Healthy Eating on a Budget!

Quote  |  Reply
Anyone have some good suggestions on how to eat healthy while on a budget?  Here are some faves of mine:

1.  Michaelina Budget Gourmet TV Dinners:  They are about 200-cal meals that only cost 1-2 USD at Wal-Mart.  They're not the most filling, but are good with a side salad, extra veggies, or a piece of bread.  I think the pasta ones are the best/most satisfying.

2.  Frozen fruits and veggies!  They still have all the nutrients and fiber content of fresh foods, but cost less and keep longer!

3.  Cereal.  Find a few healthy cereals that you enjoy and you can have a great breakfast every day for the rest of your life.  Just rotate them every once in a while so you don't get sick of them!  Also, keeping some kids cereal (honeycombs, lucky charms etc.) on hand has been so helpful to me when cravings for sweets start.

Rice and beans! Soo ridiculously cheap! Also, whole wheat pasta, eggs, nuts (but them in the baking aisle and they're cheaper), oatmeal, bananas, other fruits in bulk, potatoes, frozen fish . . .
