I'm just getting over a bad stomach virus and I haven't had much besides Gatorade and a few saltine crackers. I know my body has to be in starvation mode by now, and I down want to throw it for a loop. I'm still feeling a little queasy, so now I'm wondering what I should eat to get back on track. Just a little juice? Or jump right back in to 1200 cal?

NO, when you are sick your body regulates itself, don't panic about
starvation mode and then make yourself sicker by trying to do too much
too soon.
A "miracle" natural cure for a queasy stomach is fruit cocktail in heavy syrup. There is something in it that stops nausea and it also boosts your blood sugar a bit to make you feel stronger sooner. It HAS to be heavy not light syrup to work on the tummy!
Sip a bit of the syrup until the stomach settles, then later on eat a bit of the fruit if you feel up to it. After that go to a banana or dry toast, then if that sits ok, you can work your way up...

I just got over strep throat, and I mostly ate chicken broth, toast, applesauce, crackers, soup, and diet sprite - slowly brought my calories back up until I was feeling better

If you're ever have stomach or intestinal problems go on the BRAT diet. It helps give you some of the nutrients you need, but most importantly, its easy to digest. This goes for kids as well as adults.
BRAT DIET - A bland diet consisting of ripe Bananas, Rice, Applesauce, and Toast.

kanddr- that was SO my first thought. It's all about BRAT.
Sprite or 7up for some reason helps with nausea, too, and the cal content shouldn't be a worry right now, drink the real thing and give your bod some fuel.

Oh no! Yea when i had the flu i lost 3 pounds and got down to 112, which i still am! yay! The flu is one unplanned way to lose weight! For me when i have the flu no food looks good at all and i had it for 4 days and didnt eat at all but like 5 crackers and some gingerale. .it sucked.
Being sick is no fun! ((((hugs)))) to make you feel better!
I agree with all the ideas already posted. When I'm recovering from being sick I still follow a diet given to me by my old doctor, Dr Lewis, way back in the 1960s.
Wait one hour between foods and have only small amounts at a time. First stage - clear liquids, - ginger ale, tea, jello, applejuice, chicken broth. At first take small sips and wait several minutes.
Second stage continue the clear liquids and add - soft foods - toast, rice, cooked cereal, banana, applesauce etc.
Third stage - continue clear liquids and soft foods and add dairy products - pudding, warm milk, yogurt, etc.
Fourth stage - add a soft boiled egg on toast.
By then you should be feeling a lot better. This process can take a couple of days depending on how sick you are feeling. He also reccomended sprinkling dairy products with a little fresh grated nutmeg because it calms the digestive tract. He said that applesauce and applejuice contain natural pectin which helps with diarhea. Sugar and small amounts of salt both help keep you hydrated.

I like oatmeal when I've been sick. there's something very soothing about a warm, soft breakfast. lol
glad you're feeling better.
glad you're feeling better.
I always eat sugarless apple sauce when I'm sick. It seems to help :)
yeah, I agree with iskate1191. Sickness is like one of those unexpected ways to lose weight. Last year, I had a bad case of food poisoning, and I lost 7 pounds in 2 days, and was able to keep it off.
