Ok im 20 years old, 5"4 and weigh 110 pounds. Ive been a vegan since April and do cardio 3-5 days a week, although this past month I havent worked out. I eat 1400 cals a day and 15g of fat a day. I do not eat processed food..its all whole grains and vegetables. I lost about 30 pounds over summer. Also my ribs and spinal cord show a lot in my back, even when im wearing a sweatshirt, I cant even lean back on some of the seats in school cause it hurts. So does anyone have an idea as to why im not getting my period, and is the ribs and spinal cord with my back bad? Thanks for any help

A loss of period is caused by not having enough body fat to support your reproductive system, but sometimes loosing a lot of weight quickly puts your body into shock... this is a common occurance amoung anorexics. You could probably benefit from eating a couple hundred calories more a day because 1400 is still on the low side for someone your height to maintain the weight you are right now.
Also if the bonyness bothers you that much, you could always gain a couple pounds... as for your bad back, it may be a result of too much stress. We tend to carry our emotions in that area, which is why overly stressed people tend to be very stiff and have knots in their backs a lot.
On days that you work out you should also eat more, about the amount that you work off.. so if your aiming for 1400cal, and you work off 200cal, then eat 1600cal for that day. This may help even get your period back because you wont be putting yourself into "starvation mode" ie less then 1200cal a day.

1400 cal for an active person is too lttle.
Your ribs are showing as you are too skinny.
Are you also cold/slightly hairy
I accidentally ate too little when i was sick and this happened to me. Not hairy like a man, just seemed to be more downy stuff

Having a period is like the body preparing to have a baby every month. But if your body is not nourished enough to carry a baby, then you won't have a period. Get where I'm going?
If your bones are showing, you're not eating enough. I suggest adding to your daily intake by 50-100 calories a week until you start to gain some weight.
I know what you mean about the back thing. Because I don't have much cushion on my rear, sitting back is more comfortable. But I have even less cushion on my spinal cord, so I often have bruises along my spine. I'm eating more to fix this, though.
Trust me, you want to fix this now before it develops into a worse problem. The quicker you get some meat on your bones, the less damage you do to your body. Good luck.

From what you've said, it sounds kind of like you might want to gain a little bit of weight? It's very possible that you have a very low body fat percentage which would cause you to stop having your period. I agree that you should eat a little bit more!
This is sort of an aside to your question, but you may have something else to consider in addition to your calories. Make sure that you're paying careful attention to your nutrition and mineral intake as well as your caloric intake. Vegans eat a very specialized diet, and it's relatively easy to be deficient in essential nutrients and vitamins (specifically B12). Nutrient deficiency can cause all sorts of problems - both short and long term. Good luck, and take care of yourself.
