Okay, so my boyfriend and I just bought a house and we're taking his bed. its a oversized Queen bed (almost the size of a King) and its wonderful, HOWEVER we cant seem to find a headboard and footboard that we like that isnt huge and takes up all the space in the bedroom, so we decided to create one. I've tried googling for ideas for "faux" headboards among other things... we also watch alot of HGTV and again, nothing. Can anyone help??
Thanks!
Thanks!

Depends what you like, and what the bed is like itself. I mean you don't really want metal boards with a wooden base!!
Google for fabric headboard diy and you'll get a step-by-step guide to making your own no-sew headboard with some fabric, plywood and a staple gun. Depending on the material you choose, it can look modern or classic.
I've seen pictures where people have used fencing material (picket or iron) for headboards, too.

It's not that hard. You need to get quilt batting and some nice fabric, then staple that to plywood. You can do a quilted effect using upholstery tacks hammered right through the fabric and batting.
Or, you can do what I did - I got a wicker headboard (no footboard). it looks great and was cheap.

great ideas guys!! I'll have to figure something out, because I'm not so crafty.. LoL Thanks though!!
Here's one that I am considering for my newly decorated bedroom....
A friend of mine piles 6 to 8 pillows up against the wall. It really looks great!
Here's a blog dedicated to headboard ideas with pictures that should help.
They have videos and lots of DIY ideas. Hope that helps.
I saw an episode of Trading Spaces once where they took an old door and sort of antiqued it and mounted it to the wall in place of the headboard and I thought it looked really great. I couldn't find a link to that episode (don't remember where they were).
But they do have a project file for a padded headboard, which is different but also looks nice - depending on your style.
:)
whatever you do..Just make sure you pick something that can easily be scrubbed clean.
(scotchguard it or something)
Another easy idea is to just hang a canopy from the ceiling.

All you need is some lightweight fabric.
Puts some roll pillows at the top of the bed to cover that little space between the wall and the matress.
