Quote  |  Reply

I miss eating curry. It used to be so nice but I checked all the spices and they had like a million carbs and calories and plus its not that healthy so I was like gaah. x]

What about you?

Some how I don't think the spices are the calorific part hun! It's all the creamy coconut milk and oil that makes curry bad, and the white rice that usually goes with it which is all empty carbs.  You can make your own healthy curry though!

I miss.... I dunno. I like the healthy diet I have now, but at times I just want chocolate and cookies and deep fried junk!

Oh goodness. I miss a lot of food haha

I miss:

  • In-N-Out burger. It is SO good.
  • chocolate. a lot. especially since its the holidays and chocolate is everywhere.
  • Starbucks. I miss my lattes.
  • cotton candy ice cream. it sounds sounds horrible but its delicious

- Ice cream, especially from Ben & Jerry's

- Nutella

- Cakes with chocolate in them, especially black forest cakes

- Cheesecakes in general

- Pancakes with butter and maple syrup

- Malay and Indonesian cuisine

The list goes on!

chocolate spread sandwiches

nothing - honestly I dont miss any of it...

It's very easy to make a healthy curry. Spices don't contain loads of carbs and calories, so I don't know where you've sourced that from. Same place you found out oreos slow your metabolism, maybe? :\ Like Sparkle said it's probably the white rice, coconut, ghee that goes into many curries... try these recipes:

Veggie Red Curry
Pea, Potato and Sweetcorn Curry
Mixed Vegetable & Chickpea Curry
Mushroom Curry with Rice

That said, I think the best diets are the ones where you have a bit of "junk" once in a while and simply moderate yourself, so you don't really miss anything.

My friday night bag of chips.  Now when I want chips I slice a potao thin and bake them in the oven, good, but not the same.
Chinese food.
Deep fried veggies, zucchini, eggplant, mushrooms all dipped in batter and deepfried in oil.

Like lalabanana I don't miss anything either, because I keep everything in the mix.... it's just that some things are in much smaller amounts than they used to be.   Chips, biscuits, cakes, chocolate....  if you can be happy with a little it's no problem at all.   There are no bad foods, just bad diets.

Green Lentil Dhal with Rice

Lamb Dhansak

Cauliflower & Potato Curry (Aloo Gobi)

Tandoori Chicken

I still eat this once in awhile but I miss eating them in big portions;

Vegetable fried rice
Chocolate chip cookies w/ milk ; never eat this though
Spaghetti w/ ALOT of cheese and sauce
Any prepackaged donut / cookie / baked good ; never eat this either

xD

I dont miss any of it.  I dont think of it as a 'diet'  I believe it is a lifestyle change.  If I truly craved something, I would have it.  My body has been used to 'clean' living and I am not so sure what the reaction would be if I put harmful fuel into it.

I am a salt fan!  So I miss...

Old Dutch Onion and Garlic Chips
Nachos w/melted cheese and sour cream
French Fries from takeout
Pastas with cheesy sauces

As time goes on though, I find myself craving the bad stuff less and less and craving the good feeling of success the next day!

I miss take out.  I miss ignorant food bliss.

I have found great ways to make stuff myself:  Using fat-free sour cream in any cream sauce (curry, alfredo, etc), subing in whole grains for everything, etc.

But I miss going to a restaurant and NOT thinking "God this probably has a whole stick of butter in it."  and not having my tummy reject the fatty salty carbness later.

I agree with you thermal, I miss going out to eat the most.  In most cases even when you eat the best offerings the restaurants have you are still having too much fat, salt and white foods.  I only eat 100% whole wheat and the restaurants are not really there yet.

Sometimes now, I eat at home and join friends for coffee or ice tea when they eat out.

The two things I miss most are pizza and Mexican food.

I miss chinese food. I love general tso's chicken. If  I do chinese its usually the beef sticks (or if they have chicken) with brown rice. I love my buffalo chicken pizza. Im off the wagon right now, but usually Pork Roll and cheese on a bagel with salt pepper ketchup, which I had this morning b.c I didnt have time for my bowl of wheaties and I havnt had one in a long time.

I don't miss anything either. If I want something then I'll portion it down or find a healthier alternative to it.

If I miss anything it's having those times when I would eat anything I want. as much as I wanted and do it without a second thought THAT is what I miss.

If you crave something then have it, but make smart choices and limit your portions of it. Or as I said look for something that is in the healthier range or similar or you can always make your own version.

Everything in moderation. Don't *diet* just be smart about the choices you make.

:)

That is definitely what i miss.  I am VERY happy with my lifestyle change, but even now when I let myself eat something bad like cheetos or peanut butter fudge brownies (seldom), I have that little voice in my head yelling at me about how bad the food is for me.

I hate that little voice when i am 'treating' myself, I wish it knew when to be quiet and when to speak up (like when I'm just plain eating junk food for the heck of it and the voice is mute for some reason).

i miss eating things that i didn't know the calorie-count for.

well good for you, poopy pants

Cheese, yep-Mexican food, too. Mostly though, cheese, all cheese. I'm on a strict diet for the time being. Most days I eat around 1,200 calories, under 30 grams of fat.   Cheese just had to go.  Already, quite a while ago now, gave up all alcohol, with only a couple of times when I had sometbing to drink.  Then I added up the calories, and know it's not worth it!

Thanks. I'll try those. :)

Well I actually looked at the spices nutrition facts themselves.
