why i hate college

ok i dont actually hate college....but i DO hate the fact that we are expected to be good at technology!

i can not make presentations on the computer to save the life of me, but tonight i figured out how. and it took me 4 hours to do so. well thats all good and fun, but here comes the hard part. of course i have no idea how to upload it to the internet.

at the moment i am attempting to upload it to youtube and it will probably take an hour to do! oh, and the deadline was 40 minutes ago. HA. hope my teacher accepts it.

who else sucks at college...like me...

Computers? My college papers were done on typewriters like everyone else's.  Removing a paragraph meant retyping every page after it so the text lined up per page.  

I can relate - it took me hours to learn how to use my computer's software to make videos but afterwards discovered youtube was user friendly for uploading so you should be pleasantly surprised. 

College, though, kicked my butt.  Grade wise I did well but it was a beating.  Much worse now, my memory was even then was bad. Unlike my friends who read text for exams, I had to write out notes over and over to force my brain to retain the material.  Index cards helped too but it was an uphill challenge and finals = hell. 

Well, I think it's expected in this day and age that college students now how to make a simple presentation on powerpoint. It's really simple. And there are tutorials when you open Powerpoint that you can use.

Does your college have an IT/Computer lab or department?  Check with them to see what sorts of (possibly free) tutorials they offer.

Part of college is figuring out how to do things on your own without being shown, step by step, in class.

Enroll in a power point class at the local community college???  They are usually short term classes and are offered online as well.

on every college campus there is a tutor center/computer center/library where people can help you with this stuff. it is their job to be on call during business hours. next time you have a problem like this go to the library and ask if they can help..if they can't, ask where you CAN get help. If they do not know, ask your teacher where you can get free student tech assistance.

kind of requires a little planning ahead but you should at least find out this information -- where to go -- for next time.

Not to be patronizing, but this kind of stuff pops up a lot in the real, working world too. Learn how to deal with adapting effectively now when it won't be that bad for you.

In highschool they taught us how to use all these things to prepare us for the 'real world'.  And if I forget something, and I usually do, a little google on the subject usually points me in the right direction. Also, try asking a teacher/professor at your college for help on how to do it...they have people around for these things. :) Good luck.

haha well it would be awesome if i had spare time to take a computer class, but unfortunately i dont.

i could be a lot worse at computers, i was just frustrated last night at the fact that i had to spend SO much time on somethingthat others probably already knew how to do.

and i know how to make powerpoints, my teacher told us not to. we had to use imovie and import mp3s and videos. it wasnt THAT bad, just a little confusing!

hey I agree with the whole technology thing, I have a powerpoint presentation to do for my class and I have no idea how to do it, I'd love to just u know write it out and tell it to the class but no i need to make a fancy power point so ya ur not the only one with the powerpoint prob lol

Using something as basic as powerpoint is something you should've learned in high school. Powerpoint is very easy to use...

There should be some courses that you can take, right? Or maybe get a "for dummies" book. Ooh, how about that Video Professor guy? I had to learn the hard way too. Trial and error.

My main isue with technology is that I had to download a bunch of new software so I get my homework from the website one of my teachers uses. It really screwed up my computer.

And I believe your original post said you didn't know how anyway. Whatever. It's college. Quit complaining. It's not a time where your teachers hold your hand.

I'm not being hostile. Don't expect everyone to feel sorry for you about some powerpoint presentation.
