put on weight but not fat? so...you mean muscle?? the type of food you eat wont determine whether you put on fat vs muscle, its how you use the energy that the food gives you. if you eat right (and eat a surplus of calories: more than u need to maintain ur weight) and exercise - preferably weight training with weights heavy enough (you'll need to get separate advice about this) - then you will put on some fat AND some muscle
thats beautiful!!!!!
foods that are good to eat before/after exercising to help your body recover and build muscle include......(there's so many)

fruits - eg banana, pineapple, mango, grapes
wholegrain sandwiches with peanut butter and jam,
smoothies, yoghurt (not the "low fat" kind with lots of added sugar though),
vegetables like pumpkin, sweet potato, or any vegies maybe baked or stir fried with olive/peanut oil
basically any nuts especially almonds
brown rice, chickpeas, beans and lentils (buy or make curries!)
aaaand of corse you have all your meats...(which i myself dont particularly enjoy):
chicken breast, salmon, lean beef are all good choices

let me know and good luck dont be afraid to enjoy your food :)

Good for you yyonah!

I would focus on leaner meat (beef, turkey, chicken, fish), theyre are many types of beans which are filling and super healthy, nuts are very good for us, be sure to get dairy in their depending on your tastes - yougart, tons of cheese - soft and hard, fruits and veg are almost all healthy so its your flavor choice there.  You are taking a great step doing this! :D :D
hey yyonah:) i am doing that right now too! i eat alot of peanut butter on whole wheat toast, and im gunna start eating more nuts like amonds. Also my nutritionist has me drinking 2 ensures a day. They are vitamin packed! if u have any questions just ask me:)
peanut butter... any kinds of nuts... special k protein plus, raisin brane, grape nuts, and granola are all good great cereal choices.. they are a little higher in calories but have tons of nutrients, protein & fiber and other things.. ..... whole wheat bread, seeds,( fish, tuna, salmon) (which all are excellent sources of protein & omega 3's which are essential fatty acids your body needs, trail mix, dried fruit, yougrt, cheese  &crackers, raisins are all nutrious choices that u cant go wrong with :)
So I am a recovering anorexic too and the way I gained a bit more weight was by increasing my portion sizes of the food I already ate, that way it was not completely OVERWHELMING to intodruce new foods into my life...instead I would just up the anti...For Example: I used to eat about 1/2 a pound of ground meat for lunch and then a large stir fry with meat @ dinner...in order to up the calories...I: Ate about 3/4ths of a pound of meat (grass-fed Bison, Buffallo, ostrich, elk, venison, etc...) Then for my stir fries I added a bit of olive oil more veggies (some starchier ones) and more meats like shrimp, scallops, chicken, turkey, etc.....

Although, dont follow completely in my footsteps: you should eat some snacks! I just dont because I eat a lot of protein that I am never really hungry! Good Luck and I know what you are going through but luckily I am ok now! :)

i am in recovery too. eat lots of lean protein, that will help you gain muscle. if you are open to new things (and if this is new to you) try sashimi: its like sushi...raw fish without the rice. that way you are avoiding any calories added by cooking, and keeping any nutrients removed by cooking! and i forget whole else said it, i only really scanned the other responses, but whole grains are great. they are very nutritious and keep you feeling full so you arent hungry again in an hour.

my ed isnt very serious, my doctor loves the words "borderline" and "keep an eye out", so i dont know if i can say we are in the same boat, but what i do know is i am learning, and it is a painful process. try to make friends (besides online, someone who can be in your presence alot) with someone who is very health and nutrition-concious, preferably someone who had recovered, because then they wont do the whole "yeah! eat that donut! you'll be fine!" song and dance. they will actually GET you, not just get that you need to gain weight.

i tried to be clear, im sorry if i wasnt.
