Healthy Snacks
I thought starting a thread like this could be helpful to a lot of us. What are some of your healthy snack options, for those hours between meals when you need something to keep you going?
Some of mine are:
What gets you through the day?
Some of mine are:
- Quaker Chewy bars (Strawberry Yogurt - so awesome, and 140 calories), although I think as far as grenola bars go there are better options.
- Kellogg's All-Bran Snack Bites, which come in packs of 110 calories.
- Yoghurts are love - some of the Danone ones are less than 100 calories per serving.
- Fresh fruit are a given.
What gets you through the day?

ive found many uses for plain yogurt, you can make it into good meals anytime of the day, including a good sauce on chicken or meat.
cereal is good, as long as you mix it with protien, or have a high protien cereal.
fruit is a good one too.
my ideal snack is ususly a peaice of fruit, some almonds and a glass of milk

OR
carrot sticks dipped in salsa or honey mustard.
OR
steamed broccoli topped with pasta sauce (and sometimes parmesan cheese). better than pasta!
OR
frozen blueberries/strawberries mixed with dannon light 'n' fit vanilla yogurt, topped with cinammon.

I like Luna Bars, dry whole grain cereal, dried apricots, reduced fat triscuits, bananas, whole grain toast with a little jam, popcorn, almonds, Annie's bunny grahams, TLC 7-grain crackers, fruit snacks, Breyer's yogurt snack packs, low fat cottage cheese snack packs...
I vary my snacks a lot. It keeps me from growing bored with my diet. I'd have to say that I eat some sort of whole grain snack most often. Today I had reduced fat tricuits with one Kraft free single as a snack. Not too many calories, and very satisfying.

healthunut, for that sinless "apple pie" do you core and cut up the apple first before u add the splenda and cinnamon?

Apples w/ peanut butter, slice of whole wheat toast w/ peanut butter, jelly belly sport beans (before I work out 100 calories, extra boost), cheerios w/ skim milk, grapes, plums, oranges, nature valley trail mix granola bar 140 calories. I have my own little version of 'sinless' apple pie, except its probably not the same at all. 1 apple sliced, 1/2 a lemon juiced, and cinnamon. Shake it up in a bag and you have yourself a sweet and sour treat in 65 calories. YUM.

Cottage Cheese! I always thought because it had "cheese" in the title it was high in calories. Turns out, it's a great lean protein and tasty to boot.
I also have an apple pie...
1 apple sliced w. a pinch of cinnamon
then I mix about a tbsp of oats with 1 tsp maple syrup.
Put oats on top of apple w. cinnamon
Bake.
Ridiculously good, and about 100 calories.
Also,
carrots
rice cakes
rice crackers
Steamed broccoli
Steamed spinach w. lemon juice & pepper
Frozen grapes
Classic popsicle (you know the ones that come in grape, orange, or cherry) - only 45 cals
Red peppers (w. goat cheese)
Smoothie - I gen. just put banana and almond milk w. cinnamon
Lipton cup of soup (high sodium but key)
Toppings
Apple butter (20 cals per Tbsp)
Hummus
Baba Gahnouj (sp.?)
Peanut Butter
Almond Butter
Home-made guacamole
