We're going to Disney World!!! We leave tomorrow night. We're driving. So...I'll be MIA from here all of next week and probably won't check in again, (after tomorrow) until Monday the 15th.

When I get back I'll be going full force with my food logging again. I really need to move on from all this weight garbage!!! Besides, I have a heart doc appt in July and I'm really hoping to show some kind of progress. These darn shows showing people's weight loss affecting their health conditions so much and bringing them off their meds or lowering their meds...it's so misleading!!! Mine has hardly changed all this time!!! Hmph!!! Sometimes I get the feeling my doc is so paranoid about making a mistake by lowering or removing stuff that he's hesitant to do so.
Oh awesome!!! You'll have a blast!!! I probably already missed you.... but have a great time!!! No thinking about diet while on vacation!!!! I'm sure you'll be running around having fun enough to even it out anyway!!! ![]()
Sorry I've been so MIA! Hopefully Val is having a blast on vacation right now! i'm super jealous.
I haven't been doing great lately. I ended up going a full week with no workouts. This week isn't going too great either. HOpefully next week I can get back into it hardcore. this weekend I"ll be in Tahoe for my bachellorette party! I'm so excited! It's going to be a crazy weekend!
So when do you start the new job sheila? Is it in the same place you're at now?
Hey ladies!! I'm baaaack!!!!! We had a total blast. The weather was hot and humid but not as humid as it can get in August, here in Chicago. Thank goodness!! Eh, even if it was I wouldn't have cared.
Ok, so now that I'm back I'm getting on the working out/eating right bandwagon again. I must, I must, I must!!! I'll post pictures later on Flicker. And, hopefully get time to get on Facebook too!!!

Yes I did get the job... it's at Elgin Mental Health Center - I'll be on the Forensic Unit... I'm so excited!!! I don't start until September... so I'll have a little bit of a break after my current one ends... I have plenty to fill my time with though!!!

So I decided to start my cal/deficit tracking on my journal again. I need to do something to get me more focused.
And, I was really inspecting my gym shoes that I got a couple months ago and what do you know...they're a full size bigger than they should be. I wear a 8.5 in a regular shoe, a 9.5 in gym shoes...these are a 10.5!!! Ugh, how the hell did I miss that? I knew they felt bigger than the others but I figured it was a different style and all so that was probably why. My knees have been hurting, I've been getting tired faster when I'm running, and even walking around at Disney (I used my gym shoes) was wearing down my knees!! So, I went online to see if I could find the exact brand I had before and since they're "last year's style" I'm finding them on retail sites for less than what I originally bought them for. I'm just a little nervous buying them online...what do you guys think?

I'm pretty picky about how my gym shoes fit... I do the whole pinching thing for 20 min... walk around the store for half an hour... lol.... I really wanna make sure they fit well and are comfortable and everything... so I'd be nervous about buying online.... but it sounds like you're going to be buying the same ones you had before that you liked?? That should make it more likely that they'll fit and all that... but make sure you know their return/exchange policy just in case... as you can see the fit of your shoe can really impact you!!!
I've been going down slow but steady... I'm back at 222 again... and I know I've said it a million times... but I really think I'm going to stay out of the 220s this time when I get there!!! This is the first time I've really made steady progress for so long... so I'm hoping it will stick!! I really need to bump up the exercise part though... start taking advantage of that gym we're paying for now!! I know I will more in July... but I don't want to keep putting it off with excuses, ya know??

Yes, I'm looking at getting the exact pair I had before, same make/model...so to speak. Lol I just worry about the security of it all. I really loved those other shoes. They were SOOOOOO comfy!!!
It's supposed to rain all darn week...on and off...so I have no real plans. For Father's day we're thinking about going to the movies. I've been teasing dh that Disney was his Birthday/Father's day present all rolled in one. But we do have to do something, it just wouldn't feel right if we didn't. He's been trying to make me feel bad that I didn't go along with his request to let him do the race car driving thing at Disney. They have a real race car and track that you can either...ride shotgun in the racecar with a professional driver and go around the lap 4 times...OR...go through an hour of training and do the 4 laps solo. The first would've cost $125, the second would've cost $425!!! He did NOT want to do the first one. I love my hubby and all but $425 for an hour and maybe a few minutes, that's just crazy!!! He's not going to let me live it down for a while. He's brought it up everyday since.
Okay...I did my incumbant bike last night. Tonight's plan is to do a run on the treadmill and then weights. I'll have to get the ice packs ready!!!
OMG that would have been awesome!!!! But yes... very expensive... lol!! Any movies in mind??? We saw UP and of course Pelham recently... both very excellent!!!
We might be going on a tour of a cheese farm... lol!!! There's gonna be 14 of us and it's free... so what the heck!!! It does look kind of fun... you get to milk a cow and stuff like that!!

