I love to have half an english muffin with half a tbsp peanut butter, soo good im craving it right now!

also love yogourt, and well i like making lattes lol at least theyre a source of calcium and protein, with all that milk in there!

i havent yet tried it, but i usually have apples, and ive heard a lot of ppl recommend apples with pb or even celery with pb. and i like my apples dipped in yogourt too!

AND GO TO TRADER JOE'S!!!!!

theres sooo much interesting, unique, flavorful, and HEALTHY food there! i love it!

Thanks for your help! I still would like anyone elses imput. As far as the butter and sour cream thing lynettep, I put them up there but I use the Promise butter (which has like 5 cals per tablespoon) and the sour cream is (non fat daisy). I really have been told though that I should be using the real deal during recovery...but other than that please people post your hearts out for new ideas that I could add on...ohh and musiclove, I think I might have to try the whole wheat tortilla with nutella!
music-love--
the cottage cheese with black pepper is SOOooo not weird at ALL!
I LOOOove eating it this way! :) Mmmmmmmm

this thread is great linny!-----Def. have it tagged .......fo sure :) *laugh
I'm right there with ya on the whole BRANCHING OUT thing---I need to keep pushing myself.
And I understand what you mean about how the sour cream SHOULD be full fat,----as with pretty much EVERYTHING we are eating in order to help us to GAIN weight eventually--But I understand that it is difficult, especially when I had liked TRAINED myself to seek out ONLY those things which were lite, sugar free, fat free, etc. etc. I'm changing it little by little, one thing at a time. Don't over-whelm yourself but DO keep up on your AWESOME strides toward recovery!
You may sometimes feel "Down" about yourself or your progress---
but I want you to know that YOU ARE A DAIIILY encouragement to me! and that comes STRAIGHT from the heart :) seriously linny- :) Keep it up :)
bump bump it up!!
hey girlie! hope you're having a fantastic morning (yoga and sunshine filled-perhaps?). Not only bumping, but I actually have a couple ideas! I'm big on cottage cheese (Should be full fat- right?) mixed with cut up bits of apple, lots of cinnamon, and crushed up cereal- may be an odd combo and one of my teachers says it looks "rank," but he used to be hippie so he said that as long as it tastes good (which it does!) then it's "chill that I eat it in class as long as I Don't share" lol. Also, string cheese is easy and portable. speaking of sourdough bread, how about toasted or put under the broiler with a slice of cheese melty on top, or some gooey peanut butter? that spinach artichocke dip when I finally get the recipe from my sis!  Any sort of squash fries (cut them up, coat with a bit of olive oil and spices and bake them!). Any one else have any ideas? I could use some other ideas to take to school that aren't my "rank cereal extravaganza"

Here are some of my calorie snacks:

cottage cheese with dried cherries, some wheat germ, and some walnuts -- I don't like the texture of cottage cheese so I add these in to mask the texture

saltines with peanut butter--no bloat, good calories!

a serving of Kashi Heart to Heart cereal (dry)--makes a great portable snack, no refrigeration needed

a half a peanut butter sandwich (my bread is really high in calories, 150 a slice!)

So I get good calories, no bloat and I feel virtuous! Win/win all the way around.

Thanks Jess that combo actually sounds...well, like I am going to run to the store grab the ingredients and whip it together!! HAA! I also like the idea of the squash fries. I am not much of a squash person per say, but I know that my mom use to make sweet potato fries the same way with cinammon on top or she would bake a cut up baked potato with parmesean cheese on top! I am so glad that people are offering great and new exciting suggestions. This makes recovery that much easier because I keep finding myself buying the same food and getting so freaking tired of nuts nuts everywhere.....haaa.! Thanks to contrary you are amazing!!! I really don't like cottage cheese either but I think I might try the mixture that you posted above, maybe with cranberries and almonds or peacans perhaps. I do love saltines so I will most likely be going to get some of those also. Good luck everyone and please post your hearts out!!

My favorite snacks (they have changed drastically since I added more calories):

  • Luna bars
  • Cliff bars
  • Whole wheat tortilla spread with peanut butter and honey or better than peanut butter and raspberry jam
  • MorningStar original veggie burgers
  • No pudge black bean brownies (low on calories but great nutrients)
  • Mango & yogurt smoothie + a scoop of protein powder when I'm low

I'm recently obsessed with kettle corn with cinnamon. I have these 100-calorie bags and if you sprinkle some cinnamon right in the bag and shake it like crazy as soon as it's done popping it's delicious! Sweet and sorta spicy from the cinnamon mmmmm. And popcorn takes a long time to eat so it's the perfect study snack. Great ideas guys! I feel like my food is so boring lately, lol. This thread will definitely help.

Yes that popcorn thing torpidire is definitley a hit!! So I went out today and just bought a can of that pumpkin filling that you use to make pumpkin pie and I am thinking that I will make some sort of pumpkin wrap with cinnamon and almonds ...I may be going out on a limb here but I think this sounds kinda good like for the season and everything. I also made this really great chicken salad with dried cranberries, pecans, sweet relish, chicken, mayo, and raisens...it was yummy good you guys should try it. Oh and another idea that I randomly got from a girl in my support group was getting a really big banana and putting peanut butter down the center and then freezing it and eating it for a great protein filled treat....

i forgot one thing:

BANANA BREAD!

yummmmmmm

and i make it myself with extra banana and whole wheat flour (you cant even tell) and its amazing

If you have a sweet craving, try carrot ginger soup from trader joe's.  It's 80 calories per cup, is really sweet and a dollop of yogurt makes it wonderful.

this thread is awesome (:

some of my favorites:
western alternative bagel with strawberry cream cheese
halved apple with the middle part cut out, filled with peanut butter
garden vegetable hummus with raw carrots, broccoli, cauliflower, etc
sliced banana and peanut butter mini sandwiches
cottage cheese topped with blackberries
air popped popcorn salted

ewwxroflzz...thanks these look great!!!

I also came up with something new...

I think I will make a pumpkin or banana bread loaf and put cream cheese or apple butter on top. Or maybe this would even be good with apples on top toasted with a drizzle of honey and some cinnamon...

keep up with the ideas guys this is great...making new things makes it easier during recovery because it allows my mind to go outside of the box of "safe" foods....like the banana sandwich is a great idea...maybe I will try nuts on it too!
i just discovered another great combo--real foods' corn thin cakes with vegetable hummus! so good and so filling. that pumpkin and banana bread stuff sounds amazinggg

deff. tagging this thread :)

 i like....

-rice cakes with peanut butter + raisons

 - cottage cheese mixed with yogurt

-carrots and salsa for those late night salt craving

-pro-performance weight gainer 2200 gold® mixed with bananas

 - basically any food with peanut butter is yummy

 - oh and tunna fish with celery and mayo

I am OBSESSED with peanut butter. It's amazing with almost any fruit or vegetable (I think) as well as on bread and rice cakes or just on a spoon! I have to be careful, because it can be a binge-trigger for me, but it also works well as a protein boost, since I'm not big on meat and beans sometimes. I want to try other nut butters too, because I've heard they're good for you without so much oil. Thoughts?
Wow torpidire, I never thought of ever putting peanut butter on any fruit besides a banana or an apple.  Do you think it would be good with like strawberries or pineapple? I wonder??? I love the caramel dip though with apples (maybe I will make some candy apples). Oh for the holidays too, my mom and I always make chocolate and yogurt covered pretzels..although I have the tendency to splurge on the whole bag!! Another thing that is great is cheezits with peanut butter...not sure how anyone else feels but I love me some cheezits!
