I live in Ca but Ca is a huge state. What part are you going to? There is a place in southern california called nature's grill and one called nature's cafe that is good. In La area there is Panera which I love but live far. I just moved to the area so am not that familiar. If you say more near I can maybe help.
Thanks so much for the reply. I have heard alot about Panera but have never been. We are flying in to LA and staying there probably for a few days and then touring around. Not exactly sure yet where all we are going to go. We will definitely tour down and go to vegas as well. I will have to look up natures grill and natures cafe on the internet!
The hard part is that my best friend will eat whatever and in to fine dining but i am super healthy and watch everything that i eat and the calories that I consume!
Thanks so much for the suggestions as to where i can try

Seriously? California INVENTED the health food movement (who else would think to put broccoli on pizza)? You'll be FINE.
Thanks, i figured i would be fine, just thought i would ask for some healthy help!
Yes most places offer healthy stuff. Even the places that have more organic offer some not so healthy things so your friend will be fine. I love Panera though it is a chain. I live about 90 minutes from La but when go there I love it. They have both healthy and not so healthy. I like little cafe shops rather then chains other then Panera. Most offer both healthy and not. Have fun and relax cause it is ok to splurge once an awhile.
Just make sure to look online before you go out and order. Look for Trader Joe's and Whole Foods (stores), Panera, California Pizza Kitchen, California Cafe, etc. Many restraunts indicate on their menus the healthier options - if not, just ask the waiter!
I live east of San Francisco - hope you manage a detour up to our side of the state, it is beautiful here!
Anything you want to eat, you can find it in CA. You will find more ethnic food than you ever dreamed of. Most restaurants are all about healthy, sustainable foods that are cooked in simple ways.
I would avoid the chain restaurants and instead take advantage of all the variety and deliciousness on offer in both LA and SF. You can find so many wonderful things, there is no reason to eat the same things you would eat at home. Part of the fun of a trip is finding the cool local places, right?
Have a great time and enjoy the eats!

North of San Francisco over here (hi East bay!!). Not gonna lie - when it comes to health/health foods, I think I might live in the most privaleged part of the WORLD. My county has more organic, raw, vegan, fresh, delicious produce/foods/meats than you can believe. If you pass through the Bay Area - go to a restaurant called Cafe Gratitude (there are a few locations in/around SF) - it's a DELICIOUS vegan restaurant that makes things like burgers, enchiladas, cheesecakes, etc. ALL out of fruits, nuts, vegetables, sprouts, etc.
on a cheat day make a trip to innout, the best burger in the world.. also, if you like desert, i suggest golden spoon frozen yogurt, 68 calories for a mini size (equivalent to about 2 regular size scoops of ice cream.) have fun and enjoy cal-i-forn-i-a! :)
