This is a hard question! I'd also like to know what other people say. I always try to drink atleast 6 cups of water a day (they say 8, but that includes the fluid in the food you eat), and sometimes I find myself forcing it down, haha.

How about herbal teas? Some herbal teas taste great cold, you could make a big jug in the morning and refrigerate it so it's ready for whenever you want it. My favorite is pomegranate and raspberry tea when it's ice cold, really refreshing.

Im with you - hate the taste of water, always have!

According to the organizations below, aspartame is safe for pregnant women and their developing babies.  Its a personal choice to be determined with your doctor, but studies have not shown danger to pregnant moms or their developing babies.

Council on Scientific Affairs of the American Medical Association
American Academy of Pediatrics Committee on Nutrition
American Dietetic Association.

Here is a summary I found online:
According to human studies, aspartame is safe for pregnant women and does not pose any risk to the unborn baby. Even when administered in extremely high doses, up to 6 times the 99th percentile of the projected daily intake (200 mg/kg), no evidence of risk to the fetus was observed. Aspartame is broken down into three components: aspartic acid, methanol, and phenylalanine, all of which occur widely in common foods we eat everyday. Aspartic acid, or aspartate, does not readily cross the placenta. "Abuse" doses of aspartame did not lead to measurable elevations of any metabolic compounds of concern. This is true both for normal individuals and for those women who are heterozygous (carriers) for the PKU trait.

Have you tried different kinds of bottled water?  I know I only like the taste of Nestle Pure Life and have you tried it really cold.  Then there is no taste at all.

Try trowing in frozen berries.  Water with frozen strawberries is delicious. Just fish out the berries if you don't want the extra carbs.

How about No Sodium slezter water?  There are alot of good flavors.

While I can't say I relate to hating the taste of water, I want to suggest cucumber slices. It gives the water a really fresh taste and even my husband who HATES cucumbers loves it. Give it a try.

I enjoy the taste of propel and they come in singles you can add to bottled water.  The mixed berry is especially tasty in my opinion but the other suggestions of cucumber slices and berries are good too!

wow, i drink like a fish, i love the taste of water!! i would just keep a bottle of water with you all day and get in the habbit of taking frequent sips throughout the day and also only drink water with your meal, eventually you will develope a taste for water. it will be a good habbit to get into!

Water tastes like nothing.  If your water has a taste then there's already something in it, sodium, fluoride, minerals, etc. that you don't like the taste of.  If it's tap water your drinking try filtering it or switching to bottled.  If you're drinking bottled water try switching brands.

It's also possible that you're so used to drinking things with flavors and sweetness that you can't stomach drinking water because it has no taste.  Water is the only beverage your body needs.

I have found Crystal Light packets that you put into bottled water. They are only five calories and they hve different flavors my favorite is Crystal Light On The Go Energy and it's wild strawberry flavor. Another I have but don't really care for is Crystal Light Metabolism and it has peach mango with green tea flavor. Hope this helps.

I drink warm water, but that's just me. People think I'm strange but I don't like cold water! It's gotta be almost hot chocolate hot before I'll drink it. And I drink it like a fish.

I hear people put mint in their water. Never tried it, but I bet it's tasty. Squeeze an orange in there, or I like the berry idea too. Sounds refreshing.

NOTE: I found a really easy way to get in more water is by using a 'sports cap' water bottle. Just goes down faster.

I use unsweetened cranberry juice .. ;-)

I 2nd the cucumber slices.  The spas always have cucumber water in their waiting rooms - at least the ones I've seen in Sedona.

thanks everyone! i'll try some of these ideas!!

I FINALLY enjoy a large glass of water now, with or without ice, after squirting in about 7 drops of VANILLA flavored liquid Stevia (all natural, from a plant leaf).  I actually get REFILLS now at restaurants (keep it in my purse) and in the past had maybe two or three sips.  GREAT stuff.

Heh, I usually hold my breath when drinking water, I suppose I could try smelling vanilla extract while drinking water.

Off to experiment!

I've been putting a few drops of peppermint extract in mine lately.  Got tired of lemon.  I also use crystal lite, but am trying to get away from the aspartame to see if that helps any with the weight loss, so have been experimenting with a few things lately, too.  I drank crystal lite constantly  while preggers, though, and neither I nor the baby had any problems.  A lot of docs will tell you to avoid caffeine while pregnant, but I still had about 1 diet soda/day.  Unless you are a high-risk pregnancy, I seriously doubt it makes any difference.  I was forcing myself to drink extra water while pregnant - mainly to ward off UTI's.  And, crystal lite was the only way I could get it down.

I always avoid artificial sweeteners when pregnant, so no Crystal Light for me either Cry.  I know juice isn't considered healthy, but it only takes a little apple or cranberry juice to give the water a bit of flavor.  Then I can easily down a large glass.
