Hazelnut Butter

Quote  |  Reply
I just bought some hazelnut butter from my health food store and WOW is it ever good! I LOVE IT! I even think it is better than peanut butter! Maybe that's because it reminds me of praline filling in chocolate... It's like a treat to have it - except that it is healthy too! (In small portions of course - something I should probably work on.)

Anyone else have any peculiar nut (or other flavour) butters they love?

I've been actually really curious about other nut butters, but I don't know if I can find other nut butters in Walmart, the cost, and what the nutrition for the other nut butters are. ;-; (Curiousity kills me, does hazelnut butter have less calories per serving then peanut butter~?)

Rumor has it almond butter is freakin' awesome, though.

How much did it cost you? I've found that most nut butters except PB are quite expensive... I'd like to try different varieties, if only they could cost less. ):

I've been eyeing up some cashew butter..mmmm sounds amazing!

I've had almond butter, cashew butter, macadamia butter, brazil nut butter, the works.

IMO, almond butter is inarguably the best of all the nut butters.

Ahh! ): I want to try all this stuff so bad! I live in college and even though I can definitely go to the store, all those butters are so expensive... but maybe I should just say screw it and get them anyway, lol.

i just bought maranatha crucnhy almond butter this past Wed, im almost halfway done w the jar-it is beyond amazing and i put it in and on everything i eat! lol

I've never seen hazelnut butter, omg i want to try it! I've tried a ton of them, pb, almond, cashew, soynut, and sunflower seed butter are all really good. I think almond and cashew might be my favorites, sunbutter (sunflower seed) has a stronger taste at first, but it's really really good!

I've been seriously considering expanding my diet in this area!!  I only really eat PB and I've had 1 jar of almond butter before..but I keep getting an urge to get a little stock of different nut and seed butters going =P

I have PB and still want: almond butter, walnut butter, pecan butter, cashew butter, hazelnut butter, hemp butter, macadamia butter, brazil nut butter, sunflower butter, coconut butter, pumpkin seed butter...yeah pretty much all butters...can you say EXPENSIVE?! haha

And as far as I know, the calories in all of them are quite similar (I've been looking into them for a while)

I'm a big fan of all nut butters. I hadn't tried anything but peanut butter, ever, until recently. Since then I've tried Macadamia, cashew, pumpkin seed and almond. They are all excellent!

The pumpkin seed butter is probably the most obscure but it's really good (if you like roasted pumpkin seeds). It doesn't have a ton of sodium in it, but it still has a salty zing. And it's GREEN!

My favorite is no salt added, crunchy Almond Butter. It is superlative!

I love natural nut  butters. They're a huge staple in my diet. My favourites are definitely peanut and almond, but I tried cashew for the first time recently and thought it was amazing. Naturally sweet!
Not to take over your thread but uhh..what brands do you guys buy? =)

I love almond butter, unfortunately, there's only one brand here. Melrose, it's either British or Australian.

Hey, they sound yummy! Do any of you guys buy these in Britain?

it's weird; i have no sense of self-control when it comes to peanut butter, but i have all the control in the world when it comes to pumpkin seed butter.

pumpkin seed butter is amazing, and probably the healthiest in my opinion. only 160 calories for 30g and it has 10g of protein. :)

Hey, sorry for the late replies - I've been very busy!

kaybug - Hazelnut butter is still like most other nut butters. It has 190 calories for 2 tablespoons. But it is oh so good!!

stronger_ - Yes, it was unfortunately quite expensive! It was about $7 (Canadian) for a 250 g jar (which is tiny). But for me, it's worth it. I am in complete love with hazelnut butter. I don't even buy PB anymore!

Everyone listed someone really neat sounding butters. I may try these next and see if they surpass the deliciousness of my precious hazelnut butter... I think I'm obsessed! :)

I absolutely love almond butter.  I find most of my different nut butters at Meijer.  They are a little pricey, but way cheaper than Health Food Stores.

I make my own nut butter in the food processor.  It comes out a little smoother than the grinder machine at the natural foods store.  My favorite is a blend of cashews, hazelnuts, almonds, and brazil nuts.

thats so cool!  MEDVEDITSA-so you add anything else other than nuts?

nope, just nuts

So this post inspired me to run to the natural food store yesterday! haha

I picked up more PB and a jar of almond butter.  I got home and opened the almond butter and there was no seal...you know, the little safety/freshness seal under the lid?  I'm gonna run back to the store (maybe pick up some macadamia nut butter and cashew because I ran out of money yesterday haha) and see if this brand just doesn't have those seals.  I'd be a little nervous if they just don't put seals on them...isn't it like, required?
