I hate plateaus!

Quote  |  Reply

I hate that once i hit my plateau its so much easier to gain then it is to lose! Thats what I am dealing with right now and it sucks! aghhhh Today for whatever reason I am feeling particularly large.

maybe its cause my legs felt super heavy on my run this morning or that i feel like my love handles are bluging over my pants...how much of this is in my head and how much is reality? I never can tell ..i always think im too critical of myself.

im at a healthy weight but want to drop 5-10 and i belive i can afford to do so but its just so hard at this point and when i have days like this (when i feel PUFFY) i lose motivation  a bit ...its sooo harddd sometimes!

well, when I felt this way (ever since last week) the scale and the measurements agreed with my assessment. (grrr).

and now I'm ramping up for TTOTM.

Is it possible you're retaining water in prep for TTOTM?

I've lost momentum but not motivation. I just keep re-planning, re-planning, plan plan plan beat it into my head have papers everywhere to remind me planning.

Hi, im new to this site but do many people use High Intesity Interval Training or H.I.I.T? Because me and many of my friends never experence a plateau during a cutting phase because of H.I.I.T. And was just wondering if there are people who use it and still experence a plateau.  I would suggest it for breaking a plateau.

I've been doing HIIT for 3-4 weeks now.

I have been at a plateau for 2-3 weeks now.

good tip. i will try that -- ive always thought about doing more H.I.I.T -- i do it every once and awhile (but i guess since its hard I shy away from it -- not a good reason, i know)

in regards to crazydiamond's post -- the thing is with me, sometimes how i feel acutally doesnt match the numbers, its bizaar somedays when i feel puffy i weigh myself and nothings changed

also, yesterday's workout was pretty intense, is it possible that I am swollen from that? does that happen? ive heard sometimes the day after a hardcore workout you swell up and then the next day lean down? is this true?

yes - your muscles retain fluid after a hard workout especially at the beginning.

Try calorie cycling to break your plateau: find the healthy intake for you to eat to lose weight then use it as an average and vary your cals each day, up or down. I had plateaued for 2 months, and have lost 10lbs in the last month from doing this. Good luck!

Can you give me and example of how to do this?

Keep your normal workout schedule, but increase your cals to maintenience.  Do this for a couple weeks. You'll either maintain or lose.  After 2-3 weeks slowly lower your cals (300-700 deficit) and then the next 2 weeks lower it to what you are currently doing.

Worked for me and had more energy to burn more calories.

Fill out this and it will give you a plan to follow:

mperic81's advice follows the same principle: Fluctuating your calorie intake can reset your metabolism.

Thanks I am going to try that and I did some HIIT training at the gym today and played raquet ball (change in workout routine :) ..hope this helps me
