healthy breakfast ideas...
my current favorite breakfast is nonfat plain yogurt with one equal and an apple, or some other fruit. sometimes i add flaxseed too.
the yogurt that i eat is 110 a serving (8 oz.) and the apples are about 75. depending on how much flaxseed i put in, it adds another 35-70 calories.

This sounds sort of weird and gross but is super tasty. I discovered it when I was at my parents' house and all I could find that was at all like fruit to go with my breakfast was canned pumpkin....
One packet plain oatmeal microwaved with 1/2 cup light vanilla soy milk (or milk if you eat dairy I guess) and 1/2 cup canned pumpkin (not the pie mix, so much sugar!) mixed in after you microwave the rest, and cinnamon or 'pumpkin pie' spice mix. If you do Splenda or whatever, I imagine that would be good to add as well. Yum!

Ooh, I love the pumpkin idea-- I've had those cans of pumpkin before and I usually made it into a sort of hot soup-- it was very good
I sometimes make a parfait-- half a cup of low fat plain yogurt, a few teaspoons of grapenuts or granola with frozen raspberries and blueberries

EGG WHITES WHOLE WHEAT WRAP LIGHT SALT/KATSUP WITH LIGHT AND HEALTHY ORANGE JUICE...(juice tastes a little watered down but its half the sugars and calories and still kind of good)
my parents own a breakfast resturant so i get pancakes alot! I usally have banana walnut or apple pancakes with no syrup or butter they are great and i don't think its to high in calories. And they batter my parents use they make so it dosen't have all the chemicals to keep it preserved. I also like to mix dannon light 'n' fit (60 cal) with one serving of fiber one ceral (60 cal) 1/4 cup of oats (no idea how many cal) and top it off with roasted almonds. I also like to have one serving of nature valley cereal (230) with 2% milk and cut up a medium stawberry and sprinkle that on top. Yum!
For a hot summer morning, a frozen smoothie is great!
Put a banana in the freezer (peel and all) the night before. Break it up in the well of the blender. Add some berries or some orange juice, milk or yogurt, a tablespoon or so of ground flaxseed meal, and whiz it up until smooth and thick.

I'm a big fan of a bowl of cheerios with a banana or blueberries and vanilla soymilk. This week I got Kashi GoLean Crunch, honey almond flax flavor... No fruit on top but I still use vanilla soymilk
Soon I'm going to be having eggbeaters w/salsa pre workout and a protein shake post workout. Just gotta get the supplies for all of that...

my stomach just can't handle big breakfasts (dinner is usually my biggest meal, i know it's wrong, but it still works for me), so i try to get it usually somewhere in the 200s. so these are my picks, you can increase the amounts or modify them to work for you.
egg white omelette with fat free cheddar cheese, tomato, & lettuce wrapped in a corn tortilla (i use 1/4 cup cheese in the omelette itself, then i melt the other 1/4 cup on the tortilla)
2 eggo multigrain blueberry waffles with 2 tbsp fat free cream cheese
1 packet of no sugar added rich chocolate carnation instant breakfast blended with dannon light n fit vanilla yougurt (and some ice if you want). its like a smoothie, you can also blend it with just skim milk and ice.
1 piece of wonder light toast with 1 tbsp naturally more peanut butter & sliced up apples or bananas
but i happen to love cereals too. honey bunches of oats, fruity cheerios, honey nut cheerios, frosted mini wheats. no diet will ever stop me from eating cereal. and i like to get creative with oatmeal, adding in some interesting ingredients (some good, some not so good haha).

Take a cue from the Japanese and drink a bowl of Miso soup!
Delish!!!
Delish!!!
hlraphael....you took the words right out of my mouth! (Or rather, the post right off my fingers...) I had miso soup for breakfast yesterday.
I am not a huge breakfast food fan. I would rather have leftover dinner food over an egg anyday. I remember when we were in Switzerland a few years ago we were served bread and lunch meats for breakfast. My kind of place. :-))

Breakfast Cereal Supreme:
go to a good health food store, buy one small package of each of the Whole Grains, they will have about 12-15 grains in "flake" format. (oats, barley, etc)
Mix them all in one big sealed container, and store in fridge.
Pour 1/4 cup dry mix into bowl, with one cup water. microwave 5-6 minutes. About 200 calories, 14 whole grains, does't need salt, or anything. Cheap as borsht, better than buying it, as its chunkier.
Eat with some fruit, milk on the side, 1 sardine on the side. That's a man's breakfast, healthy and filling.
