Can I healthily eat all of my daily calories before 11AM?
do to circumstances for the upcoming week, i will not have a chance to eat between 11AM and 8-9PM. i really don't like eating that late and i don't want to screw up my metabolism.
i usually eat 12-1400 calories/day. i'm going to be in a pool (read: bathing suit) for the majority of the day, so i don't want to be too stuffed and bloated.
any suggestions?
If it's a week I guess it's ok. It's better to spread out your calories, but as I said, it's just a week. Aslong as it's not a thing you plan to do from here on out.
do you have any suggestions on what i can eat? i usually eat a ton of low cal food (fruits, veggies, etc) and am always full, so that's pretty much out this week. the only higher cal foods i can think of would be really unhealthy, but i want to eat a lower volume.
Can't you bring food with you? I couldn't go that long without eating, without getting really cranky.
i'm going to be in a pool. it would get soggy :(
There's no time during the day for you to have a 5 or 10 minute snack? Like, just a banana and a granola bar or something?
It will be extremely difficult for you to stay alert and active without nourishment throughout the day... however, if there's no other alternative, I'd say foods like peanut butter or nuts are good for you. You can also take drinks with you during the day that might help you get some of your calories and nutrients (V8 or a low-sugar fruit drink). I would try to have something small in the evening, even if its just a bowl of fruit or some boneless skinless chicken.
Bear in mind that if you eat everything in the morning, you'll still need to maintain a balanced diet, so while you might be able to cut down on the volume somewhat, you're going to have to eat a variety of foods (Fruits, veggies, grain, etc.), which will likely accumulate into a sizeable amount.
All that said,
I find it a little troubling that you won't disclose your height or weight on your page, while you ask for this kind of health information. I can see from your gauge that you aim to be 90lbs and that you'll be happy "when everything in [your] life falls into place in direct proportion to [your] weight loss." The idea that everything in your life will be perfect if you can just achieve that *goal* weight seems a bit obsessive and, if I had to guess, I'd probably figure you were in your young teenage years. (That may sound harsh, but there is no malice in this... I simply hope that if you are in this position, that you will reconsider what problems are really going on in your life and seperate them from your weightloss efforts, so that you do not do harm to your body.)
Because I don't know your stats, that's an unfair judgement to make, and I don't mean to offend you if I am completely off of the mark or you have a legitimate reason for not posting your information when asking for this kind of help... Please, though, if you really want to help your body and to improve it, be careful with it and treat it well. You get what you give... and if you give your body nothing, it can only return that favor. Remember that numbers on a scale are just that - numbers. Its how you feel and the energy and health that you've gained that really make the difference. :)
If you planned it this way, then you definitely need to switch some things around so you have time to eat. If someone else planned it for you/you're on someone else's schedule, you need to inform them. Seriously. That's just ridiculous.
Why can't you bring a lunchbox and put it outside the pool?
Can you bring a small cooler? You can by them at the supermarket, and they will keep food cool and dry.
i didn't plan it. it's a class for a certification which requires a specific number of hours in the water for completion. it's a 40 hour class condensed into five days, so there really isn't any extra time in there. i'm bringing a luna bar just in case we do get some sort of a lunch break but i wanted to make sure that i can still be healthy if we don't.
also, i'm 21 and 5'. 90 was just the number i entered before i knew about BMIs and the like. my new goal is to just lose until i feel that i am comfortable with where my body is.
my stats were posted, but i was frustrated one day and replaced them with what i was feeling. i should probably change that back.
thanks for all of the help! unfortunately the schedule is pretty set in stone and i'm just trying to make the best of it.
I find it hard to believe that someone expects you to be in a pool for nine-ten hours and not stop to eat for a few moments. I mean, you're going to have to get out to use the BATHROOM--stop and eat something, make a pit stop!
Since your question is can you HEALTHILY eat all your calories before 11...no, not really. Your body needs energy throughout the day. And there's no way I would be able to last ten hours in a pool without food--swimming gets me hungry! I'd recommend at least eating a little something afterwards.
Bring more than a luna bar. There is 0% chance that they won't even give you breaks. As minerva said...you have to use the bathroom.
Can you call and clarify with the instructor? The instructor is probably going to want lunch and bathroom breaks also.
In the original post did you meant that you didn't want to eat late at night because you think that will screw up your metabolism?
2. Eating at 8 or 9pm is not bad. It will NOT make you gain weight, even if you wake up in the morning with a minimal gain on the scale it is not a "true weight gain" meaning a gain of fat on your body. This is a myth that just won't die. So when you get home eat a bowl of cereal or a sandwich or something.
You will not last the week if you don't keep your calories up over the course of the day. You will get weak and headachy. Not to mention cranky. Even if you do eat all your calories in the morning, it's not going to matter, what you'll be doing in the water will cause you to need more of them anyway and you'll be dying for replenishment by the end of the day.
If you spend ten hours a day in the pool burning calories without putting extra into your body, you will get sick as a dog. TAKE FOOD!!!!!!!!! And when you get home at eight o'clock, EAT SOMETHING! It doesn't matter whether you 'want to' or not - you're going to need the fuel to give you the energy to get up and repeat the process next day. Common sense should tell you that. Swimming burns a ton of calories.
Interesting enough, I started a thread that was similar to this. Everyone on there agreed that it would not be healthy to eat all of you calories in the morning. There must be some time during the day where you can eat. Especially since you're swimming. They can't expect everyone to go on the entire day without any breaks or meals.
your body cannot process that many calories at once...theyll be stored as fat...and if u are worried about being bloated in a swimsuit, u def will if u eat 2000 calories before 9 am!
My boss once tried to tell me I was not allowed to go into the break room and eat outside of regular breaktimes. This meant going from 5am to 9:30am with no snack. I promptly told him to shove it and took my snack break anyway. You know what happened? Nothing...they can't make you go that long without allowing you to eat and drink. Bring food and eat it. A cooler is a good idea since you will need at least 2 meals in there. If not three!!! All that swimming..you will need to eat more.
thanks for the help! they gave us a 20 min lunch break, so my question is pretty much moot now. the course description made it sound like there was no break so i was trying to plan for that.
oh, and also, i don't really like to eat late because i hate the feeling of food still in my stomach when i wake up in the morning. not because i think it will make me gain weight.
you honestly were in there for 10 hours only getting out once? that sounds very unhealthy