Well, I broke down and ordered those shoes. I only made it 2 miles before my knees were hurting too much to keep going so that pushed me over the edge in my decision. I already got confirmation they've been shipped. I'll go online shortly to see where they are. Woohoo, I'm excited.

What do you all have planned for Dad's Day? I'm going to try to barbecue for Dh, his friend, and my brother. We'll see how that turns out. We'll see if the weather cooperates. Cross those fingers!!!
Okay, so today is day 4 (Mon-Thurs) that I've logged my foods, AND posted them in my journal for anyone to see so that I try to keep myself in check. I hope I can continue to do so over the weekend. That's where I have my hardest time. Remembering to log. Taking the time to write stuff down. Drinking!!!! Maybe I should start chewing on straws!
I got my shoes!!!!!!!!!! I was so happy to see them at the house last night!! They felt SOOOOO good. My knee still hurt a little when I finished running but I think that is remnants leftover from last week. Hopefully...
I didn't do well for logging my stuff over the weekend but I tried to mostly stuff myself with fruits and veggies over the weekend. I hope that helped make a difference. I am going to try to stay adamant with keeping my produce fully stocked. It's so much easier to eat well when the good for you food is IN YOUR FACE!! Lol Know what I mean?
In the meantime...it is going to be in the 90's today with the humidity so high they're saying it'll feel like it's over 100 degrees!!! Tomorrow will be more of the same. I'll have to make sure I bring water with me if I run outside tonight.
And some good news for Lil'V....her bball team made it to the playoffs!!! They play their final game of the season Thursday. They're entering the playoffs in first place!! I'm so excited for her and her team. They've worked so hard to get in 1st place. I really hope it sticks for them!!
And on another Lil'V note...she's been signed up for summer camp. She starts today. It's for a similar length of time as when she was in school, 9-3pm. Today they're outside swimming. Lucky her!!

Holy cow mamas!!! Sheila, are you feeling this heat!?!?!? Yesterday hubby's car thermometer said it was 122 in his car!! Today is supposed to be even hotter and just as humid. Why do we have to get extremes!?!?!? And our electricty was knocked out to top it off. STICKY ICKY!!!
At least I got my run in before the electricity was gone. But I didn't get my shower done beforehand. Cold shower=YIKES!!!!!!!![]()

I am so sure you don't remember me much but I remember all of you! Boy have I missed you! I had the baby and I can't seem to get some of the baby weight off... I am up to the highest I have ever been at 217-218 and I am looking forward to getting back on track. :-0 I am hitting the gym tonight after work but you guys are such great inspiration and have always been! Can I join back in with you all?

I seemed to have started creeping up again myself. I'm trying to get back on track full force with both my eating and exercising.

I am so happy you guys remember me! I love talking about my little man... He was born on 11/22/08 at 8:44 pm. He is so awesome. he is the EASIEST baby in the whole world and so so so happy... He just got 2 teeth and his two top teeth are coming in now. He is sitting up and ALMOST crawling. It is wonderful! He slept through the night IMMEDIATELY, within just a week or two. He weighed 7 lbs 4 oz but I couldn't breastfeed so he lost a whole pound and they almost had to readmit him to the hospital. I delivered via C-Section after 30 hours of Labor and 15 hours without any meds. Anyway, he is the apple of my eye!
I made it to the gym last night and got in a minimal workout, 30 minutes before I sprained my ankle on the rowing machine! I know, of all places! I am going to hit the gym tonight after hubby gets home from school so he can watch the baby... Lets get back on track together Val!![]()
Aw!! How is he with his teething? He seems like a pretty calm lil'man. I'm sure that is very helpful with everything! Watch out when he does start crawling, there's no stoppin' them then!!! ![]()

