before you became health-conscious..
before you started calorie-counting or knew anything about health, what was your typical afterschool snack(s)?
mine was like pizza, bowls of cereal, fruit and chocolate bars from the vending machine at school. what about you?
As many cookies as I could stuff my not-nearly-as-fat-as-it-should-have-been face with. Oreos and Chips Ahoy! were my favourite; I could eat an entire sleeve and not look back.
It amazes me to this day that my weight maxed at 150 lbs. Honestly, it surprised everyone that I didn't weigh twice that.
When I was little (like 8-10 yrs old) I used to eat bread with chocolate-peanutbutter on. I had no problem eating pancake, muffins or slices of cake either if we happened to have them.
A bit older I could drink up to 3 cups of cocoa, many pieces of pancake, rolls, a flapjack, 500g of yoghurt... But not all at once of course.
I would eat combos from the vending machine for lunch at noon, then stop in the student union and pick up an candy bar to eat while waiting for the bus at 2. Then when I got home I'd eat a few pieces of Velveeta while waiting for dinnertime, at which point I'd eat hot dogs, fries with barbecue sauce, and some type of vegetable smothered in processed cheese sauce, or butter and salt. Just thinking about that now makes me kinda squeamish!
Huge Pb and J's with extra peanuts sprinkled on it on very large peaces of bread.
i also used to walk (at least i walked..) to tim hortons almost every day and buy an extra-large french vanilla cappuccino after school :|
I also did the stack of Chips Ahoy or Oreo cookies. I would keep going back for more and more until I ran out of milk... but then I'd top it off with some more...
It amazes me that I was an athlete in high school with the diet I had... if only I ate better I could have done a hell of a lot better!
(not to mention the grande extra extra caramel frappuccinos I used to drink every day!) :|
When I was in HS, I would eat a chocolate chip cookie and chocolate milk at break and french fries and chocolate milk at lunch, EVERY DAY! The lunch lady didnt have to ask what my friend and I wanted because we got the same thing every single day.
A typical snack would have been a fried egg. Sometimes I would eat eggs and toast twice a day. I still love eggs, but I limit myself to only have it twice a week. I still eat egg beaters though!
quesadillas, chips, and massive quantities of MILK. also hot pockets. i drank SO much milk before i was health-concious.
edited to add: also, bagels with peanut butter! and yogurt. and CHEESE. i had a tad bit of a dairy addiction....
Make your typical PB&J with TONS of PB, and then on top of the top slice, spread more jelly. Take ANOTHER piece of bread and spread a lot more peanut butter on it, and then put it on the jelly that you spread on top of the other sandwich.. IT'S SO GOOD! Even better, toast the slice of bread that is going to end up in the middle..it adds a little crunch =P
Generally after that I would have a frozen pizza or chips and salsa with cream cheese (seriously I took a block of cream cheese, poured salsa over it, and then ate the whole thing as a dip with chips =P)
Or I would get a glass of milk, a box of Nilla Wafers, and have at it! I loved stacking the wafers in the milk and setting a spoon on top to hold them under and drown them! Then you scoop em out and they're all mushy and yummy
I miss those times but would rather look and feel like I do when I eat better! haha
a twix and a mr. pibb if I had rehearsal and was stuck at school, chips and sour cream mixed with salsa or a grilled cheese if I came straight home. we didn't have junk food in the house.
ALOT OF GRAPES, mini pizza's,apples, hershey almond chocolate bar, almond joy, pb&j sandwich, grilled cheese sandwich, chocolate chip cookies with milk, and...i think that's it. =/
but my usual snack would be chocolate chip cookies with milk to dip them in. :P
Pies, cookies, cakes, chips, HUGE sammiches, other people's candy.. Whatever looked good, really.
I'd eat entire $2 candy bags from 7-11.. KFC french fries and gravy were my FAVOURITE. I could eat an entire package of cookies with milk in a sitting. I'd have bowls and bowl of cereal with milk. Lots of pizza... nachos and cheese... fried crap. My diet was AWFUL! I'd drink sugary drinks all the time, and when I got a craving I could finish a 4L jug of milk in a day. I could also easily finish off a large bag of chips in a day as well. I'd eat lots of pasta, and I'd frequently ask to go to fast food chains.
I'd also spend ALL of my time on the computer. I would not move at ALL.
Now get this... At 5'5" the most I've ever weighed was 115 lbs. Crazy!
I liked Ham and cheese hot pockets. I also used to love to heat up chips ahoy in the microwave. Pints of Ben and Jerrys sometimes two a day if I had a really bad Binge. Another favorite was 3 slices of toast with butter 2 fried eggs with the yolk uncooked with 3 slices of fried bologna and two or three slices of amercian cheese all in a sandwhich I used to have it for an after school snack or some mornings for breakfast.
I used to eat whatever. Leftovers, hot pockets, waffles drenched in syrup, mac 'n cheese, those lipton pasta ronis and rice a ronis, ramen noodles, bagel bites, pizza rolls, and chef boyardee was my best friend. Oh and I used to eat the whole box, not just a a single serving. I'm just cringing at the thought now.
Ugh, I can't even go into that. I would eat SO MUCH food it was pretty much disgusting. Like multiple sandwiches and spaghetti and pizza and pretty much whatever the hell was in the fridge. Plus I was always a good chef and pretty creatives, so I could make something really freakin' delish out of almost nothing and then have like 3 bowls of whatever it was. ![]()
hahaaa, my typical afterschool "snack" was just abouuut anything i wanted.
like going to the deli around the corner from the subway station after school let out with my friends, and gorging on sugary drinks, COOOOOOOOKIES (finished a whoole packet of chips ahoy within 40 minutes!), bagels, cereal cereal ceral, cookies cookies, mutiple sandwiches.
aha. i have NO clue as to how the freak my highest weight is only 104. xD
it just egged me on to not care about how much i ate anyway =P
now, im looking to bulk up though. lose all the 104 pounds of fat that makes it hard for me to run a 9 minute mile, and replace it with muscle. ;]
I had a lot of vending machine food. Candy bars, sunchips, trail mix, ect. I also would go out to eat with friends to fast food. But mostly i just drank WAY too much caffiene and sugary drinks. Monster enery drinks were my favorite and also a lot of black and white mochas, venti size with whip, somtimes even made with breve aha.
i loved...
chips and salsa (still do but back then i would eat like the whole bag after school) quesadillas full fat frappachinos all the time when i went shopping with my mom pizza ice cream pasta (now i know the correct portion and only whole wheat) in middle school we went to this hot dog joint and i would get hot dog, fries side of cheese for dipping and a medium mountain dew everday for lunch. then we would get gummy worms or ice cream or tcby parfaits later. omg im surprised i wasn't a blimp. pancakes. chicken parmigana. belgium waffles. mayonaise. oreos. peanut butter.
there's so much more... ahhhh
