I posted a thread on this a while back:

Hope it helps you! :D

  • plain popcorn sprinkled with cinnamon and splenda.
  • sugar-free hot chocolate.
  • sugar-free gummy candies.

that's all i can think of at the moment.

I thought this was cute... black bean hummus: http://blog.fatfreevegan.com/2008/10/spooky-b lack-bean-hummus.html

Rice krispie cookies cut in Halloween shapes won't set you back as much as cake or something similiar.

Oh here's a recipe that I think might be good but haven't tried yet. It has a bit of an asian flare to it.

 Bone-Crunching Meatballs

1 Can sliced water chestnuts (cut into 60 halves)

1 egg lightly beaten

3 T soy sauce

1/2 C. chopped green onion

1/5 C.  bread crumbs

2 T cilantro minced

1 1/2 tsp.  ginger minced

1 tsp. garlic minced

1/4 tsp. pepper

1 1/2 lbs lean ground turkey

mix all ingreidents expect the chestnuts together blending well then portion into 60 balls and place a into each balls.(cookie scoops work well for this job.) Then sautee the meatballs in a little bit of whatever oil you like (making sure not to over crowd.) I like to rolls my meatballs often to make sure they keeps a nice round shape until nice and brown then bake at 350 degrees for about 15 min. just make extra sure they are really well cooked.  Serve with plum sauce.

orange and pupkin soup, served in the pumpkin, with a swirl of no fat natural yoghurt, stir fried pumpkin with peppers, onions and chick peas with mexican spices served in tortilla wraps with no fat natural yoghurt, basically anything pumpkin as its halloween. oh spiced apples with a low fat margarine instead of butter, splenda instead of sugar with sultanas and spice with istant custurd as its not so calorific. Have a lovely halloween and if you want any recipes just ask.

Love and light and bright blessing sue aka the astralhippy

astralhippy- aka- Sue -You took my next idea right out of my head and THEN made it even better!!!lol

I was thinking a good defense to eating unhealthy on such a tempting night is to be good and full on the good stuff. How charming the to serve a nice hot soups in a pumpkin shell. It would a great time to take the party outside with hot soup. How cozy and affordable? LOVE IT~!

cellophane_star- Oh gosh that hummus is such a cute idea! thanks so much. I think I prefer that to my cheese ball idea. (lol No pun intended) It's over all healthier and a bit more trendy.  Thanks again.

Oh put the barbeque on while your partying outside and brush some spiced honey onto mixed fruit kebabs, barbeque untel honey has caremalised and sprinkle over with sultanas, yummies

I posted a couple of pics in my gallery of the Halloween treats I made for a party we had on Saturday...

Severed Foot Cheesball (low-fat cream cheese, low-fat cheddar, fat-free ham, olives, worchestershire sauce, garlic, pepper, and a bit of food colouring to tint.)

Mummy fingers (turkey sausage, chopped mushrooms, onions, chili-garlic paste, cumin, cinnamon, pepper, an egg white, wrapped in phyllo sheets using water to dampen instead of oil and just spray lightly with cooking spray on top)

Spooky seven-layer dip (I made my own "refried" beans just cooking dry pinto beans, adding sauteed onions and garlic, and mashing it all up...the sour cream layer was fat-free, the cheese was low-fat cheddar, the guacamole was avacado mashed with lime juice and fat-free sour cream, the salsa was homemade so low-sodium and fat-free of course, and the spiderweb on top was fat-free sour cream and an olive for the spider)

I served the dips with whole wheat crackers and baked tortilla chips.

Apparently the hummous person stole my idea lol

my mom used to peel grapes and put them in a bowl labeled eyeballs. She'd set out toothpicks and lots of little bowls with gross labels, but the grapes are the only ones I can think of that would be healthy! (We come from a family that usually serves Kielbasa slices Swedish Meatballs and cheese cubes as the regular appetizer for parties.)

Victoriagirl your pictures are amazing!  What great creativity!

  • Dark chocolate
  • Trail mix; chex, raw nuts, dried fruit, and M&MS
  • Apples covered in low sugar caramel sauce
  • Toasted pumpkin seeds
  • Fruit leather
  • Popcorn drizzled with lowfat chocolate syrup
  • Nutella spread on pumpkin bread
  • Apple juice with no added sugar
  • Cold apple cider
  • Orange sherbert
  • S'mores; 1 graham cracker, 2 large marshmallows, 2 hershey kisses. Microwave till chocolate melts
  • Veggie sticks with a black bean dip, sour cream, or onion dip

Don't know if someone's already suggested it or not, but how about Jello Jigglers made from sugar free jello? The have orange and you could maybe use blue or green with it? Just a thought.

Love all these ideas!

My favorite snack....

melt dark chocolate, mix with sugar free, no salt peanut butter pour into small cupcake liners and refrigerate. Delicious peanut butter cups!

I also saw a recipe the other day for black bean brownies... I am trying to locate that recipe. Haven't tried it but if it has chocolate, you bet i'll be testing that one out! Will post again with recipe....

Here's my reply to a similar post, maybe it will help!

I dont know if that link will work or you might have to copy and paste it into your browser but it's very helpful if you are making treats at home for yourself for the holiday!

HungryGirl made the cutest Meringue Ghosts and Witches brooms that won't break your calorie bank. I think I might make the ghosts just because :)

Here is the brownie recipe I promised.....  I haven't tried this yet, so if anyone does, I would love some feedback on taste and if you made any substitutions....

Black Bean Brownies

Makes 21 Servings (serving size is 3- 1" squares)

1 can black beans (13-15 ounces), rinsed well

4 eggs

1 c sugar substitute

2 tbsp extra-virgin olive oil

3 tbsp unsweetened cocoa

1 tsp vanilla

1 tsp baking soda

chopped nuts (optional)*

spray an 8 x 8 brownie pan with non stick cooking spray. Blend all ingredients (except nuts) in a blender until smooth. Transfer the batter into a mixing bowl and fold in nuts (if desired). Then, pour the batter into the prepared brownie pan. Bake at 350F for approx 30 minutes, until set in the middle. Enjoy!

*Don't know if the chopped nuts were factored into the calorie count.

Eggs can be subbed with Egg Beaters.
