I am addicted to all Haribo candies, anything gummi I love.

What can I do to stop? Once I start I cannot stop ... I guess I will have to put the kabatch at the store and simply NOT BUY any! Because I certainly have no self control at home. I will put myself on a no-buy for the New Year.

Any other gummi candy/Haribo junkies out there? Any good substitutes which won't send me into hyperglycemia and calorie overload? I need my candy fix!!!

I love them too, especially the grape flavors.  I was in Cost Plus a few days ago and was really tempted to buy a couple of bags as I usually do, but instead got a couple of bottles of sugar-free torani syrups.  I got the raspberry and hazelnut.  I like to use the raspberry to make a raspberry vinegarette for salad.  I put the hazelnut in my tea for a change of pace drink.
I'm in Germany, home to the Haribo candy, there are so many types here, and they are so cheap!!! (maybe 85 Euro cents for 300g for some types - maybe 1.20 US)

I also have to severly limit myself, and now I just try not to buy them anymore. Although they also have family packets with small packets inside of maybe 15g or something inside. Which leads to alot less temptation, but i don't know if you can get those in the US.

On the other end of the scale they also sell huge kilo tubs of candy for like 4 euros!!! (edit this week for only 3 euro!, according to the new flyer)

(no suggestions really for substitutions - except maybe milka or ritter sport chocolate ;-))
I never wouldn't found Haribo Gummy Bears if it weren't for my boyfriend. He's obssessed with them! Anytime we're at the store or gas station he's buying two bags. And of course I;m eating them too! They're delicious!! My boyfriend is in the Airforce and just moved to Germany where, as it was said before, is the headquarters, i just know I'll be in t rouble anytime I visit him!!I've bought the juicy juice gummies as a little replaement. Not as good, but it helps thw withdrawls!

Wow, I think we should start a Haribo/gummi support group.  I started eating these things like crazy when I was studying for my grad school comp exams, and I ended giving myself four cavities.  It was outta control!  My dentist bill alone is enough to keep me away from Haribo gummis these days, but I also find that fresh fruit is a nice, sweet, less-damaging form of sugar fix.

PS:  If you do indulge, be sure to brush your teeth after every gummi session. They are like sugar bombs!

I can't allow myself to buy them because it is impossible for me to just have a couple.
Looks around nervously.

"My name is....er..er....Rockydog and I too am a Harobo addict (and jelly belly beans as well)"

They sell sugarfree Haribo gummi bears... would that help?

Molly, that is so sweet of you to take the time to look. Unfortunately I think I am going to have to disappoint you all.

If they are german "diet" gummie bears, this normally just means that they have no glucose, not that they are low in calories. At 160 for 41g, I think they are not much better than the normal variety. (sorry for taking away anybody's excitement.)

BTW, I saw 600g christmas mix haribos at the supermarket today. Hmmm...

I had to quit Fizzy Cola cold turkey, because I couldn't limit myself to a couple of pieces. The peach flavored ones are terribly dangerous as well.

When I was living in Greece, where they are available at every corner market, I had a terrible time. I think I ate at least two packs a day. Thank god you have to go out of your way to get them around here. I walk down that aisle in Cost Plus drooling and then force myself to walk away.

No coping strategies, sadly. I always try to remind myself that they only give me a stomach ache and a miserable post sugar rush crash, but it doesn't help much.

yes! im a total ADDICT to haribos.

i love supermix, gummy bears, cola bottles, tangfastics, peaches etcetc

i try and kid myself they are better than sweets such as skittles and starburst becos they have 0 fat in them and have a few less carbs.

but they are deffo better than chocolate arent they?

i get a super bag of mini bags which has 30 inside for £2.99 and the mini bags only have 16g which is 9 mini sweets. they have about 55 cals per bag which is alright reeli. you can afford to have 2 mini bags a day easily.

i just cannot give up on them altogether!

xxxxxxxx

I hear ya. I live on a military base and our post exchanges sell the big bags for only $1, so they are so tempting! They have a decent variety, but I love the mini frogs, brix, and colas the most. I try to stop myself from buying them too often, because once I purchase them I can easily devour an entire bag in no time

I used to live in Germany and miss the varieties that are only sold over there. Gummi bananas, Ostermix, Drajelli, Primavera Erdbeeren, Jogi-Bussi (!!), Chamallow, Biba Softbars, ... Mmm ... I love my haribo!

I have been a Haribo Gold-Bears addict for over a decade. Back when I first got hooked they were hard to find but now they're everywhere. They're at Walmart and Target and the local grocery chain. Then we have the bulk candy store in the mall where you can buy the big alphabet gummies... so I go there and get just the red and green since they're my favorite! A good replacement, I think, are Jolly Ranchers. They take a long time to suck on and only like 70 calories for 3 pieces. I love me some fruity candy!

Aah, you guys make me wanna cry! I live for candy and yet I haven't had any since like 1997 due to the fact that I would balloon to a size XXXL if I were to look in the general direction of anything even remotely related to what could vaguely be construed as paying resemblance to candy. Nothing's fair!

twin cherries, rattlesnakes, and pasta basta oh my!

I am addicted to Trolli sour worms and octopi -- so much so, that I bought a 1.5 lb container -- because it was the smallest the store had and I needed to have them.  I did waste most of them, but the drive from the store to home was a harried one.  I threw the rest in the trash as soon as I got home -- because I would have eaten them all....  It's only the sour gummi stuff, however -- regular doesn't phase me in the slightest.

JELLY BELLY SUGARFREE GUMMI BEARS

=^..^= MOLLY

Anything sugar free from Jelly Belly has sorbitol and malitol as sweetners -- if you are not used to them, they will give you the most painful gas and diarrhea you have experienced.

I forgot once and ate almost a whole bag of the sour jelly beans -- halfway through practice I realized what I had done and the cramping started about then -- barely made it home...

Aha, this is an old post of mine but I regret to say I am still a Haribo junkie. The thing that has saved me is that I moved out of NYC so no longer have easy access to the Haribos on every corner and in every Tasti-d-lite as I walked from work to home. Even so, I love them all and crave them every day. It's a real problem.
