healthy breakfast?

Quote  |  Reply
I read somewhere that a healthy breakfast is not just cereal alone, but cereal with fruit and possibly some protein on the side.

I tend to stick to cereal for breakfast on weekdays and maybe eggs/beans/toast on the weekend. So just wondering if anybody could suggest some good healthy ideas for breakfast that dont take ages to prepare please?

thank u!

mix one cup of all bran flakes, one cup frozen blueberries and one 100g yogurt

depending on the yogurt you get its around 220ish calories

or

2 high fiber waffle, with one 100g yogurt and 1/2 frozen blueberries on top

I think it's around 250 calories or somethin..I'm not really sure

this is what I eat every morning and I LOVE it!!

You can always put blueberries, strawberries, or raspberries in your cereal for  the fruit (which tastes very good by the way) :]

Get a plain cereal, mix with fruits (as above0 and yogurt and voila - quick healthy and filling!!

Its still healthy withou tthe protein but not as revving or filling.

Also you can soak oatmeal in boiling water the night before and just warm it in the morning until thick and yummy. I like to add sweetened cottage cheese on top.

Or i like lots of strawberries in diet vanilla yogurt and cottage cheese mixed, topped with muesli or cereal. SOO good.

Cottage cheese + a piece of fruit (my choice is a banana) is good.  I swear by this, as it keeps me feeling full till lunchtime.

You should have: a packet of plain oatmeal sweetened with Stevia (& cooked in water), a hard boiled egg (or 2) and some berries (about 1 cup)

I don't have much time in the morning so I usually have cereal with milk, but then I have a glass of milk with 1 packet of carnation instant unsweetened breakfast. It has a good amount of protein and other nutrients without a lot of prep.

Each and every  morning I have: oatmeal w/ blueberries and soy milk.  That gives me the fruit and protein (from soy milk).  If I feel like extra protein I add in a handful of walnuts.  It's super quick......I put 1/2 cup oatmeal, 1 cup water, 1 cup frozen blueberries in microwave for 2 1/2 minutes.....done.

there is protein in milk, so really you need to be incorporating the fruit into you breakfast. I cut up some oranges and keep them in the fridge, ready to grab a couple after I am done my cereal. I don't like berries in my cereal.

People tend to eat too much protein, so track what you are consuming then decide if you need to add more to your breakfast. In one cup of skim milk there is 9g of protein.

GREAT BREAKFAST:

mix 1 oz. (measured dry) steel cut oats, 1 cup yogurt (nonfat plain if you are trying to cut the cals), and an apple (about 6-8 oz). you can also add other fruits/replace the apple with other fruits so long as you have about 6-8 oz of fruit in total.

also, if you use plain yogurt, you can add cinnamon or even honey to sweeten it up. (however i find that the apple makes it sweet enough on its own!)

this is a balanced breakfast that consists of the right amount of protein and carbs (and also adds fruit i.e. fiber). it adds up to about 300-400 calories, depending on what type of yogurt you use or if you add any sweetener.

and remember, the key is mixing it all together...mm delicious!

hope that helps. good luck :)

I have a this shake on most mornings:

1 apple 1 cup fozen blueberries 1/2 cup skim milk 4 oz. tofu 1 pinch cinnamon

Blend - makes nice thick shake

About 300 calories

Almost every morning I cook this:

In a small saute pan I

grease with a few sprays of pan

1/2 cup chopped broccoli

1/4 cup frozen corn

1 med tomato deseeded and chopped

and whatever else I think will taste good

I cook this until the broccoli is a little soft then I lower the heat and pour in

1/3 cup egg white

I cover and wait until it's solid on top. I eat this with some hot suace and or ketchup

It's a little over 100 cals, but it fills me up!

Also, it may sound like a lot of work but since everything is chopped it cooks fast. It takes less than 10 minutes.

I change it each day
i used to write  blog with some healthy ideas.
http://mini-spoons.blog.com still exists but i had some problems. Just click on breakfast down the side.
