a nother month? Should I only have 2 outfits as they won't last long is negated.
In line with charity and such my suggestion would be (should both parties be in agreement) that clothes are posted, and the receipiant donates what they feel happy and comfortable with to a charity of their choice.
Charity benefits, the recipiant (sp?) benefits without the awkward feeling and the original party knows charity benefitted, someone here has benefitted, and down the line the clothes may head to a charity shop anyhow (or further recipiant).
All the best and support.
