Health Benefits Associated with Coffee Consumption...

Quote  |  Reply

Not sure why some people continue to perpetuate the false notion that coffee drinking is somehow "bad" for you or that caffeine should be cut out of a "healthy" diet.  I feel the need to clear this up...

Science has long shown just the opposite. Please click on the link below to read the fairly thorough review of literature posted on WebMD.com.

Note: This review article is not one "health expert's" opinion or a ploy to sell more coffee published by the "coffee growers association", it is a review of several significant large cohort studies that have been performed over a period of several years.

Ah, but I never stated that the addictive factors are equal.  As a matter of fact the adenosine that I spoke of really has nothing to do with "addiction".  It is, as you stated the "stimulant".

I'm quickly ceasing to care about this, but for the record, saying cocaine and caffeine are equally addictive is exactly what you did.

Your quote:

"I'm not calling out caffeine as a dangerous (illegal) drug, I'm just saying that it can be/is just as addictive"

So, yeah. it's not.

Ya...I should have left it at "can be"...but like I said, I make coffee every day at work. I don't really care about it's addictive properties (if there really are any). I'm going to continue to enjoy it, regardless!

Cool

How 'bout food?  I used to never eat breakfast in the morning, now I know I have a lot more energy if I have something to eat as soon as I wake up.  If you're used to having a cup of coffee when you get up, you're used to having a cup of coffee when you get up.  We're all creatures of habit, and our bodies adjust accordingly.  Nothin' wrong with that.

lol @ comparing food with a caffiene addiction.

of course you get headaches when you don't get your coffee, so do cocaine users.

Other people have given perfectly adequate replies to this, but I just have to point out, my post was in response to this:

"no offense, but you honestly shouldn't "need" anything to start your day"

ANYTHING.  Gotta be careful with those all inclusive words there.  I love a good cup of coffee, but I can survive my morning without it (so can anyone).  But I can suvive without food first thing in the morning, too (so can anyone).  Sneering at someone for needing a cup of coffee first thing in the morning is like sneering at somebody for wanting a nice breakfast.  Sneering's not good.   Nope.

Okay as someone that drinks coffee and also has been a cocaine user(not proud) and it was many years ago. I can vouch that cocaine and coffee are not even close, they dont have any effect reflecting eachother. 1. Cocaine is addictive while you are "on" the drug once you come down and your high is gone you are no longer "addicted" to it, the reason people continue to do it is because the comedown is so bad they want to stay feeling "good"! Once it wears off you are back to normal again. And your cravings go away.

When I am "on" coffee, I am not needing to stay high off of it all day hahaha!

It is funny because I bought a coffee maker on black friday because I am one of those people that go and get big gulps at 8am to start off my day or else I am dragging! So I did some research and decided that coffee is a much better alternative then diet coke! That being said, I can survive my morning without coffee or soda, I don't get headaches or anything. It just perks me up and my whole day I can be awake and ready to work. 10oz. in the morning and I can last 15 hours easy! With my soda it would ony last me about 4 hours and then I would need another one!

The one thing that can be bad about coffee is if you forget to drink water and replace drinking water all day with sipping coffee.

I'm from the Pacific NorthWest and people take their coffe REAL serious here.    I have always been a cheap coffee drinker.    The cheaper and nastier the better.

Different strokes for different folks.    I personally don't care if you are addicted to tea, sunshine or a morning quickie.    Coffee is my fix and its good to finally hear that I have a habit that isn't killing me slowly.
