It may seem like an oxymoron BUT...do you guys think any fast food restaurants have healthy options? If so, which one do you think is the best? I personally say Harvey's. I always get a veggie burger with a garden salad and it's sooo good.
I'll say Natures Table and some things from Subway
Is Subway's brown bread decent for you? A footlong sub seems like eating a whole loaf of bread, but sooo good lol.
I've never heard of Natures Table!
Sorry to burst your bubble, but most 'veggie burgers' served in restaurants can still rack up almost as many calories and grams of fat as a normal burger. Unless you've checked the nutritional info and proved me wrong, then I'm sorry to have assumed wrong. :D
But you can make decent choices at fast food restaurants, depending on what it provides. Some McDonald's restaurants offer fruit cups, yogurt, and other yummy little things like that. But sometimes you'll be lucky to find a salad on the menu!
Subway is probably your best bet. They have whole wheat bread, which has fiber and protein. You also have control over everything, so you can make it as healthy - or unhealthy - as you please. They also have healthier side items, like apples and raisins, and some nice soups.

Harvey's veggie burger has only 7 g of fat and 150 calories!
that does not sound realistic, considering the bun should be 150 cals alone.
edited to add, maybe that is just the patty. I pretty sure that is what it is.

OK so this is what I have found! The grilled chicken burger at Burger king minus the top bun is only about 320 an dyou can have the honey mustard they put on it. I think that if you stick to grilled chicken no mayo you will stay within a 350-400 calorie range, which I know is a lot but if you are on the run it is better for you than a burger and fries!
When I have to get fast food I always opt for Carls Jr. I get the grilled BBQ chicken sandwich. It's 370 cal. 4 g fat, 35 g. protein. It comes on a whole wheat bun and is actually really tasy! I just get a bottled water with it and that is my whole meal. It's better thatn a lot of other options. The other place I will go is Wendys and get a baked potaoe.
I wish someone would starrt up a chain of healthy resteraunts with drive up windows... I have a 1 and a 3 year old... we don't do sit down resteraunts...

Yeah it is just the patty! I like it better that way. I'm big on bland food! lol
I get so happy when fast food places have baked potatoes. BK's is great! I haven't heard of many of those other restaurants you guys mentioned :P

The wheat bread at Subway is definitely not 100% whole wheat bread. In fact Subway is very good about disclosing that. The first ingredient they list is enriched flour.
In general, if I have to eat fast food I go for some kind of salad with
grilled chicken, avoiding the cheese, croutons, and dressing. Or if I'm
really in the mood for a burger, I'll order it without the bun, and
have them wrap it in lettuce instead. I know Carl's Jr will do that, as
well as the California chain In & Out. Or of course you can get a
grilled chicken sandwich and have that wrapped in lettuce too. That is
usually a fairly healthy option.
No fries! No soda! Well, maybe diet coke :D
Anyone have other ideas?

Captain D's has three low-cal meals (fish, chicken or shrimp) for under 400 calories. Applebee's (not fast food though) has several lower calorie items but I've actually not ate there since I've started my weight loss journey. And of course Subway which is where I usually end up at if I'm out.
If you go to Google Search, you can look up almost any fast food place and see the cals and stuff in all items on the menus. I did this a long time ago, so I would be prepared for any place in my area. I rarely eat out (funds REALLY tight) and I would rather make my own food, I really dont trust others making my food.LOL...
But, back to the subjuct.. I find the best thing to do is get a salad, with no cheese, no crutons, dressing on the side, get a pkg of the lowest cal dressing they have, like oil/vinger based, and grilled chicken. Make sure the chicken is grillen with out butter though. Some palce's dont tell you they baste them with a margerine/ butter sauce.
For a "burger" get it without the bun, think about it, you really dont need the bun, the only reason most of us eat the bun, is we have been taught for since we were kids that the way to eat a buger was with the bun, teach yourself a NEW way...What you are craving is the meat..not the bread...if your craving bread, then just eat the bread, and dont eat the buger...Atleast this is MY way of thinking.

Okay, question. Today I was going through the mail and there was a Subway add and it had coupons for Subway Pizza and Double Stacked (double the meat and cheese) Sandwiches. Am I missing something? I thought Subway bragged about being the place for healthy fast food?
I actually like Chik-Fil-A. I usually get the classic chicken sandwich on a wheat bun for 390 calories total (sodium is 1,370 though) with 13 grams of fat.
Or I get the chargrilled chicken club sandwich on wheat bun for 380 calories, 11 g fat, and sodium is at 1240 mg.
But then of course, I can't help but order their yummy waffle fries.

I'm guessing Subway is trying to be all things to all people - they don't want people to not go because it's "diet" food. As long as they keep choices I can have in a pinch, I'll be happy.
I head for panera when I have a choice -- the veggie, black bean, or chicken noodle soup - and half of the asian chicken salad - with an apple for dessert -- yum.

I have a friend who is severely overweight (doesn't seem to bother him) and he's obsessed with Taco Bell. I read their nutritional info & was disgusted! It's awful!
In Toronto there's a salad chain where you can make your own salad on the go. It's pretty cool... also I saw a restaurant called "lettuce" the other day.
I just went to the Panera Bread website and looked up their info....
The best things were their saladsand soups:
The Salmon Salad 1/2 portion is 170 cals Full 340...the new Poppy seed Chicken was around the same...
They have a fruit salad that is 70 cals for a 1/2 por, 150 for a full.
Their Sandwichs are HIGH cals, ect for Turkey...The one in the Cafe, not the specialty one, the plain ole one is like 24o for a 1/2 a sand.
You may think you can "play it safe" with the kids menu....not here, and I wouldn't feed my kids from this menu, The kids choices have more cal in them than on the reg menu. The PBand J......430 cal!!!!!!, Your better off getting them the fruit cup, and a bowl of vegy soup.

It is your right as a consumer to order things however you want them. You can order just the meat patty for burgers and just the fillet from fish and chicken sandwhiches.
I work at Chick Fil A and I'm always happy to see people come in and order just the Chargrilled fillet. I decided there were a few really healthy/yummy things on our menu: Chargrilled chicken sandwich, chargrilled chicken garden salad (hold the cheese), fruit cups, carrot and raisin salad, and Chargrilled Chicken Cool Wrap. Granted, all these things still have a ton of sodium.
Salads can be scary even though you would think they are safe. If you knew nothing and got a Strip salad a CFA, added the ENTIRE packet of Caeser dressing and the croutons and sunflower seeds they give you with it... you would be nearing 1000 calories. I've seen it done before.
At Taco Bell, they have a special "fresco" menu and I get the soft chicken tacos, fresco style.
