before you became health-conscious..
before you started calorie-counting or knew anything about health, what was your typical afterschool snack(s)?
mine was like pizza, bowls of cereal, fruit and chocolate bars from the vending machine at school. what about you?
Many, many, many moons ago (late 60's or so), I ate the most wonderful after school snacks everyday. My grandparents lived on the next street over and every afternoon I went to their house for homemade treats that they stuffed me with, for fear I might blow away if a storm were to come up. It didn't matter that I already "waddled" when I walked! In my family, if you didn't eat, you were most likely dying or would soon be dead. Then, I would go to my own house for the obligatory pound of Oreo cookies and chocolate milk. In my teen years, it was entire bags of potato chips, covered in french onion dip, washed down with as much Coca-Cola and Cheerwine that I could stand, plus Moon Pie's and Snicker bars.
Yummmmmmmmm.
When I got off from school back in high school I would eat 2-3 servings of cheetoes, 2-3 cups of 2% milk, a cosmic brownie, 3-5 oz of salami, and 2-3 oz of swiss cheese.
After school, I remember this clearly, eating TWO BBQ hotpockets and a full thing of Gatorade.
But that was back before I was obsessed with calories and what not. Ah, the good ol' days...
id have a giant bagel w tons of lox cream cheese from the bagel place after school, then a regular dinner like 2 hrs later
My faaavorite after-school snack was a ham, apple and [lots&lots&LOTS of] cheese sandwich, with a side of [lots&lots&LOTS of] doritos (:
I still enjoy it from time to time, but with less cheese saturation :p
I always ate whatever my family cooked and bought from the store...which includes lots of junk food (chips, pizza, etc.), soda, fried/boiled food, and lots and lots of white rice.
And yet, I'm the only "obese" person in the family besides my dad. Everyone else are super thin and atheletic and its funny because I'm pretty atheletic myself. I guess I've always eaten more than necessary. >_>
Huge amounts of Cheez-Its, an asiago cheese bagel from Panera with tons of cream cheese, leftover cake/brownies/cookies, or chips and salsa.
And then some days I would have an orange, a peach, or salad. lol.
I would sit in front of the TV and eat my way through a quarter to a half of a box of wheat thins.
When I was really little (like 8) I would go through sooo much candy; I went to my dad's bike shop after school, and my grandparents' kept a drawer full of candy for me. I also ate lots of mini donuts, mt. dew, and sprite. I'd go through several cans in a day.
When I was in 7th grade, I usually ate lots of pizza flavored goldfish crackers with tomato sauce. Nowadays, I do sometimes eat tomato sauce, but more as a dinner (it;s like cold soup!) and with a high fiber/low carb tortilla.
Most days I used to fry up this huge frypan full of bacon when I got home from school, it was like my comfort food. Also I ate a lot of reeses peanut butter cups.
Whenever I had money after school I would buy a blue gatorade and a kit-kat or twix bar from the student store. Or if I wanted something salty I would go for sour cream and onion chips. Usually my mom would take me and my sis (who is lucky enough to naturally be a twig) to a second (big) lunch after school, or we would stop at the dairy queen that is on the route back home and share a Blizzard. And this all was after I ate chicken fingers, fries, ranch dip, quesadillas, grilled cheese, etc. at lunch in the cafeteria. How I miss those days. It is amazing that I stayed under 130 lbs while eating all that. Now I would never eat that much in one sitting.
one of my loveliest memories from primary school (age like.. 7) is getting home from school, sitting down watching cartoons with 3 party rings :D (cookies).
and only 30cal each! haha.
but then when i got older, it was usually a big bowl of special K. yummmm
Well, I don't really remember...
My sister say I used to eat an apple or a bowl of Rice Krispies cereals.
My mom say i used to eat cashew nuts.
But I remember eating ice cream, Mr. Christie's triple chocolate cookies, and those Brownie Parfait I used to buy at my school (Brownies at the bottom, Rasberries at the middle and topped with whip cream...sooo sinful)
EVERYTHING! No joke, i ate leftovers, spaghetti, hot pockets, pot pie, mac and cheese, hot dogs, hamburgers, pasta roni, hamburger helper, pizza, crackers, cereal, ice cream, TACO BELL, MCDONALD'S, WENDYS, BURGER KING,CALIFORNIA TORTILLA, SUBWAY, TACO BELL, ROY ROGERS, KFC, CHick-Fil-A, PANERA BREAD, TACO BELL.
BTW, every other night i would eat about 2-3 things from the first list, and one restaurant after school, and one way late at night after work , oh yeah i worked in a restaurant, so i pretty much ate the whole time I was there. but it is funny because my new job that i got just before CC is at a Children's Fitness Center, how ironic.
like 2 cups of goldfish
occasionally pizza
occasionally M&Ms from the vending machine
& tons of cookie
soo stupid!!!!!!!!! :[
I'd get home from practice and eat pie sandwiches. No lies, you toast two slices of bread, butter them, and stick a mince&cheese pie between them. so unbeliveably bad for you, and my entire rugby team used to eat these things.
I miss my pies... :(
