My FAVORITE breaky is:

1/2 cup oatmeal
1 tbsp flaxseed
cook till done.
add 2 tablespoons rasins
1 tspn cinnamon
1/2 cup soy milk

Violla!!!

AMAZING. Love it. and it keeps me full all morning!!!
Here's my every day breakfast.

3/4 cup egg beaters

1 slice american cheese (you know the plastic kind)

2 slices of deli ham that's pre-packaged and at 30 calories a slice.

I cook all that up with salt, pepper, basil, onion powder and garlic powder.

YUMMY! And it's only 210 calories and keeps me full for several hours.

(Sorry, looked at your profile after and saw you're vegetarian...I guess skip the ham?? :) )

shizzy~

what exactly is flaxseed and where do you get it?  just a regualr grocery store?

Fiber One Honey Clusters only has 6g of sugar and Cinnamon Life has 8g.  Those are my two favorite cereals, but I'm more of an eggwhites with the plastic cheese myself.  With that I usually have a slice of whole wheat toast and low sugar jam or fresh fruit.

shizzy, flaxseed is a great source of fiber and omega-3 fats that you can add to just about anything.  You can buy it at any grocery store, but be sure to buy the preground.  It's too hard to grind yourself.

Its easy to grind in a cheapo coffee grinder---cheaper to buy bulk as well. In San Diego, we have Henry's Markets that sell bulk flax for 69 cents a pound.

All Cereals these days are HORRIBLE for your diet! The only one I would recommend is Fiber One! It is all fiber & no sugar!

Personally though I think cereal is a waste of money because after an hour of eating a bowl, you feel hungry! Instead of cereal I would recommend you eat scrambled eggs with veggies mixed in or even a piece of grilled fish & veggies along side! No one said you HAD to follow the strict rules of breakfast! Break free from the french toast & pancakes and introduce more protein into your routine.

It is all fiber & no sugar!

I wish it were true. Fiber One still has aspartame as a sweetener.

The only ceral I eat is Kashi GoLean. It has 10 grams of fiber, 13 grams of protein, and only 140 calories. The only sugars it contains are natural, and it has no artifical sweeteners like Fiber One or other 'diet' cereals.
I haven't tried Kashi GoLean because I read several negative posts that said it tasted like cardboard. I do eat Kashi GoLean Crunch even though it has some sweetner (not artificial though).

I eat double fibre toast for breakfast with some almond butter and sliced banana. Sometimes Familia Muesli which is raw oats, bran stuff, dried fruit and a few nuts--it's best if you soak it in milk over night in the fridge.
Right now Im often doing 2eggs, 1 egg white with about 1/4 cup black beans, including liquid to keep it moister although it does make gray eggs.

It is a serious way to fell full during the morning.
Protein pancake:

  • 1/8 cup of oats
  • 1 sm/med banana
  • 3 egg whites
Smash banana in bowl and add oats and egg whites and mix together.  Spray pan w/ff cooking spray and cook just like a pancake.  Then I either microwave some frozen blueberries and put it on top or I add 1/4 sugar free syrup.  Very yummy!
Fiber One has artificial sweetner in it  which is almost worse for you than regular sugar..

I was eating vector for a while.  I am not sure if you get this in the US.  Its like a meal replacement.  11g of sugar, not too bad I guess.  I will put 1 tsp of brown sugar on oatmeal anyway.

Now I am back to oatmeal or yogurt.  either with wheat germ.

i like making smoothies. i use either yogurt or silken tofu with frozen berries. i might even add some almond milk or juice or even some peanut butter or banana if im in the mood. the possibilites are endless!

i also enjoy cereal. right now im on a total kick. i don't worry about sugar because besides the fruit i eat, i doubt i get much sugar. plus it has 100% of a ton of vitamins

i also enjoy kashi's frozen waffles. great with cut up strawberries.

I know this is gonna sound really bizarre, but it's sooo delicious - I pour a bowl of Kashi Go Lean, pour in some water, and generously sprinkle ground ginger over it, then pop it in the microwave for a minute to a minute and a half.  Once it comes out it's nice and hot and a little mushy, kind of like a high-protein and fiber oatmeal.
Sometimes I put a piece of whole grain bread in the toaster. Spread a tablespoon of peanut butter and then about 1/4 cup of nonfat cottage cheese. Sprinkle with some sliced almonds or pumpkin seeds.  It fills me right up.  I eat breakfast at 5:30 everyday and sometimes I get hungry and have a snack around 9 but with this I could last til 11:30.
Lately I've been having(along with black coffee) a whole wheat toasted english muffin with 2 teaspoons of natural peanut butter, one teaspoon for each side. Sometimes i also have 2 egg whites with it. Carbs, fiber, fat and protein! Honestly, this keeps me full for like 6 hours. Try it!

I think it depends on what type of person you are. Like I am someone who can't eat 1 thing and be full. My fave breakfast is scrambled egg whites, a few whole wheat crackers, some cheese(I am going to try laughing cow this week), and half of a large green bell pepper sliced. I don't remember the exact amount of calories but it is pretty healthy and it wasnt over 200 cals. I also really like smoothies, and depending on the fruit I put in them it can keep me full straight until lunch.

With all this talk of added sugar and sweeteners it's no wonder everyone is confused but shizzy's got the right idea!! I go for 1\2 cup of oatmeal, and add some almonds for lasting energy--No sugar in that!!!

some days I have 2 slices of Healthy Life sourdough bread, toasted, with 2 wedges laughing cow reduced fat cheese & 2 tablespoons smuckers reduced sugar strawberry preserves.  280 cal.

healthnuttie, that pancake recipe sounds wonderful.  I'm gonna have that tomorrow.
