What happens if you work out and don't eat??
Say I want to lose some weight...so I start reducing my calorie intake to maybe 1200 a day. And I work out a lot and do strength training. Will my muscle mass still increase even if I don't eat enough calories to support that?
I know this girl who practically starved herself for a month but did free weights every day and it seemed to work because she didn't lose any muscle at all!
Not saying I support this behaviour.. I just want to know what happens to your body if someone did this.
she didnt gain muscle, just lost fat, causing her muscles to look larger and/or more defined. if she didnt seem to lose muscle mass, she may have been eating barely enough calories to support her current body weight, and most of it was probably protein.
this is incredibly unhealthy. her body eventually will begin to breakdown. it is ok to do for very very short periods, as this is usually how figure models run a few weeks before contest. i dont suport this and it is unhealthy no matter what.
what alot of people on this site fail to realize is that the 1200 calorie minimum for women is simply what your body needs to maintain life. if you are anymore active that staying in bed all day and night, 1200 calories is not enough and your body will begin to break itself down. ESPECIALLY if you exercise, this girl should at least be eating 1500 calories a day.
if you need advice about how to balance out your nutrition with your activity let me know, because this idea you have will only lead to binging, exhaustion, and malnourishment.
Don't do it. I'm advising from personal experience. Your body may not be able to take it and blacking out can occur.
i like your profile pic and name. such a cute kitty. i once had a kitty just like her and his name was mimi.
driftpsychosis is right. i had a complete black out once coz i reduced my calorie intake to less than 1200 cals a day and increased weight training and exercise. i lost around 20 lbs in a month but then one day i had a blackout and almost fainted. after that i got really scared and got back on normal diet and stopped exercising. got all the 20 lbs back in less than a month plus 20 lbs extra in the next 2 months. i'd suggest you take the calorie requirement test and eat minimum of 1200 calories.
Aren't you / weren't you a model, who sported seriously unhealthy behaviour in terms of starvation........ are you sure its not you you are talking about?
You need to make a bulk of your calories protein! Protein is where the muscle comes from! Make sure your calories are good quality though from lean sources of chicken & turkey breast, fish of ALL TYPES, Eggs & Egg Whites & lean free-ranged red meats.
From your profile photos you look wonderful (if you are 115) and you should stay there! I know modeling is extremely demanding but at 115 you look exactly like what they want!!!
thanks! actually im 135 now..
so no more modeling (obviously haha)
but thanks for all your replies! i was just wondering if you are still able to build muscle while losing fat at the same time basically. guess its possible but with will power!
