Headaches and Weight Loss
I get really bad headaches all the time and I was just wondering if anyone had heard anything about weight loss causing headaches. I may have been eating too few calories but I'm trying to up them now so I thought that might have been causing my headaches. Any help? (Or any home remedies that work better than constantly having to take naproxen?)
I get headaches when I am hungry-- my stomach never growls, I just get a HORRIBLE headache.
BUT-- I also get headaches when I am the slightest bit dehydrated, so maybe drinking more water would help? Also, I find exercise helps alleviate the pain.
Hope this helps.
I've tried drinking water and it really didn't affect it much. I do try to drink as much water as possible. I don't think I've ever noticed it but I think exercising has helped but it's not always possible to exercise, especially during school.
When my doctor told me to lose weight they warned me from the get go that headaches normally happen when you first start dieting or when you plane on your diet ( when you hit a spot where you wont lose any weight for a few weeks and you get frustrated) everyones body reacts differently some peoples tummy will growl others get headaches to where you feel like your head will bust. I am prone to migranes so I was given the warning so I would know what to expect. I hope this helps
I get pretty big headaches if i don't have enough of sugar, water. So in the morning before or after breakfast i usually have 1 teaspoon of honey for my sugars and drink plenty of water through out the day
I was getting between 1200 and 1300 but I'm trying to up that to about 1500.
I get headaches and migraines and think they are from:
- not eating
- being dehydrated
- not getting enough sleep
- sitting infront of the computer too much
- and on the weekends - not having my usually dosages of caffeine that I have grown accustomed to since working
How do I prevent them? Always make sure I have a snack available, regardless of where I am. Out shopping - granola bar in purse. On the train ride home - granola bar/cheese string in bag. At the movies - granola bar/100 calorie pack in purse. Out at a bar - granola bar. Driving long distances - peanuts, apple, trail mix.
AND I always have a bottle of water with me. Also, keep medicine handy. For me, Excedrine does the job - but only if I take it right at the first sign of a headache/migraine. Otherwise... I need to sleep it off as best as I can. I also try not to instigate them by avoiding bright lights and loud noises.
It just seems SO counterproductive to me as I'm always hearing "drink more water!" because it supposedly helps headaches.
Anyone know why this is happening to me? Anyone else experience the same thing?
I get headaches also, I was wondering what was causing it. I thought it was because I was hungry. I realize I cut down to about 1,500 calories but I don't always eat that amount , I have been sometimes in the 2,000 or so calories. I did buy low cal snacks like granola bars , 100 calorie crackers and pretzels and low calorie cracker and flavored water.
Will have to see it that helps. Nice to get any other ideas.