Yes, I felt like I was getting into a spiral...an upward one. Oh no!!! I worked out last night and I just booked myself for a race on Saturday. I have to keep up with things if I want to keep racing and getting faster at it.
So what are your workout plans for tonight?
He was doing fine until all of them came in at once... now he is very winey :-( and on top of that, the other day, he had to get shots and was just plain miserable last week! But, overall, he is such a good baby! I know isn't it weird that i sprained my ankle on the rower? How random is that!!!???? I was strapped in and i puled back to quickly a few times and my ankle twisted and it got stuck that way, I tried to walk it off on the treadmill but it just wouldn't budge... At least up to that point I got 30 minutes in!
Upward Spiral... I know ALL about those! I REALLY need to focus on eatin better and not givin myself any excuses... that is what kills me... Even if I do a light workout, I HAVE to work out, I have to get into the mode again... Once I am there, it is easy. Eating healthy is hard too now more than ever...
You are into participating in races now? that is SO awesome val! great job! What are your stats now? How do you plan on getting back onto the wagon? What are your goals for the month of July?
My plans tonight are to hit the gym after Nathan gets home. He has class and wont be home til 8 so I will get to the gym and do mostly strength training tonight with a light cardio warmup. I really want to get into yoga and pilates and am looking into the classes at my gym :-) I can't wait to try those, I have always wanted to get my flexibility back!
My two goals for July are so basic, but pretty much what you're planning for yourself. I want to truly log my foods more consistently. When I was doing good for myself I'd log every morsel that passed my lips. Now, I take a taste here, grab a taste there and don't count it and I know it's adding up. Another thing is my drinking, I hardly drank at all the first year doing this and slowly I started introducing it back...well now, it's a regular thing. Lol There's always a party, always a reason. Ya know? Oh, it's been a long week, I'll just have a couple beers.
Anyway, my other July goal is to get in 1250 minutes of exercise for the month. I don't have a problem normally, but things just started getting away from me on that too.
I started really tracking my exercise minutes on 6/15 through yesterday and I racked up 440 minutes. I can do better!
Yep, I'm into races. I love the competition even though it's not really against anyone in particular. I have one on July 4th at 7:30am!! I did that race last year so I figure I'll stick with it. I'm trying to repeat some of races from last year and hopefully see better times in each.
Kt has been hardcore into triatholans!! I'm so impressed by her and those accomplishments!!

Ah, poor baby...I hate when you have to take them for shots and the nurses/doctors tell you to hold them down. It just breaks your heart!! They trust us so much and then we pin them down and torture them. Aww!!!
I have been doing really well with Logging my foods... I hate that it holds me accountable, but in the same, it is good too! i did not do well yesterday at all... I was EXHAUSTED when I got home, no excuses today is a new day but No, i didn't make it to the gym last night. Tonight, I am definately going, already have my gym clothes packed and in the car. ![]()
I am going to shoot for the same exercise goal as you... 1250 minutes is a good starting number and i am going to increase it by 100 every month! We can push eachother...
I have been drinking a lot this summer too... It is so nice to have a cold beer on a SUPER hot night, or a margarita, or a spiked southern tea MMMM
That is so exciting that KT is still doing triathlons! that is amazing! Where is she now? Did she end up getting married and all that fun? I told DF that I wanted to do a marathon in the future :-) he said that I should go for it!
Were you able to go to the gym? How was your calorie intake yesterday?
I didn't go to the gym but I did take a ride on my bike to Blockbuster that's a couple miles away. I tried to haul butt...the trip, including going in to exchange a movie, 25 minutes.
I don't have a gym membership, I have my treadmill, incumbant bike, and hand weights. And of course I have my regular bike too. I ate 1482 calories, burned 1920 cals...so at least I had a deficit.
Tonight I want to get a run in and do weights, planks, and squats afterward. That's what I did on Monday. So...get in your gym clothes, I'll get in mine and we'll haul butt and start off the month on a good note!
Kt is around. I'm sure she'll be popping in soon, but she's not usually gone this long. She's not married yet, that's in August. I'm sure she's busy as heck though getting ready that day. That might be why she's been MIA too.
