when did this happen?
hello my fellow calorie counters,
some of you may remember me from my start on here 2 years ago. i was almost 300 pounds, dedicated to losing weight and motivated to start a healthier lifestyle. it's been over 2 years, and im about 70lbs lighter...the majority of it coming off within the first year. since the end of my first year, losing weight, staying focused and keeping my hopes high has been extremely difficult. i am an overeater, a lazy girl and an top notch procrastinator. i have recently gained about 18lbs back from the original 80 i had lost...it's time to put this to an end. i come to you, my support system, my family, my backbone...with a cry for help.
any words of wisdom, support or help that you would be willing to offer me would be greatly appreciated. im available on here, on AIM, on myspace or via text message...i just want to stay focused and keep the fire burning long enough to reach my goal...i know it's a lot to ask-but im willing to return the favor!
thank you
-Meghan
Go over your old journals and food dairies, maybe some of the old spark will come back.
The one thing that keeps me motivated not to regain what I have lost? Picking up my grandchildren. They weigh about 30 pounds, which is what I have lost so far. I can not hold them for long, but yet I weighed that much more and carried it around 24/7.
The only thing that I can say is to make a weight that weighs what you have gained back and try to carry it around for a bit each day. I good reminder on why not to gain it back.

Think positive thoughts- I know, its hard to reprogram the brain. It sounds like its time for you to sit down with a blank piece of paper or a blank computer screen and face your self- why exactly did you start losing weight? What got you going? I know why I did- unhappy joints and back and pain- what got you up and doing something about your health? I've lost 30 pounds and am feeling like I can't do more- my grownup daughter has never seen me NOT obese so why bother? I am trying very hard right now to get over that hump and challenge myself to get to a weight that will propel me back to dorm days. Bet you can at least figure out a tiny step to take. You're worth the work and yes, it is work. Good luck.
Congratulation on your weight lose. You made the 1st step now stay focus & set a goal. You can do it!!!!!!!
I am in a similar situation. I've been here for 2 years, lost 20lbs of the 50 I want to be rid of, and have not only stalled, but gained a few back. I've been stuck here for what seems like forever and just been half-heartedly attempting to keep track of calories.
Today I draw a line in the sand. I am logging my food. All fo it. And measuring it. I did a workout video. I did a terrible job at it, but I finished it. I'm jumping back in with both feet. This is an area of my life that deserves a bigger portion of my limited energy.
I turned 27 this year... dangerously close to 30 and I don't want to be battling this in my 30's. I'm setting myself a mini goal. I went to visit a friend yesterday whom I rarely see, but will be going to the state fair with in the 2nd week of september, so I'm setting a goal of 8lbs lost by September 7th. 8lbs will get me out of the 160's FINALLY. These 160's have been a thorn in my side. I will be SO glad to see them go.
I'm just going to have to forget everything and start fresh. I'm not someone who has been stuck... I just haven't been trying and now I will try. I'm someone who weighs 167 today and wants to weigh 159 by September 7th. Food isn't all that. I refuse to let it beat me.
Anyway, if you want to be buddies on here, maybe we can encourage each other and check in... keep each other accountable? Let me know, I'm almost always around.
Hang in there, you are the only thing between you and your goals.
Hi Meghan - I'm quite a bit older than you and have had my share of ups and downs - in life and on the scale! What works for me is trying something new. Shake things up a little! Trying to relive or revive the same experience that worked a year or so ago just never works for me. In fact its down right depressing. Try a new gym or a new class or a new method of dieting. Immerse yourself in something different -for example - be a vegetarian for few months....whatever you choose before you know it you'll be back on track again.
Thats what works for me
you're all really helping me out! :) i thank you all so much for all of your advice and words of wisdom. i am doing well these past few days!! (thank god haha). i think i am really getting my butt back on track! keep it comin if you have the time to!
Maybe It would help to read motivations stories and picture yourself thin/thinner.
Stay focus! You can do this!
Is jump roping as good an exercise as running?
In terms of calorie burning, moderate jumping is about equal to running a 10-minute mile, although calorie burning is always a function of time... Read more
