Healing from Candida/Sorting out GI disaster [advice and support?]
I posted a lot earlier this year as I was counting calories and trying some eliminations to solve a lot of health issues and GI problems that have put my life and athletic dreams in chains for so long. I don’t want to dedicate this post to the story of this year because so much has happened, but in sum I have made some improvements in overall health, weight, and athletics…but definitely have done so through coping and management and have not solved the root problem. Yet another relapse of major GI issues and the ripple effects have recently left me feeling hopeless, desperate, and so, so determined to figure this out and do what I can once and for all.
The reason I am posting here is because I recently found out that a lot of my problems, including possible food intolerances, IBS like symptoms, and so on, could all be coming from a yeast infection [Candida] that has infected me and continued to grow. This would explain a LOT of the confusion as to why simple food eliminations haven’t completely solved things and why I get mixed messages when doing those sorts of eating tests.
This week I have started following a strict anti-Candida plan, hoping to work from here as a base to figure out what my problem is and how I can heal and cope from here. The one thing I know is that if Candida is the monster, I have to starve it out and repopulate my flora.
I was amazed at the remarkable turnaround I saw on day 1 of no grains—from the calming down of a massive flareup to my ability to digest massive amounts of vegetables [something I thought was a problem food!].
But since then my digestion has been heading down hill again. I’m not sure if this is because I’m doing something wrong or just haven’t given it enough time.
I want to make sure I’m doing this right, and am seeking support and advice from anyone who has knowledge in this area.
I am just SO TIRED OF the MESS and CONFUSION—I’ll do what it takes, I just want to know what…
Hi. I am sorry about your struggles. Were you dx by a doctor? Can you call and see if you can be set up with a nutritionist who deals with gi disorders. I think when something is this severe you really need a plan. Some things you may not even know could be causing this.
I have no insurance or $$ to get medical help, that's why I am trying to figure out as much as i can on my own-including seeing what experience and knowledge someone on here may have?
Anyone with any experience dealing with Candida or elimination testing to sort out GI issues?
